very excellent job ~ when i studied in university, i did some similar trainning like this~ although my present work is much more difficult than those what I did like this in the past, it is still very valuable in my life~ i established a good basic through the trainning~
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with me, I'm happy with this. I'm just a novice with a little ability. and how your words make me go ahead. Thanks for everything.
Well, in this case I use a small Sherline lathe because is the only one I have here in this video in the case, but a big lathe make it more easy and without risk.
Very cool you being a student of the "Politehnica" University of Bucharest.
Well done. That operation is called trepanning, in case you didn't know. Same word is used for the process of cutting holes in the skull for medical purposes.
@tryally Your English is very good. I enjoy seeing you make your own tools. I worked in a small screw machine shop where we made a lot of our own tool. You can make a very nice spot drill from a broken tap, for example.
I see you use good quality oil. I don't turn metal, but if I have to use the drill press I use oil that I get out of the engine of my mower when I change it.

Such operation can be done on a bigger lathes and bigger semifabricates (your case the pulley)? Or it is considered too risky?
Thank You.

Yes, you can dilute oil and kerosene oil
With aluminum it is very good
Shortly I will make some videos on my tools
Use obsolete drills, and the result is fantastic

latheworks 3 years ago
