This was just an example.I wanted to ask if it was possible to differentiate
things like f(x)>g(x) and have still the >
But after some thinking i understanded that this canNOT happen no way because the fact that f(x) > g(x) for every real x means that the graph of f(x) is higher from g(x) for every real x.But f derivative represents the slope of the tangent of f at x, giving us the monotony of f.Hope you understanded what i mean. Also thanks for the reply
@MrFangRui Moving horizontally is considered the x direction, and y is dependent on x. Since the derivative is the slope of the tangent line, then we take the value at x0 + delta(x) (i.e. y(x0 + delta(x)) or f(x0 + delta(x))) and subtract it from y(x0) or f(x0) and divide it by the change of x (i.e. delta(x)) to get the slope. You take the limit as delta(x) -> 0 in order to shrink the delta(x) to an infinitesimally small value to acquire the tangent line at point P.
i don't understand people QQ'ing about the blackboard. Math on powerpoint ? really ? lol
Never seen that. Math is a science where you need to be able, at any time, to demonstrate any calculus you make. I don't see that happening on a power point.
Beside, doing the demonstration forces you to explain it, which is better for understanding.
if you are a random person like i am, which has nothing to do with anything of the information given in this video, like i am (i am a chef in a restaurant) you think to yourself, WTF IS HE TALKING ABOUT!!? and i watched this 10 fucking minutes ....
man wtf ?! i've seen this video over a billion times each weak it get posted again and again and again /!!!! why the fuck are they making copies of this stupid video 1 fucking video is enough!
This professor is not the best I've seen on youtube. Not that he doesnt understand what he explains but his methodology is not essentialising the obscure concepts. First, he should have discribed the slope as delta x on delta y....( why f(x))?...or the obscure equation y-yo= m (x-xo)... could have been easyer as m= delta x/delta y....
@zobazoba69 see first youself before judging others as if your better than the professor, shame on you idiot. upload your lectures to so that well see if which is better.. your just a big mouth idiot..
@zobazoba69 Its very simple f(x) is used as a generic term for any function. It is the most commonly used in mathematics, whereas y is more specific. For example, y can be velocity, acceleration, temperature, etc. but in math you always want to go for a more generic term. Not to mention, y isn't a function, its a variable. I can understand the confusion, but mixing notation doesn't make the professor bad.
@supertincho18 in italy we do that in highschool...and i did that in highschool too while i was in the US... i guess it just depends... but if it's a beginning class..maybe it's better to start from the beginning.
@re4lize This is the starting level for say, music majors, and those who weren't fortunate enough to have calculus in highschool. Most people who go to MIT start way higher. How about getting your head out of your ass before calling out an entire nation.
Well i like this blackboard thing.... and if i am ever going to teach i will keep this in mind... as a student or follower of the lesson...life is easier when things are written like this... it gives you the time to write down what's saying and also writing...the board goes up and stays there if u're slow..and he makes right at the time what he's explaining...it makes it understandable.A power point slide is always fast, done, and the person who's explaining, most of the time, just reads it.
What is better is a power blackboard, motor driven, stacked 3 or 4 high, so you can run up several boards easily and they can be seen by a large lecture theatre (say a 400 seater)
@GowanBray Well ok .... allmighty America :D.... we don't have money to finance research... i think it will take a bit to have Motor driven power Blackboard... :D Anyways a blackboard is a blackboard...the basic ones are fine.. all u need to know ...is what to write on them..and somebody that understands what is written ;)
It's not hard once you wrap your head around it. The only thing that gets me is when the prof is on a roll and explains things really fast, but that's why he takes question breaks so that students can ask for a re-explanation.
To all the braggers: Just because you learned it at age X before university doesn't mean you're any smarter. This course moves fast and will cover many topics within 3 months. I highly doubt you learned half of this course in a HS semester, let alone all of it.

@ALEX250692 Because people don't pay 50k a year to take just a calculus course. They pay 50k a year for a degree and a rock solid education for use in their future careers.
@ALEX250692 Well, that's the point, I don't have to be a big shot to get a decent career. I, and others like me, have a passport to any technological business in America. And hopefully you'll understand the fact that it is extremely rare for anyone to get anywhere without a undergraduate degree.

Shit son, why pay that 50k a year when you can have the same stuff on youtube for free ahahhaha
ALEX250692 2 months ago
@ALEX250692 should have already learned this in highs school.

@ALEX250692 Because people don't pay 50k a year to take just a calculus course. They pay 50k a year for a degree and a rock solid education for use in their future careers.

@jshowa6 sure, and you can wipe your ass with that diploma in these times. If you are good, you can be a big shot without even a uni diploma
ALEX250692 1 month ago
@ALEX250692 Well, that's the point, I don't have to be a big shot to get a decent career. I, and others like me, have a passport to any technological business in America. And hopefully you'll understand the fact that it is extremely rare for anyone to get anywhere without a undergraduate degree.

@ALEX250692 Not to mention that "diploma I wipe my ass with" is proof that I have the knowledge, skills, and work ethic needed to perform a job.
