Great video. Awesome advice, definitely the best how to video i've seen when it comes to wheelies on a dirt bike.
As for all the questions im seeing in the comments, it doesnt matter what gear your in but i would recommend if your just starting out to start with 1st or 2nd in a easy roll. Practice rear break control just as the video states and work on getting the front wheel up even if its just for a second than work from there. And as far as the clutch goes just play around with it. Personal
@MrRene83 A kx500 should have no problem pulling up in any gear with just throttle. Like the guy said, it doesn't matter what gear. It's what you feel comfortable with.
dude you make it look so easy...everytime i pop a wheelie it feels like im going to fall off,is it natural to feel that way?and i whant to ask is it better to just wheelie in one gear or should i shift gears while wheeliing?
i have a 110cc semi auto dirt bike 4 gears so no clutch how do i lift the front wheel i cant get it off the ground and the guy i bought it off could wheelie it any gear am i too light?
I just tried my first wheelie on my yz125 today! got the tire about 1 1/2 feet in the air! and i didn't fall over. its way scarier than i thought it would be though.. but i guess its just something to get used to.
i cant seem to lift it up with the clutch when i pop it. it just seems to spin but when i give it gas it lifts up, and it happens so fast its hard to find the balance point and its sketchy. im also having trouble comfortably resting my foot over the break, it feals wierd and messes up my body positioning if that makes sense. any tips?
hey man its so hard to use the back break never used it once not getting far tho :S could u give me sum points how to use the back brake ect cheers man!! keep up ur proo
Imagine you're going along in first. Os it easier just to pull the clutch in and pop it (stayin in first) or pull the clutch in, go into 2nd (clutch still in) and then pop it into 2nd?
@OSCAR13431 What are you riding? if it's an enduro or mx bike, it should lift easy as in first second and maybe even third, if a trail bike (XR200 or something alike) go in second and use the clutch :), don't be afraid to rev your bike
Can you do long wheelies with one gear like 2nd or 3rd gears or do you have to switch gears to do long wheelies? And if you can, how and what are the main things you have to remember? Would be really nice help if you answer =). I have ktm exc 125 and i'm not too good at them.
Hi, i was wondering (anyone is welcome to answer this) if wheeling you need to be a certain weight ive done 1 really really trying standing up but i canr seem to get them sitting down! I weigh 115 pounds im 5'4 14 and i ride a ktm 250 xcf. Sombody please reply!
@chandlerm150150 dirtbikes - 1st or 2nd gear and streetbikes 3rd or 4th..thats what i used to get the feel of them..you will learn the revs your bike needs pretty quickly
Its a lot harder to do slow wheelies on a 2 stroke becuase the power band is kicks in at a higher rpm than on a 4 stroke where you have that instant power as soon as you get on the throttle. I can ride a wheelie forever on my kawi 110 but cant do a wheelie for more than 20ft on my 125.
Try fanning the clutch - on a 125 I would give it plenty of revs, fan the clutch and control the wheelie mainly with body positioning and the rear brake.
@team404 what about a CR250?, i find that by the time you get traction and the front kicks up its got so much loft momentum you have to jab the brakes or youll end on your arse
I am a new rider and my parents bought me a 120cc single stroke honda to learn. I now know how to ride pretty well so my parents bought me 250cc electic start bike. I now race my dad and cousins who have been riding alot longer than I have. I was wondering 1. if a wheelie is possible on either one of these bikes? and 2. would this be a good time in my riding career to start to learn tricks?
hmm disagree, i have a kawasaki motocross KX85 and without a clutch, just pulling and throttling, i overwheelie. and almost fall over, alot of power for its size
@team404 practice is key i was trying to do it on my ktm 250 2 stroke and i was doing it but i couldnt hold them long enough maybe more practice for me
@davidbenedik1 I have the same bike and you can certainly wheelie with it. Granted I am not very good at it but I personally find it easier to do in 2nd gear. Since the rear tire doesn't have huge lugs, in dirt you have to give it quite a bit of throttle.
@xXmotocrosshugoXx i have a 85 as well dont listen to him get it just before powerband in 2nd dont use the clutch and then rip the throttle open and lean back if you go to far back then tap the back brake and shut the throttle off and lean fowards. when your up you need to learn thottle control on your own
This video is BY FAR the most helpful I have seen yet! This is the only tutorial that covers every aspect in depth well enough for me to feel comfortable trying wheelies, so major kudos to team404!
Heyyyyyy please please please reply :'( no one else will...........I have a debi Senda 125 Baja (4 stroke) its a little on the heavu side, i have some vids up on my channel if you get a few mins check them out please, I give it high revs whilst in 1st gear, sit back on the seat, let the clutch out slow untill it bites then give it more gas the let the clutch out fully and all it does it jolts violantly forword :'( ??????? what am i doing wrong, ps i'm covering the back break :D safe riding all.
i have a an exc250 09 so not exactly low power :P but i notice a few askin about low powered bikes. yes it will work, but maybe a bit more effort is required. im still findin balance point with slow wheelies so im no expert. but as your coming into the wheelie pull the front brakes and dip the front of the bike to preload ur springs, make it a bit easier to loft. may take a few taps of the front brake in a row to get it right but slow and steady. and look skyward. seems scary. but works.

although, with a little more aggresive clutch release and a few more revs, you will pop the front wheel up on just about anything. The trick is to find the right amount for your bike.
@xiaozhubest this technique is general across all bikes, on a twostoke though, you might find you need to fan the clucth a little to keep it in the band when popping the front wheel up
What bike you running here? Sounds like a 450 -4 ? Black and red must be a Honda? Mine is a 82 yamaha 465 two stroke, and i've been a bit scared to try it, because that thing has a lot of snap and will go over easy. I did it in second on accident with no clutch popping once...
@sureshtmg 2 stroke means the spark plug ignites the fuel in the combustion chamber every time. 4 stroke it ignites every OTHER time. 2 stroke is less fuel efficient then 4 stroke but i ride 2 stroke and Ive noticed it gets a hell of a lot more power the 4 stroke bikes.
@KawasakiDirtbiker i agree i been on two stroke since i could walk there a pain in the ass to control (slow wheelie its either no power or balls to the wall gotta trust your back brake and stay in the balance point which will feel strait up that feeling when you think you gone to far is about where you wanna be lol you see someone riding a slow control wheelie on a two stroke they know whats up
@KawasakiDirtbiker why easy on 4 stroke and hard on 2 stroke? just curios :) i have a yamaha DT175ccm 2 stroke but dont know how to pull a good wheelie
how do you keep the clutch in and still be going? do you start going then release the throtle and then pull in the clutch as your rolling and then rev and release the clutch? will it help to compress my forks before i try to wheelie
Yes, thats exactly right mate. Start off slow, not much faster then walking pace, then pull in the clucth, and mixed with some revs, releasing the clutch should get your font wheel airborne. You want to practice this slow at first, working up the height slowly, also, you can do wheelies by first compressing the forks, but its better practice and a better habit not to.

@team404 n now! wat da fuck is an 'stroke'?? bt hey i can ride da bike very well... n btw, sorry 4 da question which may even sound like a joke 2 u.
sureshtmg 9 months ago
@sureshtmg 2 stroke means the spark plug ignites the fuel in the combustion chamber every time. 4 stroke it ignites every OTHER time. 2 stroke is less fuel efficient then 4 stroke but i ride 2 stroke and Ive noticed it gets a hell of a lot more power the 4 stroke bikes.

@KawasakiDirtbiker i find it easier on 2 stroke. i got an exc250 and its seems a lot easier to control power. general preference haha

@KawasakiDirtbiker dude i can't competitively ride a 2 stroke anymore becos 4 strokes have made me so lazy, they make everything easier!!!!

@KawasakiDirtbiker why is that
guitarherofreak1695 10 months ago
@KawasakiDirtbiker if u learn the rear brake, it doesnt matter... any power is coltrolled by the brake
MrCeccarelli1980 9 months ago
@KawasakiDirtbiker i agree i been on two stroke since i could walk there a pain in the ass to control (slow wheelie its either no power or balls to the wall gotta trust your back brake and stay in the balance point which will feel strait up that feeling when you think you gone to far is about where you wanna be lol you see someone riding a slow control wheelie on a two stroke they know whats up

how do you keep the clutch in and still be going? do you start going then release the throtle and then pull in the clutch as your rolling and then rev and release the clutch? will it help to compress my forks before i try to wheelie
oMathiaso 1 year ago
@oMathiaso
Hey mate.
