Just saw them in Brum on the farewell tour - oh man, they've still got it. I can't think of many contemporary bands that play that tight, write so poignantly or in Mark's case, sing that well live! Thanks guys - it was a heck of a ride!
I love the fact they would come on stage to Poison by the Prodigy. seen them in Cardiff in a club the size of a phonebox a few years back. We were chanting Blue army Blue army! Their faces were a picture. Great, great band.
@JeredtheShy - LIES! How can a time when autotune is considered 'cool' be better than a time when tunes like this were top of the charts? A time when I could actually listen to radio 1 without turning the radio off in disgust at horrific atrocities that are current pop 'songs'?!
@RohanTheTeaLover Ignore the radio. You guys are selling yourselves waaaaay short. I've heard so much amazing shit in the last ten years it's not even funny. People can put together entire albums of top shelf work without the permission of label heads, unlike the 90's. Artists can do whatever they want, however they damn well please, and they can find you, and you can find them. These days every band is Fugazi. Genius is everywhere.
@JeredtheShy - I do ignore the radio, but I wish I didn't have to. I know LOADS of awesome and talented bands out there at the moment (flipron, 12 stone toddler, kaizer's orchestra, to name a few), and the amount of good (in some respects) that the digital revolution has had. But you can;t deny that there is a vast and overwhelming wave of utter bollocks being pumped out all the time, and that there was a lot less of it (or at least the general public didn't think it was good) in the 90's.
We're supporting the singer at The Cockpit, Leeds on March 3rd and can get tickets considerably cheaper than normal door / ticket price. Just send us a PM and we'll sort you out. Hope you like our tracks, see you on the 3rd x

these guys were one of the better things to come from "britpop" expecting to fly was their only real work of substance and a bitch to follow ,they never did recapture the initial brilliance , once they were touted as future giants , great band bad timing
oh so very very nostalgic now - man 1996 was the greatest year of my life music wise. It was like the swinging 60s were back and the summer would never end. Now I am grumpy its over - curses.
What a great song! The Brit Pop era was fantastic with solid bands being a dime a dozen for a few years. Those same bands would be the "saviours of music" if they arrived on the scene today.
Most of the singles you'll find here are on "Expecting To Fly" their 1st and best. I really enjoyed their 2nd, "Return to the Last Chance Saloon", though it probably takes a bit more getting into, some heavier/complex stuff there. They did 2 more, neither of them did much for me TBH.
Wow, 30 years old now but can remember sitting in my room at uni at lunchtime stoned listening to this really, really great album. It's actually a classic because i don't cringe at all when i think back - really great stuff. 5/5
