As an ole' band director from waaay back, may I just quietly suggest that there well may be NOTHING grotesque, unmusical, or garish here...i.e. the gym hardwood floor and super resonating stage and the quality (or lack thereof) of the mics can make it "seem" like they're just a bunch of blats on parade when in reality it may well have sounded quite musical if one had been there in person. Just a thought...

Good god. My ears. My school band played this (along with another school) for Music in Motion, we had 5 drummers, 3 guitars, and a keyboard along with 2 school bands. It was awesome.

I know there aren't any mics, but you could've played softer and with good tone. The crowd isn't that far away from the stage. I give whoever's playing the melody a thumbs up even if the notes were screaming at me, he hit 'em and I give him a thumbs up, however I could play this song better than all of you and I've only been playing for 6 months... I wonder if they're playing something that is above their level of ability. They have to learn how to tune notes by ear and possibly learn to start off at a lower dynamic and progress. Not blow so hard into the instrument would be better too ;P
