Saw her live in 89 with Bebe and Cece, and I'll never forget that night, her creativity and power. Believe me, great singers bring greatness out of each other.
Saw this concert in 97 and couldn't believe it was the same person. I hoped it was temporary, but it wasn't. From that day till this the "voice" has NEVER returned.
I know it. You know it. But nobody knows it like Whitney. I feel so sorry for her.
Keep in mind, in 89 Whitney was just something in-human!! lol. By 97, she'd done two movies, in the midst of her stressful marriage and drug use, etc. but in my opinion, she still nailed it!!
It's the smoking that's caused the vocal probelm(which) she still unfortunately does. It she could quit you'd be amazed how fast her range would return. She still sounds very good in her lower registers and her voice is still pretty strong she just can't sustain her power because of the smoking. If you remeber Whitney always did have a bit of a husky quality in her voice. Stiil all in all there was no one better You can't change history and Whitney was & in some ways still the best singer ever

WHITNEY HOUSTSON!!! I recently saw her in Hamburg and Stavanger and can say she is AMAZING! If you don't love her, don't go to her show. Why would she like negative people in her shows? better she went to the exit. We are so MANY fans anyway!!!

I hate to say this but I wonder if Whitney's career might have been different if she had her brother's complexion? Like I hate to sound negative, but I'm just keeping it real. There's no denying that her voice definitely brought to the top of world musicians, but sometimes I wonder if her caramel complexion helped just a lil bit too? and yes I'm black (around her bro's complexion)

@yurherenow I must admit that was pretty harsh, but if thats how you feel than so be it...All I want to say is just because she decided to choose drugs to comfort her pain dose not mean she's a looser... she still has life and thats the biggest VICTORY of them all...No the voice may not be what it once was but she is hopefully now whole again and gradually getting things back on track... So try to look to the good in every situation as life has its ways of challenging us....

im a huge diana fan. hats off to whitney. I wish she did this solo. whitneys voice is great for this. it requires a simple elegance with a breathy reading and emotion but not too over the top.

@mamamariboo I guess so. 170 million plus worldwide, 26 Grammy nominations, platinum selling comeback album, best selling soundtrack of all time, a recent tour which was one of the top grossing tours of 2010, first number one album on the hip hop/R&B by a female artist, BET Honor Entertainment Award, AMA International Artist award, several AMA awards, hit movies, postive remarks from her peers and other music legends, etc. We will remember her for what she is and what she will be. And she could sing circles around you even with her damaged voice. She's inspired more people and influenced more people than your comments.

Saw her live in 89 with Bebe and Cece, and I'll never forget that night, her creativity and power. Believe me, great singers bring greatness out of each other.
Saw this concert in 97 and couldn't believe it was the same person. I hoped it was temporary, but it wasn't. From that day till this the "voice" has NEVER returned.
I know it. You know it. But nobody knows it like Whitney. I feel so sorry for her.

Keep in mind, in 89 Whitney was just something in-human!! lol. By 97, she'd done two movies, in the midst of her stressful marriage and drug use, etc. but in my opinion, she still nailed it!!

It's the smoking that's caused the vocal probelm(which) she still unfortunately does. It she could quit you'd be amazed how fast her range would return. She still sounds very good in her lower registers and her voice is still pretty strong she just can't sustain her power because of the smoking. If you remeber Whitney always did have a bit of a husky quality in her voice. Stiil all in all there was no one better You can't change history and Whitney was & in some ways still the best singer ever
