Jeeps in such good conditions cant be original. That should be obvious, or no? For me there are to kind of collectors. 1 they want to have a willys so original as possible and pay the price that not everything looks like brand new. 2 the other collectors want that they look so new as possible, so much warlike as possible, but they dont mind if parts are replicas from the philipines. The owner from that jeep looks he has fund what he wanted to have.
My 48 CJ-2A is my daily driver but it doesn't look anywhere as sweet as this machine regardless how many different years of parts went into its restoration.
Everything original? No, very little is original on this jeep. The entire drivetrain and frame is out of a civilian jeep, from the post war motor to the T90 transmission, to the D41 or D44 rear axle and the paint. From the power brake booster and the plastic master cylinder on the firewall, to the civilian steering wheel and draw bar, nothing is original. Power brakes on a WW2 jeep? Power brakes were never available. Pop rivets on the data plates?
(continued)......off the back draw bar as the GPW's and MB's didn't have those and swap out the back axle. That is usually the tell-tell way to see if it is an army jeep. The hub on the back axle of an army jeep is the same size as the front. The CJ-series and M-series jeeps have that little hub cap like yours does. The color it's painted is the Marine Corps Semi-gloss olive green used in the 1950's. The correct paint for all WWII vehicles is Olive Drab #319.
That is a really nice Jeep, someone put allot of time in it. I hate to tell you this, but it's not really a 1942 MB, its really a CJ-2A civilian jeep with an army Jeep body and front grill. Looks like someone upgraded the brakes too. Its not original, but an improvement. The original master cylinder is on the frame. You do have an early "slat grill" style oil bath air cleaner though. Thats cool. I have a friend that converted his 2A to an Army jeep. One big way to convert one is to cut
You're exactly right about the brakes. I was about to coment on it before i came across yours. Not only the brakes but even the battery. Originally this model came with a 6V. Anyway whoever re-stored it has done a fabulous job. I'd like to comment on the Gerry Cans too. They too are new.
So far what you owe is a piece of art. Congratulations! I have a good 1946 CJ2A ready for restauration. I want it to look as wonderful as yours even though my budget is not that big. Good job.
It is absolutely amazing, I've seen a lot of your videos about your car, but this is outstanding. I'm also into Jeeps, have one from 1970, but this Willys Jeep is by far the best I've seen! Cheers mate

It's just a CJ-2a with repro sheet metal.
