i feel that jim is a better guitar player. i like both but this guy always, to me anyway, sounded cleaner. i was never a big modern metal fan (80's for me) but i remember getting all hope is gone and being blown away by the guitar work :)

All I can say if you guys think Jim is to good to be in Slipknot than why does Jim feel Slipkont is good enough for him. You can't be flashy all the time and 99% of bands who go for flash write songs that are complicated but shitty. There are thousands of guitar players that can do what is shown on this video but there are very few who can write good song like Slipknot has written. Less is more most times. Thats my opinion.

I'm a big fan of Rammstein, but if you listen to their songs, especially their good ones, there really isnt a lot of complicated stuff going on, hell i could play the drums or guitar in that song and not be half bad at it, and i suck at both instruments. But they play it well, even live, and it really comes off as being an amazing band

what about a proco rat distortion :P worked for me.. it adds some distortion, if you want a filter and with the "volume" poti in combination with your amp volume you can make your guitar more sensitive for played notes.. so you dont have to fight for every single note

my amp isnt too bad though, 100W for about $350 (used)

Funny,because there are haters here on YouTube that claim these guys can't play because they're humble enough to realize that maybe they don't need leads w/in the band of Slipknot.Fear Factory did the same+in fact,kind of took the leads out of metal for a while there.I'm not saying that I don't dig leads since I've been playing since '84 but I like leads better WHEN THEY'RE CALLED FOR as opposed to making a section intentionally for a lead or some sort of show off section.Much better that way!
