  • Don't know why Aunt Bea was so hard to get. Poor Brisco. LOL

  • cool Recommendation dcawtfytam

  • Have been looking for this Darling song, but I had the lyrics wrong. Glad to finally find it! Thanks for posting.

  • My sister is getting married in New Jersey. I'm gonna sing this as a solo.

    I think I'll be a big hit.

  • @LRoberdel Yes that would be a big hit at a wedding ☺ There are more lyrics to this song but were cut due too TV time constraints. I have heard Roy Acuff and Hank Williams Sr. do it with class....Good luck and thanks for watching.

  • This is great

  • hell yeah i love andy griffith

  • Denver Pyle who played Briscoe could not sing so someone else did the voice over for him in that song.

  • @dukefan256 really?? that sounds like him.

  • @operaredneck That what the producers of the Dukes of Hazzard (the tv show) did for a part that Denver sang for that show.

  • This is a very pretty song. gingercady007 I hope your husband caterwall outside your window.

  • HAHA..I wish my husband would caterwall outside my window. lol

  • @gingercady007 I used to caterwall this to my ex when I was in the shower...she appreciated it about as much as Aunt Bea.

  • this a roy acuff song. picked special for this particular episode

  • Young people :p

  • dooley

  • I'm gonna have to think this thing out in deed!

  • More power to you Brisco!

  • My favorite part in this episode is when they're playing Doug's Tune and Briscoe Darling keeps movin closer to Aunt Bea

  • This courtin' chivaree is a lifelong custom a mah people! :D

  • Well, to us it's disturbing the piece! GOODNIGHT!

  • The Dillards! that's the name.

  • The song, Low and Lonely, is a Roy Acuff number from the early 1940s. The Darlings are actually a bluegrass music group whose name escapes me right now.

  • Good episode. Funny when Aunt Bee and Andy trick Briscoe into showing how strong he is and make Aunt Bee seem less attractive to him! "I ain't about to be beat to death with no spoon!"

  • ha, this is a great episode..

  • I do so love "The Darlings" on the Andy Griffin Show. Their music is contagious - makes you want to dance. Of course, this one here is a little on the low and lonely side - Denver is not a singer but when he's a'courtin it doesn't matter does it? Was this song first recorded by Cowboy Copas years ago? Just wondering. Thanks. -Paula

  • One of the better versions was recorded by

Ricky Skaggs in the '80s when he was doing

country recordings (not Bluegrass). He did

7 or 8 albums, I think. Quality stuff, as

    always, when it's Ricky.

  • Man, you aren't kidding !! Ricky does an incredible version of this on an early album he released, Waiting For The Sun To Shine. I've got that, one of his better albums, more country than bluegrass. Nevertheless, this is a funny episode from the Andy Griffith show !

  • I want to make love to Aunt Bee!

  • lol i've always loved this episode!

  • I LOVE THE SONG BY HIM ''LOW AND LONELY.

  • I can take some manners, and I can take some cleanin' up, and I can take a bossy mouth, but I ain't aBOUT to be beat to death with no spoon!

  • nice quote rushhoney2-"She's a buggin!"

  • Thanks, jl327fife...

Ya got time to BREATHE, ya got time fer MUSIC!

  • "D'ya bring yer strangin' instrument?"

  • "I di'n know you strang!"

  • Andy: It's alot warmer here lately.

Briscoe: Alot warmer and alot more painful!

  • This is a good song and the way Denver Pyle sings it is really not bad.....

  • Although the title is Low and Lonely.
