I remember a few years back Tippmann made a pump marker on the same premise. Used propane instead of CO2to propel the paintballs. Unfortunaetly, it wasn't that popular. Now, can't find a single damn one.

thankyou. It was a prototype, so it was never really designed to be practical. More of a "lets see if I can do this" type thing. I contemplated making a sniper rifle or something, but I'm not much into paintball. More into real guns and cannons. It's the smell of gunpowder ;)

The wire going into the jar is a lighter igniter. This makes a spark setting off the mix of alch and air. It did have a bit of a kick because the inner area of that jar is pretty big for this. It's basically re-directing an explosion through a hole the size of a paintball so it's bounf to kick, especially since I was holding it with one hand.

I'm a chemistry major and I feel that I may be able to clear the air. Propanol and Ethanol both contain an alcohol group but are totally different substances entirely, propane does not contain an alcohol group. yuna is not entirely right either, because propane and propanol have only single bonds, but the difference is that one of the Hydrogens are replaced by an alcohol functional group. While they are all flamable, they all have different properties and react differently per situation.

they are not different carbon. There is no such thing as this carbon is more of carbon than the other carbon. Propanol, propane is are both CH3, CH2 and so on. You can get a basic hand lighter, open it, you will see a sparker, use the wires connected to it and make two holes in a medicide bottle or any type of NON plastic (soda bottle, water bottle) and connect them apart. Press the ignitor, it should spark. Now take some AXE or any FLAMABLE spray and spray it in for LESS THAN 1 second! BOOM! Look around!

not much to explain, just a lighter igniter, jar, and paint ball gun barrel with a few sprays of alcohol. Try at your OWN RISK though, peanut butter jars aren't exactly pressure rated.
