As a skater, I feel Bam brought more of an attitude towards modern day skating. He embodies the "fuck it" attitude of just doing stupid shit for the hell of it. Rodney did a lot of crazy shit but, I don't see him as a much of a skater. I see him more as an inventor. Both style and technicalities are what makes skating what it is today. Personally, it is like comparing Dragonforce to Cream. They are both rock but, in no way the same thing.
