From March 1918(U.S soldier at front lines) to November 1918(German surrender), over 9 months, U.S forces Suffered 198,059 wounded and 120,144 dead, that means 22,000 wounded and 13,400 killed per month. Compare with the 45 months of american involvement in ww2 and the 416,837 dead and 683,846 wounded. We have a 9,263 killed and 15.196 wounded by month!!!

@stud20084977 The point is Luftwaffe had the RAF tea tolling on the brink. Hitler put ridiculous amounts of resources into U-Boats in France. Invading the U.S.S.R resulted in a loss of over 1,000 aircraft. Yet they still lost almost 1,000 aircraft to the Allies from Africa all the way until D-Day and through out the invasion. The Luftwaffe was able to have almost 500 more aircraft and manage to sortie them during the British, while they fought the soviets and British in Africa.

And also don't forget about our handling of the battle of Passchendaele/Third battle of Ypres. Or the taking of Hill 70 (I think) where Canadians took the hill around 5:00 in the evening and then held off 21 German counterattacks on the hill. Or at Vimy where we secured Hill 145 and took the infamous hill nicknamed "The Pimple" :D

Britain, France, Russia were all screwed and would have certainly lost to Germany if they hadn't had those allies.
But Amerian troops were lucky in the sense they were at least commanded by their own military.
Commonwealth troops were however, commanded by the incompetent senior british military leaders for most of WWI and thousands of them were needlessly wasted by that useless bastard Douglas Haig.

Great Gandfather and my Great, Great Uncle. My Grandfather was lucky enough to be spared the trenches and serve as an engineer with the light horse in the Middle East. The claim that "American officers didn't think America would need to send troops to France" is absurd. Pershing certainly had no such thoughts, since he volunteered to lead the AEF.

@UchihaGamer111 The RAF dropped more bombs on all targets versus Germany than the USAAF did and there were always more British aircraft in Europe than US. 30 % of the personal in the RAF were RCAF airmen and RCAF squadrons were involved in all theaters of war as well from the very start.

@stud20084977 The point is Luftwaffe had the RAF tea tolling on the brink. Hitler put ridiculous amounts of resources into U-Boats in France. Invading the U.S.S.R resulted in a loss of over 1,000 aircraft. Yet they still lost almost 1,000 aircraft to the Allies from Africa all the way until D-Day and through out the invasion. The Luftwaffe was able to have almost 500 more aircraft and manage to sortie them during the British, while they fought the soviets and British in Africa.

@UchihaGamer111 .... so it was the entire Luftwaffe that was available in the attempt to crush the RAF, but due to several factors, bad strategic planning (unclear objectivies), inferior Aircrafttypes (mainly manoueverability and very limited fuel tank) and the Radar system that deprived the Germans of ANY element of surprise, the RAF were still able to hang on and eventually gain the air superiority OVER BRITAIN.

If the selfish Japanese had actually helped Germany, WW2 could have wen't vastly different.

When the French needed men, we sent the 369th Infantry. The 369th was the first US Army unit on the front lines. They distinguished themselves with their heroism and the ferocity of their fighting. They were one of the most highly decorated regiment in the war. The Germans were terrified of the the 369th and gave them the name "Harlem Hellfighters'.

@burnz0021 We held during the second battle of Ypres in April 1915 ;) Against chorline gas and outnumbered by the Germans we held it while the French troops retreated. And also don't forget about our handling of the battle of Passchendaele/Third battle of Ypres. Or the taking of Hill 70 (I think) where Canadians took the hill around 5:00 in the evening and then held off 21 German counterattacks on the hill. Or at Vimy where we secured Hill 145 and took the infamous hill nicknamed "The Pimple" :D

So, the decision of a US military involvement was all based on a very efficient deceiving campaign from the UK and France. Interesting perspective! And, although History can't be made with "if", it might be valuable to mention that, if Wilson had waited till the end of this bloody april (Not to mention the October/november Russian revolution+Caporetto disaster), the USA might have stayed out of the war and Germany might have had a much more decisive breakthrough in its 1918 spring offensive.

It was Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and Americans that won the first World War.
Britain, France, Russia were all screwed and would have certainly lost to Germany if they hadn't had those allies.
But Amerian troops were lucky in the sense they were at least commanded by their own military.
Commonwealth troops were however, commanded by the incompetent senior british military leaders for most of WWI and thousands of them were needlessly wasted by that useless bastard Douglas Haig.
