Don't drive on the most icy line, instead drive on snowy spots of the road. On straight lines you can do that. You don't have to stay in the middle of the road all the time. Also throw it more sideways and lean to snow banks and if possible cut the corners just a little.

@touge242 I not 100% sure on this but it depends on the classifications of the race, certain tire types may be used in competition such as studded or non studded off road tires, these tires are made specifically for this type of driving, they sure as hell aren't your typical 50,000 mile tires.lol maybe last less than 1 full race. And I doubt they are as comfortable as a street tire.From what I have seen on snow and ice a narrow width tire with certain tread pattern and siping are used.
