  • i tried this and got pretty good at it and it helps alot to find not to hard or soft of dirt and also try it slightly uphill

  • Personally i dont like to full pop my clutch. Just practice till you find the sweet spot and work from there.

  • Great video. Awesome advice, definitely the best how to video i've seen when it comes to wheelies on a dirt bike.

As for all the questions im seeing in the comments, it doesnt matter what gear your in but i would recommend if your just starting out to start with 1st or 2nd in a easy roll. Practice rear break control just as the video states and work on getting the front wheel up even if its just for a second than work from there. And as far as the clutch goes just play around with it. Personal

  • Why is it whenever someone lists their bike type it's sounds almost like code name for cock size...?

  • 12'o clock boy wheelie

  • What gear for a kx500? And should pop the clutch or just give it a lot of gas?

  • @MrRene83 A kx500 should have no problem pulling up in any gear with just throttle. Like the guy said, it doesn't matter what gear. It's what you feel comfortable with.

  • what bike is that?

  • dude you make it look so easy...everytime i pop a wheelie it feels like im going to fall off,is it natural to feel that way?and i whant to ask is it better to just wheelie in one gear or should i shift gears while wheeliing?

  • when u say drop the clutch is it a literal just letting it go all at once is a very fast but controlled dropping clutch?

  • can you make a vid showing how to wheelie a 2 stroke bike?

  • im 13 on a cr85r expert you think thats a good bike to do it on ...im just conserned about the power band...

  • @calebbarger15 concerned i would think!! are u american?

  • Great intro & focus on small steps.

  • I am only 15 and I really wanna try and wheelie my crf250r hahaha :)

  • i have a 110cc semi auto dirt bike 4 gears so no clutch how do i lift the front wheel i cant get it off the ground and the guy i bought it off could wheelie it any gear am i too light?

  • nice vid

  • I just tried my first wheelie on my yz125 today! got the tire about 1 1/2 feet in the air! and i didn't fall over. its way scarier than i thought it would be though.. but i guess its just something to get used to.

  • when i try to drop my clutch on my cr125 the rear tire just pins

  • @TheTraxxasrustler100 looks like you need a new tire my friend

  • i cant seem to lift it up with the clutch when i pop it. it just seems to spin but when i give it gas it lifts up, and it happens so fast its hard to find the balance point and its sketchy. im also having trouble comfortably resting my foot over the break, it feals wierd and messes up my body positioning if that makes sense. any tips?

  • what gear should i be in for a 2008 crf150rb

  • thanks for the video. Like the stress on progressive work toward the final goal

  • "My name is Ken Roche and I'm here today to show you how to ride a willy"

  • @aussieracer41 no it isnt.

  • hey man its so hard to use the back break never used it once not getting far tho :S could u give me sum points how to use the back brake ect cheers man!! keep up ur proo

  • Imagine you're going along in first. Os it easier just to pull the clutch in and pop it (stayin in first) or pull the clutch in, go into 2nd (clutch still in) and then pop it into 2nd?

  • @OSCAR13431 What are you riding? if it's an enduro or mx bike, it should lift easy as in first second and maybe even third, if a trail bike (XR200 or something alike) go in second and use the clutch :), don't be afraid to rev your bike

  • @ueidosan I have a klx110 now so its a semiauto haha.

  • @OSCAR13431 haha, second gear just give it gas and pull back, if second doesn't work try in first, but don't pull too hard in first

  • I prefer doing wheelies on a Mountain Bike!

  • i got good control of the balance point but my bike just falls to the left, i try shifting my wieght, any suggestion?

  • @dariocrr2trider try holding the front brake

  • You need to learn how to say "th" hahah frottle control haha

  • you said the more aggressively you let out the clutch the faster the tire will pop up but my bike only does wheelies if i slowly let out the clutch

  • Is it even possible to wheelie a ttr 230. Is so fricken heavy.

  • @ThunderChunky1303 yeah man :) just give it heaps, i learnt to on a AG200 (unsuccesfully) but i was alright on the ttr :)

  • @ueidosan Ya, I just recently got it. I just have to learn to keep it up in first.

  • Like this thanks it has help me I am new 2 the sport but love 2 ride

  • should the rear suspension be soft or hard or in the middle?????

  • What is you're motocross

  • U dont gotta pop the clutch just to get the front wheel up. I can get the front wheel up just fine on my TTR125 without popping the clutch.

  • can this work on a kawi 87 trail bike? just wondering, not game enough to wheelie a tank yet.

  • practice doesnt make perfect! you cant be perfect at anything! practice makes better

  • i thought only black people can do this

  • -nice "class" ... thanks for it... cool stuff

  • Can you do long wheelies with one gear like 2nd or 3rd gears or do you have to switch gears to do long wheelies? And if you can, how and what are the main things you have to remember? Would be really nice help if you answer =). I have ktm exc 125 and i'm not too good at them.

  • @ktmhazaa Its even harder to change gears while on the back wheel.

  • 5th gear is what I use lol

  • Hi, i was wondering (anyone is welcome to answer this) if wheeling you need to be a certain weight ive done 1 really really trying standing up but i canr seem to get them sitting down! I weigh 115 pounds im 5'4 14 and i ride a ktm 250 xcf. Sombody please reply!

  • what gear should I start out in when I do a wheelie?

  • @chandlerm150150 dirtbikes - 1st or 2nd gear and streetbikes 3rd or 4th..thats what i used to get the feel of them..you will learn the revs your bike needs pretty quickly

  • @chandlerm150150 i do 4rth

  • i can wheelie real good on my yz450f but having brake control is to hard for me can u help please

  • 3 people flipped over when they wheelied!

  • what will happen if i ride my dirtbike and tap the clutch?

  • Comment removed

  • what is a good gear to wheelie in?

  • what happends if your riding your dirtbike and you tap your clutch?

  • I got my bike last year and I watched this and about a week I got a good wheelie now I can ride one about 50 yards

  • can u do this on a crf230f

    or is it really hard

  • wow you are amazing, you are my idol

  • Comment removed

  • So basicly whe ni lean too far backwards and wheelie to high i should step on the rear brake firmly to bring the nose down??

  • helpful video man thanks

  • i'll try to make a vid with my gopro of wheelies on my 125 then on my 250f. should be interesting because im only 5ft 3in.

  • @team404 thanks man

  • i ride a 125 2 stroke suzuki and i had them down pretty good after 3 and a half hours, then i dumped it over backwards in 5th gear!! ow..

  • Its a lot harder to do slow wheelies on a 2 stroke becuase the power band is kicks in at a higher rpm than on a 4 stroke where you have that instant power as soon as you get on the throttle. I can ride a wheelie forever on my kawi 110 but cant do a wheelie for more than 20ft on my 125.

  • @AtDeathsDoor98

Try fanning the clutch - on a 125 I would give it plenty of revs, fan the clutch and control the wheelie mainly with body positioning and the rear brake.

  • @team404 what about a CR250?, i find that by the time you get traction and the front kicks up its got so much loft momentum you have to jab the brakes or youll end on your arse

  • @AtDeathsDoor98 that is why you always use clutch to lift the front wheel and shift up before the powerband kicks in...

  • i have 2010 110l and u helped me alot. thanks!!

  • pff with a 250R is easy try it with a 150f

  • @Chagoredbull try it on a 125 2 stroke!

  • can u do this with a sunl pit bike? * it has no clutch *

  • I practiced for probably 2 whole days before I could be really good at doing wheelies on my quad. Now I can wheelie it everywhere

I just bought an '06 CRF 450 and am practicing wheelies. I hope that with these tips I can become just as good on the bike.

Love The Prodigy, by the way! Made a great video even better!

  • great video man

  • i ride a honda 2002 is it still possible?

  • I am a new rider and my parents bought me a 120cc single stroke honda to learn. I now know how to ride pretty well so my parents bought me 250cc electic start bike. I now race my dad and cousins who have been riding alot longer than I have. I was wondering 1. if a wheelie is possible on either one of these bikes? and 2. would this be a good time in my riding career to start to learn tricks?

  • good video thx mate

  • can you tap the rear break without pulling the clutch?

  • great tips thx!

  • Can I do this with a 4 stroke?

  • But this is the only tut ive ever seen and its amazing!

  • hmm disagree, i have a kawasaki motocross KX85 and without a clutch, just pulling and throttling, i overwheelie. and almost fall over, alot of power for its size

  • @icebocZ

Thats why you need to practice using the rear brake.

  • @icebocZ yah cuz its pretty much a weed wacker engine lmfao

  • i've been trying to wheelie on my yamaha wr250r, if you could answer is it possible to do the whellie with it?

  • @davidbenedik1

sure is mate. Practice is key

  • @team404 practice is key i was trying to do it on my ktm 250 2 stroke and i was doing it but i couldnt hold them long enough maybe more practice for me

  • @davidbenedik1 I have the same bike and you can certainly wheelie with it. Granted I am not very good at it but I personally find it easier to do in 2nd gear. Since the rear tire doesn't have huge lugs, in dirt you have to give it quite a bit of throttle.

  • Would this guide work for a 150F 2 stroke? I'm sorry if it's a dumb question, I really don't know much about it.

Good guide also, and that person doing wheelies, wow he's verrrry good.

  • would this work on a old 1973 xl175 honda?

  • @xXmotocrosshugoXx i have a 85 as well dont listen to him get it just before powerband in 2nd dont use the clutch and then rip the throttle open and lean back if you go to far back then tap the back brake and shut the throttle off and lean fowards. when your up you need to learn thottle control on your own

  • i have that same gear set haha

  • hey im 13 i ride a honda xr 250 do u think i would struggle to do this ??

  • awesome tutorial dude..........

  • easy on 4 stroke

  • im 5'2 never ridin a dirtbike what should i get any tips from anyone??

  • bitching bike bro

  • Just to let ya know ktm is the best cr,yz,rm suck

  • @Ktmlover1000 Congratulations..you're "that guy."

  • thnaks a lot man cant wait to go practicing it

  • yee mate, today were here to learn how to do a willie, its more of a patty trick, but can be a big baynifut....

  • 3 people have broke a leg

  • This video is BY FAR the most helpful I have seen yet! This is the only tutorial that covers every aspect in depth well enough for me to feel comfortable trying wheelies, so major kudos to team404!

  • That dude had DAMN GOOD 12 o clocks

  • can someone please tell me why its more easier to do on a 4 stroke than a 2 stroke

  • @swiftyboy001 4 Strokes Got More Torque And Get The Front Up Easier

  • Thank you! this really helped! I'm a little scared coz i don't want the bike to fall on top of me but I'll man up :D THANK YOU! xxx

  • it was really interesting! i lent a lot from this ,thank you!

  • Heyyyyyy please please please reply :'( no one else will...........I have a debi Senda 125 Baja (4 stroke) its a little on the heavu side, i have some vids up on my channel if you get a few mins check them out please, I give it high revs whilst in 1st gear, sit back on the seat, let the clutch out slow untill it bites then give it more gas the let the clutch out fully and all it does it jolts violantly forword :'( ??????? what am i doing wrong, ps i'm covering the back break :D safe riding all.

  • hey ,do you hold the clutch in when you brake ?

  • cheers bud i'll try this out tomorrow good vid

  • wat bike are u riding

  • @mjr2036 2009 yz250f

  • using the rear brake and slamming the front down whilst still learning will that stuff my front forks?

  • would this be similar on a sportbike?

  • great vid gonna try tomorow ha

  • i have a an exc250 09 so not exactly low power :P but i notice a few askin about low powered bikes. yes it will work, but maybe a bit more effort is required. im still findin balance point with slow wheelies so im no expert. but as your coming into the wheelie pull the front brakes and dip the front of the bike to preload ur springs, make it a bit easier to loft. may take a few taps of the front brake in a row to get it right but slow and steady. and look skyward. seems scary. but works.

  • so then it will work on a suzuki DRZ 125l its a trail bike

  • thanks mate, found it very helpful...

  • Nice clip.. could you clarify the clutch work though? Do you actually "pop" the clutch? Wouldn't it be smoother and easier on the bike if I just use throttle only... or is too much power required? I'm just thinking that I would be destroying clutches too quickly and finding it difficult to get the rev range right before "popping" it if I rely on the clutch to get the lift??

  • @MaximusNoobius dirt bike clutches are made 4 this kind of abuse lol.

  • i have a crf150f is it powerful enough?

  • how do you wheelie on a low power bike?

  • could you switch gears while in the middle of a wheelie??

  • what gear do you sugest? is that a 250 or 450?

  • @2009crf230

    That there is a 250F,

although, with a little more aggresive clutch release and a few more revs, you will pop the front wheel up on just about anything. The trick is to find the right amount for your bike.

  • when i get the bike up i faster press the rear brake.i was to scare that the bike will back flip.btw can i use this matter on 2 stroke?

  • @xiaozhubest this technique is general across all bikes, on a twostoke though, you might find you need to fan the clucth a little to keep it in the band when popping the front wheel up

  • can this work on orion pit bikes?

  • @JordanPlaysPC

    sure can mate

  • @team404 I also like how your youtube name is tea 404 and there is #404 in the bike, custom made?

  • @team404 Hey man im riding a ttr 125 i can only wheelie when i first start and after that it after i let it down i cant get it back it up

  • @JordanPlaysPC i have an orion and it does work awsome on them

  • @JordanPlaysPC please burn the fucking thing immediately!

  • i got a HONDA 100 and i poped it while riddin thanx for ur help

    :)

  • whitc gear do you think is the best to use when i have a Honda CR85?

  • @Eijah97 ive got a rm85 and i pop it up in second gear

  • The best tutorial for wheelies on youtube. It really helped. Thanks

  • thanks this really helped

  • That's a sick fuckin' bike. This was very helpful as well.

  • i give a little gas den hold the clutch and release to pop it up

  • What bike you running here? Sounds like a 450 -4 ? Black and red must be a Honda? Mine is a 82 yamaha 465 two stroke, and i've been a bit scared to try it, because that thing has a lot of snap and will go over easy. I did it in second on accident with no clutch popping once...

  • you shuld use ur clutch wen ur ridn a fast wheelie like u were at abt 2 minits in

  • I Ride a two stroke! is this still possible?

  • @ThePencilShredder

    of course mate

  • @ThePencilShredder You are the dumbest person ever u should not hav a dirtbike in ur posession if u ask questions like that!!!

  • not trying to sound like a dick... but it's easy shit on fourstrokes- more challenge on two strokes.

  • @KawasakiDirtbiker

    I have to agree mate,

more fun on two strokes though.

  • @team404 n now! wat da fuck is an 'stroke'?? bt hey i can ride da bike very well... n btw, sorry 4 da question which may even sound like a joke 2 u.

  • @sureshtmg 2 stroke means the spark plug ignites the fuel in the combustion chamber every time. 4 stroke it ignites every OTHER time. 2 stroke is less fuel efficient then 4 stroke but i ride 2 stroke and Ive noticed it gets a hell of a lot more power the 4 stroke bikes.

  • @KawasakiDirtbiker i find it easier on 2 stroke. i got an exc250 and its seems a lot easier to control power. general preference haha

  • @KawasakiDirtbiker dude i can't competitively ride a 2 stroke anymore becos 4 strokes have made me so lazy, they make everything easier!!!!

  • @KawasakiDirtbiker why is that

  • @KawasakiDirtbiker if u learn the rear brake, it doesnt matter... any power is coltrolled by the brake

  • @KawasakiDirtbiker i agree i been on two stroke since i could walk there a pain in the ass to control (slow wheelie its either no power or balls to the wall gotta trust your back brake and stay in the balance point which will feel strait up that feeling when you think you gone to far is about where you wanna be lol you see someone riding a slow control wheelie on a two stroke they know whats up

  • @KawasakiDirtbiker why easy on 4 stroke and hard on 2 stroke? just curios :) i have a yamaha DT175ccm 2 stroke but dont know how to pull a good wheelie

  • Good info video thanks

  • what type of bike is that

  • thanks man i can get my front end up confortably now best tutorial on youtube thank you =)

  • how do you keep the clutch in and still be going? do you start going then release the throtle and then pull in the clutch as your rolling and then rev and release the clutch? will it help to compress my forks before i try to wheelie

  • @oMathiaso

    Hey mate.

Yes, thats exactly right mate. Start off slow, not much faster then walking pace, then pull in the clucth, and mixed with some revs, releasing the clutch should get your font wheel airborne. You want to practice this slow at first, working up the height slowly, also, you can do wheelies by first compressing the forks, but its better practice and a better habit not to.

  • @team404 thank you im going to get some gas and try it nice tutorial by the way

  • @oMathiaso

  • i guess ur austrailian and in austrailia

  • Performance/Race four strokes sound so cool, its like a sexy grindy noise

  • hey, i ride a suzuki rm85 and im thinking of getting a bigger bike, im 5'7" and 8.25 stone, would you recomend getting a 250cc or a 450cc

    plz reply

    thx
