I have a friend of mine that owns a spotted raphael. they are really cool looking fish. they don't get too big (average: 6"-10") and they're quite calm, but can be very active during night period or feeding period. I'm not a big fan of cory cats though.

Nice setup though. possibly could use some more rock or drift wood for hiding, but overall nice tank

A year ago I sued a local pet store for selling me a Malapteruridae (Electric Catfish) as a Elegant Corydoras that killed off my other fish, 2 breeding Paretroplus Damii (Rare and Expensive) from Madagascar, and a rare Koi Japanese Carp - Nice Tank , Cat looks big - I kept the Electric, its in a 75 tank with some meanass African Cichlids - You should see them dance when the get to close to the Cat...LOL

@myztichydra No. for some reason rapheals tend to get fat like that. rapheal catfish arent livebrooders anyway so they cant get pregnant.

Beautiful selection of cats. Did the one pair ever successfully spawn? I'm assuming you would have put them into a breeding tank where the other cats wouldn't have eaten the eggs if you intended on breeding them.

Love the tank I'm a huge catfish guy myself however I'm more into the XXXL cats like RTC, niger cat...etc. I also have a sterbai tank though. 10 sterbais 6 albino sterbais. Love sterbais my fav of the corydoras. I saw someone mention there being to many sterbais. My 2cents on that is not true. Corycats do a lot better in schools. Infact they thrive in schools. Always reccomended schools of 6 or more for keeping corys.

Alright, a few Q's if you'd be so kind:

Were the hoplos spawning around the same time the raphs did it?

Any special foods? Temperature changes? Were the days getting longer or shorter?  Help me spawn my raphs! I've got three males and hopefully a female on the way.

@knifegill I didn't see the spawning happening. The temperature change from 25 to 28 Celcius for the hoplos may have caused the Raphael catfish to reproduce as well. Maybe combined with the 50-60 % water change I made 1-2 days before rising the temperature. The male raphael catfish is often very territorial after the water changes and bites the female when it enters to the cave. So maybe the fish have spawned in the cave. The pH was around 6.
