  • everytime i pull my nokia n800 out in public people tend to look at me, i guess they are amazed. my friend sold his ipod touch and got a n800. i mean the n800 does alot of shit that other devices cant do. i love the transmission application, i download torrents to my device like crazy, thats where i get some of my movies, albums, and songs. i have 32gb on my device too, two 16gb each in a slot

  • hey, will it work with my cingular sim card?

  • I think it's going to get to the point where cellphones become modem-like devices and our portable internet devices become the interface.

Perhaps the Modem-like device could even sport extra storage, not unlike the iPhone though it's interface and OS would be simpler and it's features less advanced so you could do basic phone/text with it but use your Internet device for all the real stuff.

That way, your plan isn't changing every 5 minutes and you have an external drive that could even USB.

  • My adobe flash player is no longer working on my nokia n800 so i can not view youtube on it, as i need to update the abobe flash player but when i download file from there website, and go to install, it says corrupted file, do i need to send it to application manager if so, do i need to open it from there, could please advice.

  • i got this internet tablet a few hours ago and im completely puzzled. i have a t-mobile blackberry 8100 and i was just curious is if i could use the unlimited internet feature on the blackberry on the n800. ive gone as far as pairing the 2 but like i said, im puzzled. i do not know how to use internet off my blackberry. please help?

  • if you have a cell phone w/ bluetooth, you can connect to the mobile web and call from Skype.

So in a way, it IS a phone =P

  • Any internet-connected computer is a phone, if you count Skype or other internet phone services.

  • a computer can become everything.

  • Absolutely, it's a universal machine really. The more advanced the computer the less specialist hardware it needs.

  • Would you really have enough bandwidth for a VOIP call though?

  • do you mean processor? yes.

its basically a mobile version of Skype. Thoughtfix has a video of him making a video call to someone.

  • Nah I mean internet bandwith. I know it can make a VOIP call, I do it with Skype as well as GrandCentral + Sipp. I don't think the bandwith from a cell phone could support VOIP.

  • Is this a phone or what :-)

Actually, I use it with Skype, GoogleTalk, Asterisk (VoIP/SIP) and Gizmo. Basically... its far better than a cellphone and far cheaper than a cellphone.

  • will it work on verizon?

  • So, what service does this get? Verizon?

  • hey

i am very curious, if it can browse the internet ,

will there be a temporary internet file floder in the n800 tablet. i am reli curious.. hope to hear from you .. thanks

  • should i use the internet calling to use it as a phone and get rid of my worthless free cell phone?

  • so to make calls on the n800 who do you pay???do you have to go somewhere and sign a contract i know the pc calls are free but what about the ones from the n800 to actual phones?

  • It's not a "phone" but it can easily make calls. So no, not a traditional phone as in complete service provider lockdown and bonage, but able to make crisp calls to other people with internet access. And of course their is ip->pstn available if you insist on using ancient technologies.

  • hahaha iphone suckss.

  • And to make it smaller to fit in the pocket, Nokia simply has to take out the empty areas on each side of the 4.3" screen. They can put the buttons on the border of the screen and move the speakers over on the side.

  • The only reason Nokia won't put HSDPA in it, is that Nokia's big cellular partners DON'T want people to mess with Linux open-source applications like VOIP/IM/Chat and such directly on their HSDPA network. Then the reason Nokia doesn't put a better Multimedia chip in it because cellular providers wouldn't want people to stream HD video on their HSDPA which cannot manage that type of bandwidth.

  • It shouldn't be a cellular phone, but it should be a VOIP phone using WiFi and cellular HSDPA. HSDPA is not big and not memory hungry, Nokia has no problem putting HSDPA in the smaller N95, so they would have no problem putting in a N800 type of hardware.

  • it's got skype and gizmo and googletalk, so yes, you can "phone" from it.

  • Mac would make millions more if they took the phone out of iphone. Imagine an 80 gig video ipod with a wi-fi browser built in. I'd buy that before getting stuck with the new(now more expensive) at&t...But I am sure someone will hack the iphone soon so we all can use it.

  • reply to myself, just found archos makes what i just described, an 80 gig media device with wifi on a 7 inch screen, all for about 450.

  • i know is not a phone... but, can u call someone from that internet tablet?? i mean

    a voice call

  • omg i love that fone

  • Wow, what a cool phone! What service does it work on?

  • So... Is this thing a phone or what?! :P
