  • Ron Dante of the Archies.

  • Great song, it's lip synched, but that drummer's not even trying.

  • I remember riding my sting-ray bike with an AM radio on the handlebars, riding down a hill while listening to this great song in second grade, such pure happiness, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WORLD WE LIVE IN?

  • @funkadelphiarecords We grew up. :-(

  • @glorybra When the going gets tough and life seems hopeless, just imagine yourself riding down that hill on a sting-ray bike while listening the "Tracy" on the AM radio....

  • @funkadelphiarecords Direct hit, take me back to 69 riding on

    a gold stingray bike.

  • @pigurine TAKE ME BACK TO THE SUMMER OF 69, FAR AWAY FROM THE MORONS TEXTING ON THOSE NEW-FANGLED CELL-PHONE CONTRAPTIONS!

  • I always thought the Archies sang this song.

  • Incredible that the entire song is only 2 minutes long. A lot of songs take 2 minutes to get to the first chorus.

  • @MrLehnerd Ron Dante sang on the vocals for sure.

  • One person Must not like Tracy....

  • i grew up in the sixties and loved this song in particular.thanx for posting a wonderful memory.

  • This is such a great song ... I must have heard it hundreds of times, and never get sick of it ... Top film clip too ... thanks for posting ! ... Wayne

  • loving this song lol xx

  • Ron Dante is the KING of bubblegum. With so many 60's bands and then with Barry Manilow. He's a positive force in music.

  • Are you serious? That's a trip!!! What's the point?

  • wasn't ron dante the lead vocal for the archies?

  • @40fordcoop and the detergents, known for shangri las parody of leader of the pack the leader of the laundromat. There was some footage of ron singing all the part of the archies, it's vocal tweeking on the sound board and a little natural mimicing on ron's end. Ray Stevens made a very good lady impression in guitar-zan if you recall

  • great song love it

  • sweet song, so much better then then rap trash and filth that is out now.

  • @Civitatuccillo Definitely have to agree.

  • Love this song, brings me back to my youth!

  • Thx for posting. One of my faves I haven't heard in a long time.

  • This was common in the '60s and '70s with studio produced music, like Tracy. They would assemble a "group" to lipsync and pretend to perform on TV. The actual recording is the overdubbed voices of Ron Dante with studio musicians.

  • The Cuff Links were a studio band. As were The Archies and First Class... among others.

  • Shortly after this video was made the drummer was told he had no idea how to play drums, was thrown out the back door of the studio and run over by a passing streetcar. Absolutely true.

  • @smokiebird06 Did he survive?

  • @smokiebird06 So, the streetcar WASN'T named "Desire"?

  • Asked my other half to find me this,as my name is Tracy , he never heard it before... oh my god just fab...

  • @sixtiestone66 you never heard this????? how old are you?

  • I don't know who these guys are, but that's definitely NOT Ron Dante.

  • @torchkit Ron Dante may well be the co-lead on this, check out his white hat, seated at the keyboard.

  • Great song, big hit in Australia, this was the second 45 I ever bought back in 69

  • My aunt and uncle used to play this over and over for me.... it's my theme song too -- :) my hubby and kids know it by heart!!!! --- Tracy

  • 1 person doesn't know a girl as great as Tracy! Still remember from Ally McBeal how this was Tracy Ullman's theme song. LOL!

  • OMG look at those sideburns and sleeves!

  • @misseasylistener YEAH , LOOK AT GAGA AND RAP STARS, COME ON THIS IS NOTHING

  • Right on!

  • holy shit where on earth did you find this gem! yeah i didnt think that was ron dante. we all know this was a major studio overdub recording, but all the band members here look like they are really playing and singing . bubble gum at its height 1969 . i am from staten island as is ron dante. a girl i grew up with is related to him....

  • My sister had this 45' and played the heck out of it! I still remember all the words!

  • The band was a studio concoction of songwriters Paul Vance & Lee Pockriss. Ron Dante (not the guy in the clip) sang the lead vocals on most of the songs on the first album. A touring band was put together when the song became a hit. That's who is in the clip. Rupert Holmes arranged the strings on several of the album's songs, but not this one. He was more involved in the 2nd album taking over as lead from Ron on most of the songs. Both are good pop albums. That was more than you needed to know!

  • look at the dudes drums, one cymbal. try telling drummers to bring one cymbal to the gig these days.

  • yep a mime job because singer Ron dante WAS The Cuff Links and the Archies and that ain't him singing!

  • i was named after this song as well and i love it. so uncommon its unique without being weird <3

  • this is the song i was named for...funny but so true i was born 1970 and my mother fell in love with the name tracy...i felt my name was dated lol. now i sing it to my son and loved ones to make them smile....thats what counts

  • 1 minute into this segment, the drummer does the same thing he always does and there is a discrepancy in the beat and what the drummer is doing. Obviously, this whole thing was lyp synched. I like the song, but this performance is FAKE. It puts the "F" back in FAKE.

  • they are lip syncing

  • Oh, they're miming.

  • Great vocals. Just not much stage presence for my taste, but still a great song!

  • Where did you find this? Way back in 1969, this was my favourite song.

    Thank you very,very much.

  • i wonder if rupert holmes is in here! as he worked on this album and track too.. dos not look like it

  • i wonder if rupert holmes is in here! as he worked on this album and track too

  • Ron Dante is the lead singer for the Tracy album only, but never appeared with the group except for that golfing video where they sing all bother a golfer while singing the song. He's in the 3rd golf cart at the beginning. One of them lip singing Tracy in this clip.

  • Huh? The lead singer isn't Ron Dante, who was also the lead singer for the Archies.

  • This is so cool... Maybe there was a Cufflinks band.... Makes you wonder....

  • That's not Ron Dante, The sync music is orginaly studio Ron Dante, however the singer is one of many "stagged" Cuff Links members

  • Ron Dante also did Sugar, Sugar as the Archies.

  • I think they had a band put together to tour as The Cuff Links, but Ron Dante definitely did all the vocals. That is NOT him there pretending to sing.

This song is an amazing slice of pop though.

  • @reluctantpopstar absolutely right, Ron was working with Jeff Barry and Don Kirshner by now with the Archies projecs :o)

  • My song!!!! Love it.....and spelt the right way!!! :D

  • tracy coulter find me if you can

  • i was named because of these men.....and i am beautiful so keep it up

  • Classic tune, imagine that's a young Neil Peart on drums, the guy's just goin' to town!

  • who is this? Ron dante was The Cuff Links and this ain't him..lol

  • Thanks or posting this! Awesome.......

  • Did You Know! That My Dad Wrote This Song!

  • That's Ron Dante?!!! He looks like John Belushi!

  • Thanks so much for this video

  • AWESOME!!! this is the first 45 I owned ...my name is Tracy

  • One of the best all time hits! I wanted my name to be Tracy!

  • @MsJan1974 change it ?

  • I was named after this song by my father...I have it on 45 and will never get rid of it. I lovvvvvvvvvvve this song.

  • For lip-synching Ron Dante's vocals, they did a good job.

  • One of the best of the ultimate "bubble gum" hits.

  • This IS very rare! Ron Dante did all the vocals for this song (and the rest of the first album), but he is not actually in the video. It was a Cuff Links touring group miming Dante's vocals :)

  • Wow !!!

This is a "Rare" clip - Never seen this before - Thanks for uploading.

  • Nice one , had to buy the sheet music to get the chords for this one lol, Cheers Ed
