Looks like someone doesn't know how to build a motor. Looks like whomever had the car poored boost into an otherwise stock motor and blew out the bottom end.
Yes, I know. The SS package comes with a 260HP and 290Torque 4Cyl turbocharged engine. But you can easily take the motor to a shop, tell them to turn the boost way up, and thats what this seems like happened. Because those motors are built, and they're pretty tough, so it either has been through heck, or something.

That was some heads-up driving on the part of the Porsche driver! Too bad about the HHR, but you did a great job of not getting involved in the deal! LD71 :D

possible oil feed line to the turbo breaking loose??? would explain why it smoked first and then flamed, that and loosing grip in the rear only.

This vehicle had to conform to strict SCCA class rules where build up of the engine in many areas was not considered legal.
