Honestly, i thought the same thing. Then my girlfriend left their albums at my place one day, and wow!. I have been a huge fan ever since. You should listen to both of their albums. All the way through, really, really good.

IF you think The Who and The Rolling stones are far better in your standards then The Strokes would easily come close to that. The Strokes innovated rock and roll to this modern age, making it something new. The Strokes are not indie. They are influenced that new style f music. Vampire Weekend is just a follow up to the whole Indie rock movement. They're great, but they dont beat Ze Strokes. You should stand corrected.

I dont like indie 103.1 because of the 5min+ commercial blocks but they play the best music by far in LA. This is a great song anyways.

if your taste if music varies according to the popularity of what you like then you need to rethink what you value in music....if they are popluar its because they are good and youre not the only person who gets it.unless theyve been mass marketed which they havent.great band.great song.great album...bit too much like the police but otherwise nothing to complain about...hope to see them live soon.

I agree with you totally and I am not saying that I will lose interest in the band if they become famous, but I would hate to see a good band get recognized for the wrong reason. The only analogy that comes to me is in relation to cars. Ferraris are great cars and they are appreciated for their perfection in performance and style. You want a car enthusiast, like Jay Leno, to buy this car so its get appreciated for the right reasons rather than Paris Hilton because she thinks it looks pretty.

Yeah, I really like these too. I like how catchy their songs are and fun to listen along with some quirky lyrics. I do have the same worry about them becoming a huge hit and having to listen to "A-Punk" on every freakin radio station and people talking about how much they love Vampire Weekend because they listen to their one song. I am not saying I don't want them to be famous and become popular, but just not "MTV" popular. What they've done with MTV now is very sad.
