Be cool dude - - the wild animals in your part of the world dont want anything to do with you. Black bears will retreat from humans. Keep control over your imagination. Make noise while you hike and the animals will avoid you, even snakes.

I learned from Katrina victims to beware DOMESTIC DOGS - after a few days with out food they turned vicous and had no fear of humans.

I have stored food, and have a bug out trailer, its small but enclosed, and is like 4x 7 and is painted black can fill with food etc,, but I do believe that Gd may protect those that need it, yes by supernatural forces, this we must not forget about, because FAITH will activate this protection, yes it seems dumb but I do think it will happen, yes bought a shotgun, and don't forget toilet paper and meds. Faith will save you, must have a pure heart, what does that mean?

Ok the Bronx is a bad over crowded place granted. But It might be better to attempt to find ways to grow food where you are. NY has Roof top gardens and other areas, to grow food. I do not think one family or person stands much chance of surviving by themselves. So where ever your cabin is located you should have other people in a small community would be better.

Hmmm... I lived in forested area a couple of times, but now I live on an almost 14 a. hobby farm type of property that is just a mile out of a small town. (pop. 2,000+ approx)

We just had nasty property destruction in Strasbourg, France -- residents were annoyed that the police were overwhelmed and took so long to show up, but these people should have been armed and defended their businesses. One plucky group of women just set up a simple barricade and "manned" it and deflected destruction. Don't wait for forces of order to come to your rescue. Greetings from France.

I sent you a video I did on this same topic, very good points and all routes should at least be done ahead of time both in the car and on foot. Camping is very important, but also knowing your tent very well....I have rope and a tarp also for a easy shelter when you don't want to attract attention.

If I can't leave my plan is to put up my hurricane shutters, pull the car in the garage and put a for rent sign in my yard. That is my plan either way really. Also, I have to say I am glad I was a Girl Scout. I did a lot of camping. : )

As for your bug out, in planning your route, mark places to avoid: Military/police facilities, schools (primary crisis shelters for the sheeple), urban centers, bottlenecks like tunnels and bridges (not always avoidable, but they WILL be turned into checkpoints), and other "traps." Oh, and if you're going cross-country, PLEASE prepare for poison ivy, sumac, and oak!...

Read up on it, because your survival will be impaired if you are in constant misery! Benadryl 2% gel is a good start, along with something to neutralize the contact poison on your clothes (such as baking soda). Just do your research, ask your pharmacist, and learn to identify those plants.

get out and camp... exactly!! you nailed it - you will know what you need if you do it. just plan a trip with the family every so often.. also you are right about the map - every time i visit a state i buy a map for that state. the large one that has all the states is a bit large for a pack - i prefer the individual ones. remember also if you are gonna be on foot pack an extra set of good shoes and plenty of socks.

Good video. I'd absolutely hate to have to leave my home, especially on foot, but I could do it. I have a nice rural bug out location though (a relative's house) and I've already stocked it with 6 months of rather bland food. I could get there on foot in a few days but on a bicycle I could probably make it in 8 hours if I had access to good roads. I have camping gear and bug out bag with 4 days of food and other gear. I've been thinking about this but I'm glad you're spreading the word.
