This seems like a reaction from a fruststed doctor in NHS for reaosns which only Dr David Nun will know. His frustations coems out when he gets an opportunity. Anyway I feel sad that Dr David Nun was rude to teh PM.
This video is misleading. The doctor never actually had a go at Cameron and Clegg - he had a go at the camera crew and told them to get out because he didn't feel they were following hospital hygiene regulations. The 8 dislikes must be from Cameron and Clegg.
Sounds like a lot a Conservative supporters didn't like their "glorious" leaders getting a good bollocking. Only a mild skirmish compared with what they will get if they carry on mismanaging the economy and pissing everyone off with their incompetence.
@2010dispencer yeah because Labour didn't get us into this mess obviously. hilarious worldview you have. bet you vote Labour because they're for "the working man" and "my father voted Labour and my father's father" seriously all they did was line their own pockets when in office. hahaha incompetence?! have they entered us into a war no one wanted to be part of or sold off our gold reserves to invest in the euro which is crashing just now? no.
Being an NHS professional myself I can assure u that losing people like that makes no difference to the level of care patients receive. We have so many other excellent doctors who pride themselves in the "Quality" of care given and not the numbers. If britain's moral fabric has disintegrated such that an occurrence like this were allowed in front of patients and colleagues alike..then where do we draw the line??
No matter this surgeons opinion, we should all strive to achieve a certain level of professionalism. He had a point about cross infection but going about it that way just highlighted how some of our NHS doctors disgrace themselves by thinking they are god-like! Too many "Ego-massagers", not enough enough focus on ..''we are here to serve and help patients recover''
You don't talk to the leaders of a country like that and get away with it.
Maybe he did go over board but do you really think suspending him is good news for the NHS? Losting an excellent surgeon will only leave patients in longer waiting queues and cause further distress. And all because a doctor was sticking up for his patients care...? If we are focusing on the service for patients then surely this is the worst outcome possible?
Why should the 'leaders of a country' be treated any differently to anyone else when people's health are at risk?
I have worked in an operating Theatres for 30 years, and this was the sort of behaviour that we had to put up with, by a small number of surgeons who thought of themselves as god.
How many visitors roll there sleeves up and take there out doors cloths off before entering a ward, not many I dont think. so why make an example of Mr cameron and Mr clegg.
Mr Nun just showed himself up as a very angry person, who needs some gardening leave.
@1958eagle Clearly you missed Mr Nunn's major point which was that rolling up sleeves and not wearing ties is a way of distracting from the real problem of bed overcrowding rather than an effective way of dealing with hospital acquired infections.
I loved it..Loved the way Doctor said and loved the way Mr David Cameron took it.Its called humanity and professionalism. If it was in my country Pakistan or our neighbouring country India the doctor wouldn't have come in or had he been so daring to say so he could have been killed by now.
I disagree with this surgeon's actions. If it was any other patient's relative, then we as doctors point their mistakes very politely. He has no right to shout at any one. He could have politely told them off. For god's sake, prime minister should mean something. Shameful behavior.
David Nunn is a great doctor and one of the best knee/hip surgeon in the country. He is a a very hard working and very caring doctor to his patients.
Cammeron and clegg were there mainly for photo shoots and it served them right that David Nunn bravely acted like that. Many congratulations, Mr Nunn. Well done. All your patients do support you.
Quality, well done Mr Nunn, you would shout at me & I expect you to shout at everyone else whoever they are. Rules are rules, many folk die of infections & it's up to you & your staff to prevent this. Thumbs up from me, nice one for having the balls to say what you think.
the surgeon is angry because some bureaucratic twat and an infection control zealot, with no evidence, has made him dress like a guy in an icecream shop - and then the same hospital bureacrat _ media lakies ++ winder about in their suits...its time for real doctors to get angry on many fromts..
@Smashmellow1 no, he's dressed like that because there is a very strong evidence base that doing so reduces cross infection and therefore reduces death of patients.
"Full Clip"? It's the same short clip twice with some pointless rewind effect in the middle. Great. You must be a wow at parties. (Comment regarding the original clip posted on the original clip)
yet another example of the goverment setting 1 rule for 1, another rule for the other....abit like the wars we are having, (free those countrys we are at war with so they can go on strike,BUT WE MUST STOP ARE OWN FROM STRIKING....they have millions of diffrent taxes to pay so we can send BILLIONS abroad and pay our expenses ect.. ...we must put cuts on everything and put the price of life up but NOT WAGES......blar blar blar blar my rant goes on for ages, ....its all so fucking wrong....
@halmrc that's exactly the opposite of what this video is showing - an ordinary senior Doctor is telling off the PM and his camera crew for not following the rules. He's making no exceptions, he's making sure that everyone follows rules, including the rich and famous and important.
@KillerPandaRage how?! That makes NO sense. Because he's treating them like everyone else that means that he's making them out to be more important???!! Rules are made for a reason, he's making sure there's no exceptions.
@FireflyFanatic3 "he's making sure that everyone follows rules, including the rich and famous and important." You said that... that implies that they are important! :p I totally agree with you, though. There should be no exceptions at all! I really enjoyed watching the expression of David Cameron's face when he was told to get out!
The MRSA fiasco was due to overcrowded, unclean wards. Had nothing to do with doctors' cuffs and ties. Unless of course someone can point me to the evidence.
tht was exactly my point. There is no evidence for this. unfortunately, politic is all about perception. Because of MRSA, the PCT has to be seen doing something abt it eventhough there is no evidence to support the practice of tie-free, cuffs-free doctors in combating infections. However, the ONE good thing abt this implementation is tht everyone now washes their hands (an effective way to minimise cross contamination but had not strongly being enforced in the past) .
Excellent. He was right to get angry, and I loved the way he made his point so publicly (as doctors we have had our dress code taken down a few notches so as to bb able to command less respect). I also liked the nurse/matron, no doubt a suck up manager of sorts, try to placate him, and hush up his freedom of speech. Typical of these sorts of people who only want to 'get the job done' i.e. walk all over everyone else and their (human) rights
He is absolutely right. This highly respected surgeon previously would have walked the corroidors looking highly professional with a suit and tie until the NHS beaurocrats insisted that doctors dispel with their ties (hence his bow tie) and cuffs - ie no suit. There is absolutely no evidence to support this at all anywhere. It is luncay and all about controlling the behaviour of doctors to the nth degree.
Well done Mr Nunn for making a point and standing up to the nonsense.
I work at the same hospital. We did put up a fight to make a point based on the same argument you raised. Doctors are told to practice evidence based medicine, where is the evidence for this. Simple, the MRSA fiasco a few years ago has compelled the hospital trust to give in.
Don't be so ridiculous, he is not right, he is an idiot! (This is proved by the fact he is wearing a bowtie). A camera crew are there purely as observers and therefore pose no risk of cross contamination unlike the politicians and doctors.
@MahMahAfro3000 I think the point is that one angle is near Clegg, another is practicably on Cleggs lap and then Clegg is seen putting something under the bed. So it appears as if Clegg was recording the footage before the media went in.
@TheArab27 not at all. These reporters go around making headlines about the spread if disease in hospital wards and then walk around in them without scrubbing up. He was right to tell them to get out.
This is not the full clip. The flash skips over at least 30 seconds.
