I believe Theo Bos and his story. Track racing is a pretty dirty in general, and I have rarely seen Bos do anything even agressive in general. He looked like he was just trying to either let him know he was right there, or catch his balance off of him. Who really knows what goes on out there though. Either way I am still a Theo Bos fan.

Bos didnt do it on purpose. he lost control over his bike and was looking to grab something to get control back. Unfortunatly it was the yellow jersey. Ofcourse he should get a punishment but i think 1 month is good enough for both sides to live with.

I wrote to Daryl. He's now back on the bike and doing very light training.. But he fully intends to come back, and he hasn't forgot what Bos did to him.
I raced bikes over a period of 20+ years. I haven't the slightest doubt that Bos's actions here are not intentional. I've had plenty of people ride extremely aggressively (as have I) in sprint finishes and NOBODY would intentionally pull a rider into themselves and into the barriers. Clearly, Bos was falling and like anyone who is falling, reached out and grabbed whatever he could to stop it. That the UCI would sanction Bos for this is absolutely ridiculous. It was a sprint accident.
Even if it was unintentional, Theo Bos should have known better than to bring someone down with him. I however, think it was intentional. Just look, he is grabbing his jersey before he ever comes too close to the barriers. Very unsportsmanlike. Also, he seems to push Impey out in front of him. If he was truly losing his balance, he would pull impey onto or at least right next to himself. I cannot believe this...

QUIT saying that they are going 40mph. THat is the basis of defending Theo Bos. They are going so fast, he would not risk himself at that speed. Duh, listen up people. They are maybe not even going 30mph. Theo is used to going that fast in a VELODROME. This could easily be premeditated and it WAS.
it is clearly visible that theo is allready crashing into the fence before Impey starts falling. theo is desperately holding on to him as he doesnt want to crash into the fence head first at this high speed. then apparantly something goes wrong with their bikes and they both crash down.
Very true. I was hit by a passing truck after a passing car drove by way too close many years ago while I was in my bike. My first reaction was the same as Theo did. You desperately try to grab something on the other side to keep your balance.
Theo hit the foot of a fence which caused the bottom of his bike to go to the right and as a result of that (action-reaction) all his energy went in opposite direction.

Bos gets freaked a little by being too close to the barriers going 40mph... so then he might have got psyched... so he grabs impey to avoid going into the barriers from getting boxed in... then impey sees the guy in front of the two on left pulling ahead forward... so impey attempts to follow with Bo's hand still holding the jersey in attempt to avoid falling left into barriers (which is what happened anyways).
so then with impey pulling ahead forward a little bit to hold the line with the guy in front of both of them on left... this is what made bos's arm extend forward a little bit and appear it to be a push/drag down. There is absolutely no motive otherwise

When you are on a bike, a simple touch can bring you down, now imagine someone pulling your jersey on purspose, it can certainly cause that.
Contact happens in cycling all the time, but if you want to keep someone away when he is coming too close from you, you just gently push his hip, and the other cyclist will know he has to give you more room. If he doesn´t, you brake a little and let him pass. You just do not grab his jersey and pull into your side.

As far as someone is to blame it is Impey as much as Bos. Bos was just running faster than Impey and was confronted in a second with a situation he couldn't escape from. Take a good look at the winding road and blame the careless organization the most, I'd say.
This was a clear act of desperation. and with the weight of Impey already moving to the left to compensate the pushing of Bos to the right he now finds himself racing towards the fence and it looks like Bos is helping him in what looks like a very vicious act, instead Bos slows down and Daryl gets caught into his front wheel because of the shifting weight and the desperate pulling of Theo, I guess he really must have been panicking.
I hear nobody asking: Why were they riding that close to the fences? enough space on the other side. But IMO they were both wrong. Bos shouldn't have touched another rider and Impey could have known something was wrong and could've been more helpful, instead was not even thinking about moving to the right for a person like Theo Bos. this forced Bos to grab a hold of something (or someone) in order for him not to crash into the fence because his speed was to high to do something else about it...

They could easily be going 35-40 mph. It is near the very end of the stage where sprinters often hit over 40 mph.

Conclusion

Put it in big screen and watch it frame by frame and you see, he didn`t pull him down.
The front wheel of Impey jammed and he fell to the left.
It looks like he pulled him down, because his hand was at the shoulder off Impey.
So, stop bashing him he didn`t deserve it.

Theo Bos is showing no remorse. After the race "he said he had good positioning and would have won" during the same breathe when he said he doesnt know why people are upset with him. Then today he says "So I am a disgrace to the profession" He shows no remorse. He is like Ivan Drago saying "If he dies, he dies" . I am going to simply stick my frame pump in his front spoke and that will be that. Its very simple, Theo Bos, this aint boxing you can be taken out in one foul swoop.

I disagree. If he was trying to push him, he wouldn't have grabbed his jersey hard enough to pull him down. I'm not saying it was deliberate, but I think Bos panicked and caused both of them to crash.

And even if Impy was getting closer to Theo, that is no reason to pull Impy into the rail. One wrong does not justify another.
Whoever said that "nobody can be so strong to turn somebody 180 degrees in a tenth of a second" has no idea of what they're talking about, and certainly is not a cyclist. When you are on a bike, a simple touch can bring you down, now imagine someone pulling your jersey on purspose, it can certainly cause that.

Contact happens in cycling all the time, but if you want to keep someone away when he is coming too close from you, you just gently push his hip, and the other cyclist will know he has to give you more room. If he doesn´t, you brake a little and let him pass. You just do not grab his jersey and pull into your side.

The yellow shirt is just doing is race without any change of direction and all the dynamics of the accident are caused by Bos pulling the yelllow shirt. Again, the question is if there is premeditsated ill intend, aanswer, who would risk his own limbs and health by pulling someone in front of your wheels so you simply will crash to the ground yourself, deliberately. Bos deserves a 2 to 3 year ban!
Impey might have corned him a little, almost pushing him into the fence but the way he reacted is absolutely disgusting! I'm quite certain he was pissed at Impey and therefore pulled him off his bike ... he should have know it's way to dangerous to try and pass everyone so close to the side in a sprint.
And McEwen, he should keep his mouth shut! The guy has also caused a few sprintaccidents! And he always blames it on some other guy!

Watch from 0:10 to 0:12.
Did he do it maliciously? Did he do it because he was falling? It's very VERY obvious it was his fault Impy wrecked.
There's ABSOLUTELY no doubt he pulled Impy into the rail.
You have doubt? Go watch 0:10 - 0:12 over until it's gone. Hint: focus on the bottom of the picture, about 1/3 of the way in.

I'm pretty sure that this was not deliberate from Bos, for the following reasons:
1. You can't see the jersey stretch, only when Bos hand is going from the back to the shoulder.
2. When pulling was the reason, Impey's bike would fall to the right, this didn't happen
3. Impey started to rotate, he was still on his bike when the bike was rotated 90 degrees!
I think, Bos slided against the barriers, his bike slided to the right against the backwheel of Impey, therefore Impey started to rotate.

Freeze the film at 0 and at 10 seconds.
At 0 sec. Impey is locked up, wants to go left. A collision with the rider left (not Bos) can hardly be avoided. At 10 sec. Impey is still locked up, wants to join the faster riders on the left.
And then,freeze at 10 sec.: look what Bos sees in front of him! He realizes that a collision cannot be avoided and panicks. Impey is to blame for wanting to leave his track, Bos is to blame for panicking and last but not least, the organization.

As far as someone is to blame it is Impey as much as Bos. Bos was just running faster than Impey and was confronted in a second with a situation he couldn't escape from. Take a good look at the winding road and blame the careless organization the most, I'd say.

This was a clear act of desperation. and with the weight of Impey already moving to the left to compensate the pushing of Bos to the right he now finds himself racing towards the fence and it looks like Bos is helping him in what looks like a very vicious act, instead Bos slows down and Daryl gets caught into his front wheel because of the shifting weight and the desperate pulling of Theo, I guess he really must have been panicking.

I hear nobody asking: Why were they riding that close to the fences? enough space on the other side. But IMO they were both wrong. Bos shouldn't have touched another rider and Impey could have known something was wrong and could've been more helpful, instead was not even thinking about moving to the right for a person like Theo Bos. this forced Bos to grab a hold of something (or someone) in order for him not to crash into the fence because his speed was to high to do something else about it...

Theo Bos is known as one of the fairest riders on track, and don't forget he's a multiple world champion and olympic medallist. He had nothing to gain by deliberately pulling down an opponent. Lance Armstrong should know the damage of false accusations...

Look better people. Impey is creating a block for Bos. He's going to the left while Bos already was next to him. Bos was faster. Impey was pushing Bos to the fences. I think Bos held him on purpose. But who would not if someone drove you to a line of fences with 50 mph?
