Great video. But, who is to say the person seeking the organ would have got the car crash victim's organ, or that the person seeking the organ got it from another source. In the UK, doctors can't just give kidneys to who they want, it has to go through the organ donor register, don't know about the US. But do donate, I received a kidney 4 months ago, changed my life.
I used to tell my loved ones to donate everything they can should something happen to me. That was until I started a career in healthcare. With the organ shortage being what it is, I was very shocked to see that one of my patients attempted suicide and taken 90 tylenol. She received a new liver and told me she was not happy. Another patient just received a new liver and said he felt like a new man. One of the nurses caught his wife bringing liquer in the hospital.

Strong message. It is unfortunate you received inappropriate negative comments do not let those discouraged you. You could conceivably reach the right person and help them make the right decision. And possibly save a life. Maybe even that of a loved one, best wishes to you and long and healthy life.
a person died in a car accident... did she die in the hospital or in the car?.. it's important to give that information because you can only transplant organs when there's still oxygen in the organs.. so you can only transplant when you die with artificial respiration..

Why do they need to know that? Its vitally important that more people donate organs. Doctors at the front line can inform families if their dead relatives organs are not suitable for transplant. What is important is getting people to donate them in the first place. Any medical considerations are secondary, because without the permission to use an organ the suitability or viability of the organ makes no difference.

If anyone is thinking of donating a kidney. Go for it. I gave my Sister my left kidney 3 March 2000 in the Western Infirmary in Glasgow. Here I am 24 August 2008. I can do everything now that I could do before 3 March 2000. Last year on the 8th March 2007, my Sister gave birth to Sara Elizabeth. The most beautiful Bairn you ever saw. Words can't describe how I felt holding her. You can make a difference. One is all you need. Please help someone. My op was painful. Was it worth it? HELL YEAH
@kenzieclan hey man. my sister had lung cancer, and she was unable to live with one lung, but i was able to because my body is a full grown adult, i now breathe with one lung, and still have a bit difficulties with it , but you and i did it for a better reason.. i did it for my baby sister to live.. it was either, i gave it to her, or she sat dying, and probably would of died, waiting on a list for an actual donor..

There is a great project to increase DONOR AWARENESS that ends Septemebr 1, 2008. American E*press (the credit card company) will fund the project with the most votes and I would LOVE for it to be the DONOR AWARENESS project.
