  • Christmas 1989. I had FOUR full-price driving games on my Xmas list: Power Drift, Chase HQ, Turbo Out Run and Hard Drivin'. I was SO excited leading up to Christmas, then on Christmas day I go all 4! Thanks, Mum! :) Turbo Out Run turned out to be complete crap. Hard Drivin' seemed dull compared to the awesome realism of the arcade machine. Power Drift was playable, and I was so in love with the arcade I was thrilled just to ow my own version. But of course, Chase HQ was the hands-down winner!

  • What came first out of this ans the Speccy version of Chase HQ? as they look remarkably similar in their look. Considering Chase HQ is probably the greatest ever speccy port it would seem like a wise idea.

  • One of my personal favourites. I loved this game in the arcades and couldn't wait to buy it for the Speccy. Ultimately I wasn't disappointed.

  • Great game from Activision. It makes a change since they managed to fuck up so many other big licences such as Predator.

  • Oh jesus that was a dreadful game, I loved the movie as a kid, I loved Schwarzenegger and when I saw it I just had to buy it. Turned out to be a total pile of shit. Clearly having not learned my lesson I later bought Red Heat, also staring Schwarzenegger and that too was shit! Go figure! T2 wasn't bad though.

  • The Predator movie is great and especially for the time it came out. Just so different. I got the game as a pirate and was very disappointed in it. There is no gameplay whatsoever, and it's full of bugs. Red Heat is just adding fuel to the fire. Bloody awful game! T2 the movie is good, not so keen on the speccy game though. It's okay, but I don't find the game that addictive.

  • yeah! what a game! I spent hours playing. I remember some parts of the game which you was like walking to heaven. I enjoyed this game.

    Thanks for uploaning this video.

  • I love the music of the C64 and Spectrum ZX version, Dave Lowe (aka Uncle Art) is a sound magician :)

Can somebody please send me a record of the full tune of this version please? thank you :)

  • still find it funny converting games like after burner out run street fighter and powerdrift onto the zx spectrum lol

  • street fighter was extremely difficult and we had to load the "levels" on tape and if we lost loading back again the first opponent. I love power drift because of the roads that were so surreal just like a cool dream trip :)

  • I cant remember what magazine this came on as a demo, but I bloody loved it. Was this a full price game? I seem to remember my parents saying no coz it was a tenner??

  • Demo was on Your Sinclair tape. It would have cost your parents £9.99 back then.

  • Oh those prices!!! What a ripoff! I used to buy Crash mag for 1000 escudos (portugal) wich was a lot of money. Back then I dreamed about having an atari or later the sega master system wich were for TONS of money as well.

Now I have a PC :) - ZX games, all SEGAs, MAME etc for free :)

Ah there were also the Macintosh wich costed 2500€ that corresponds today to 5000€ or more - one could get a car for the same money.

    Cheers

  • :) Flithy rich is me (more flithy than rich nowadays though) What's happened to EvilDeadCeller? has he gone down with his ciderboat again?

  • He resurfaced briefly a few days ago. I suppose he's busy working or he's got pc problems or he's watching the whole series of Buck Rogers or he's won the lottery or he's really Lord Fawlty in disguise! You've been rumbled my good fellow. You're a cad and a scoundrel!

  • Big posh Atari ST :) Yep! funny enough of all the compuker/console emulators i,ve got on this IBM T21 Laptop (how's that for posh!) the Speccy Emu* is the one i play the most

    *Rod Hull not included.

  • Wow! IBM Laptop is like the Ferrari of all computers, you very rich person! Talking of Emu, what ever happened to him? You don't see him on tv anymore.

  • Great game :) never played the Speccy version but had it on my Atari ST.

  • It is a good game, which makes a change, considering the other driving games I've put up. You and your big posh Atari 512K. Did I tell you about the time I went to college...must put the cat out!
