Now that I think about it, I do remember an interview where Anthony said he loved to play video games, so I am guessing he played this game and he loved this song. I think the last step would be to find out when the Marvel vs SF song came out and when this song came out. I think their original album was released in 2000-2001, something like that. Not that it's that important but I find it interesting as an M83 fan.
It does sound very much alike but I wouldn't call it stealing, alot of musicians do this, especially in the hip-hop/rap genre. It actually made me like the song even more, I didn't know M83 were such big fans of video games. You know what is weird? I always thought the song reminded me of a video game, like when I used to play games when I was a kid. I've never playe this game in particular though. But yes, it is obvious to me from this video that the song sampled the game's song.

Crazy it's exactly the same riff slowed down, even the drums sound the same. Hell he might just be sampling the whole song and slowing it down. I love M83 but I agree with you....how many other songs have they ripped off?? You should do some more investigating

Yeah, I definitely hear a similarity. M83 definitely "borrowed" the hook from this melody...Either way, M83 is one of FAVOURITE BANDS of ALL TIME!!!!
