I have a theory that today's movies are made by people who grew up playing 5 hours of video games per day, for people who play 7 hours of video games per day. They don't make em like this anymore.
God Bless, this guy. He's outlived all his friends - William Holden, Lee Marvin, Jack Palance, Peckinpah (many who were younger than him), and he's had a hell of a career. Actually almost every cool macho action film from the 50's to the 80's had this guy in it. Long live Ernie, probably my favorite living actor.
i wish they woud put back all the cuts scenes back into the wild bunch sam had to cut a lot of scenes out and then the studios cut it more stupid its a great movie i have the whole movie back in 1970
Borgnine is one of those guys who just never turns in a bad performance, even when he's in a less-than-spectacular film (like say, The Devil's Rain). I often wonder how The Godfather would have turned out had he gotten the role of Vito Corelone instead of Brando (who was himself brilliant in the part, of course).
@TypicalJAFO I suspect that Vito would have been strangely lovable. I'm surprised the room in this clip didn't explode from all the "epic" coming from Ernie. Whatta legend.
Well said & well put! I second that emotion! Mr Borgnine has always but his ALL in every role, no matter how big or small the role or the size of the budget. A GIANT talent, that's for sure!
