  • is this your version of bannock bread??

  • @THREEFLOORSDOWN1 nope, bannock is bannock... :D

it's not mine, it's a very old receipe... before there was corn, millet was used instead.

  • @bushcraftmyway I'm really needing a new video buddy

  • @tjsmith112 new vids on the way! i'll resume posting, one new vid every wekend, as usual... i'll post the first one next weekend.

  • Looks real good. Thanks

    Nate

  • @CdnLifeguard71 it also tastes real good... :D

  • good day man

  • @facatube thank you! :D

  • i will try also to do it next week :) I ate this when i used to go to my grandparents. They were cooking the "bulz" on the hot stove.

  • @gidinceanu on the stove it's almost the same, but you'll miss the smoky flavour... :)

  • i will try also to do it next week :)

  • @gidinceanu maybe you can post a video response?

  • traditional stirrer aka a stick

  • @mintkendishin yep... it's been used for hundreds of hundreds of years - you can't get more traditional than this! :D

  • That looks really really good. I'm going to have to try that out. Thanks.

  • @phreshayr maybe you can post a video response?

  • @bushcraftmyway I could maybe try that. I may not get to it though until next spring sometime. Things are looking pretty busy for me with the other videos I'm wanting to do before freeze up.

  • We call that cheese grits

  • @shippen2010 that is not the first time i see things done in the same way in different places... :)

  • Your recipe sounds very tasty! I bet you could add meat and different cheeses for a change of pace. The aluminum foil idea is very good, too.

I'll have to try this on my upcoming trip. Thanks!!

  • @cleekmaker00 different cheeses (even different stuffing) - yes! aluminium foil - no, because the smell will be different (and, i guess, there will be no crust).

  • I have to try this some time, It looks relly good

  • @ThatDudeFromSweden maybe you can post a video response?

  • @bushcraftmyway I think I will but what kind of cheese did you use for this?

  • @ThatDudeFromSweden a romanian kind - i doubt you can find it, but almost any kind will do.

  • Hey bro. Is it regular or some special corn flour?

  • @sylhawk regular. :)

  • CRAP

  • @EGMAG man, there's something wrong with your comment: the message is missing - there's only your signature visible!

  • looks really tasty

  • @animaster9 that's because it is! :)

  • very interesting

  • @modifiedchevy and tasty, too! :)

  • cn stie cunoaste... esti tare omule.miai facut pofta

  • @jackrusselleko ma bucur! :D

  • De unde se poate procura Esbit-ul? Am mai vazut niste filmulete cu el si mi se pare senzational la dimensiunile reduse pe care le are.

  • @dunhillpallmall ai pm.

  • nice video, will have to try that as well and i will do a vid of it. many just uses this youtube as a show for their kit rather than cookign and other crafts in the backwoods

  • @mazadan looking forward for your vid - i'll know when you'll post it ;) (i'm one of your subscribers - i like the feeling that your vids generate).

  • tried this yesterday, it was great but the mix stuck to my pot and took ages to come off. did this happen to you??

  • @a1993h no, never! to easily clean the pot, just fill it with water and let it sit for half of hour - everything comes off at the first touch.

however, i'm glad that you liked it!

  • Thank you for the video its nice to see it made I read the recipe about a week before I saw this from a friend from Romania.

  • @DAMNITman1 glad you enjoyed it!

  • this is the sweetest video that id pick, although i do not have a camara to post a video post at this time i really wish i did,,, i made this meal for me and my g.f. one day on a picknik....hope u pick me....thanks for the info..

  • @unicron24 thanks for watching, and good luck (i hope you posted a comment on my contest vid, otherwise you are not in...)!

  • Great video, man!

We do something similar here on camp outs, but we use buttermilk biscuit batter instead of corn batter, and we stuff it with ham and cheddar cheese. We also put aluminum foil on the coals so it doesn't get dirty!

  • @SkadiSvass you can, indeed, stuff it with virtually anything edible... :)

maybe you can post a video response?

  • That looks really good!

  • @tobigforyou that's because... well... it is really good! :D

  • Thanx sir. i will try that this weekend with my son.

  • @masonmeep maybe you can post a video response? however, i'm glad you liked it enough to try it!

  • What kind of cheese is best for this dish??

  • @masonmeep that depends on your taste... try with the one you preffer!

  • Another top notch video. 6********. God bless you and your family. John( from Upstate New York )

  • @snaponjohn100 wow! thank you, my friend!

  • I loved your video.

I would be more interested in traditional campfire cooked meals.

This dish looks very tasty. I am going to try it.

I am from Alaska, and understand how fun the outdoors can be.

Its good to see you having fun in the woods in the wintertime.

  • @ursushoribilisron thank you... there will be more outdoor cooking in the future.

i enjoy the outdoors in every season - because every season have something special to enjoy!

  • Ill have to give that a try, good camp food for sure.

  • @MyJogger good and easy to make!

  • Thumbs up!

Thanks for sharing and I really appreciate your style of videos

  • @60odeeman glad you like it!

  • Very interesting, I've never seen something like this before now.

  • @Ghostkamo you should try it - it's light to carry, easy to make and very good eating.

  • I make the same thing here in the southeast U.S. but i use cheese Grits and a hunk of cut up smoked pork. It's better hot but just as good cold as a pick me up latter on, on the trail.

  • @blakke29223 yes indeed, it's just as good later.

  • Looks like a really good, hearty meal especially in cold weather! Great vid, thanks for sharing!

  • @13basilrath66 allways happy to share knowledge!

  • Also enjoyed your "saw" video....Ironic, I carry both the slide out, and swiss army saws....and avidly use them BOTH...Actually, wood (get it?) be lost without them...

    You REALLY in Romania???....WOW

  • @samuel19641 got it! :) and yes, really! (?!?)

  • Great video, thanks. I'm going to give this meal a try this weekend I believe.

  • @DLeRoyKing maybe you can post a video response?

  • @bushcraftmyway

That would be a good idea. Thanks

  • @DLeRoyKing :)

  • Now that looks like a "HAPPY" camper in the end......Could imagine a hunk of roasted meat on top of "Bulz".....Yummmee...

    Great Video

  • @samuel19641 :)

    thank you! :)

  • Looked like a wonderful day in the woods, nice work.

Pretty kule to see a different twist on a great lookin meal made right there in the camp on the fire. That was great.

Looked like a good tasty warm dish...I bet it was good.

You had me at Butter and Cheese!!!

    Great lil vid.

    Thumbs up.

  • @anavidhunter it is good... and easy to make. i'm glad you like it!

  • Great video. I would've fallen asleep after that snack too!

  • @xlr8n99 there's nothing more refreshing than a nap into the woods! :)

  • Corn flour, cheese, butter ! 3 of my favorites ! Looks great , bet its good ! The cheese is it like a goat cheese ?

  • @ppspsd glad you like it! the cheese is something like goat cheese, but it's not goat cheese. however, almost any cheese will work just fine.

  • This sounds good, I'm going to try it.

  • @muddog1561 glad you like it!

  • When looking up telemea cheese...it looks a lot like it's similar to mozzarella ...

  • @yubbayubba it is not... the texture is different, and it does not get "stringy" when heated, like mozzarella... however, mozzarella works fine for this recipe.

  • Very cool! I LOVE cheesy cornbread and being able to make it out in the woods will be so nice! I'll have to try and American version of it when we head out in May! Thank you so much!

  • @yubbayubba glad you like it!

  • what are the approximate ratios for the corn flour and water? This looks like a very tasty dish I'd like to try.

what kind of cheese is that you used?

  • @aeislugh 1:1, as written in the description :) . depending on the corn flour, you might need just a bit more water.

the cheese was something similar to cottage cheese, i suppose (i'm not sure about the correct english for it), or to french goat cheese, but almost any cheese will do.

  • @bushcraftmyway sorry about that, didn't see that in the description, I musta been really tired.

the cheese looks too solid for cottage cheese, at least the type we get over here. I looked it up and wikipedia states its similar to feta, is that right?

  • @aeislugh hey, no problem... :)

feta is more "spreadable" and finer textured than what i used - they are not the same. i'll ask my friends, maybe someone knows how to translate "telemea" (which is the romanian name of that kind of cheese) - google translator insists that cottage cheese = telemea.

  • @bushcraftmyway thats kinda odd, cause like I said, the cottage cheese I know of is almost yogurt like. That looked like it had the consistancy of Gouda, or a really fresh mozzarella

  • @aeislugh unless my friends can help out, this is going to remain a mistery... :)

however, use what you got - feta, mozzarella or whatever, they all work well (maybe except some odd french special cheese).

  • Nice... Thank You for sharing it. I gonna try it.

  • @lauderdaleflorida glad you like it!

  • nice vid, man! ma bucur sa intalnesc si un roman survivalist pe youtube :)

  • @lerxtrm thank you! nu-s nici singurul... si nici "survivalist"! :)

  • Looks tasty buddy, is corn flour the same as corn meal we have over here in the US?

  • @karenchakey yes it is.

  • @karenchakey corn meal is more course than flour. Look in the "mexican" section for Maza or grind the corn meal to a flour like consistency.

  • @doomcannon445 you can use the corn meal as it is.

  • @doomcannon445 Thanks buddy for the tip, I will look for Maza I am sure I have seen it at Krogers!

  • Nice and easy to prepare recipe. Thanks for the video. Regards, Tim.

  • @tullysika indeed, our corn flour is coarse, not fine.

  • Good video and interesting dish I will have to try it sometime. I'm curious what type of rucksack is that?

  • @SluggySlugworth thank you! it's a "ron thompson" - i usually use it for fishing.

  • @SluggySlugworth To me it looks like a Bison fishing/camping Ruck but a better version of it. Im curious myself lol

  • @Ghillieinthebush lol they all look alike... one big compartiment, 3 outside pockets, 1 collapsible chair.

mine is not very confortable to carry, but for short hikes, light loads or for fishing is good enough.
