aluminum is a poor choice of notebook material. Hell even plastic is more durable. and plastic cracks. no dents. the best laptop material by FAR, is carbon fiber plastic composites. GE should develop a way to mass produce composite notebooks. they use composites in their jet engine fan blades.
Apple in my opinion the best computer/ notebook maker company in the world hands down Jonathan Ive has some impressive designs specially the new line up of MacBook Pros they're awesome
huh.... well right on. being a machinist, i wonder why this wasnt done like 20yrs ago. but hey about time! right on, and just a tid bit, with recycling, injection molding recycles all its plastic, back into the molding process again, and again.
I'm just surprised none of the Americans in the audience set fire to a huge wooden crucifix, and fired shotguns in the air, every time Jonny Ive said 'aluminium'.
In their defence on this particular subject, according to 'The Pedant's Revolt' (Barnham 2005) :
"In 1808, when English chemist Sir Humphrey Davy first isolated this element, he chose to call it 'alumium', because of its association with the sulphate 'alum', 'but as 'The Good Word Guide' reveals, four years later he had a change of heart, and gave it the name 'aluminum'. Though 'aluminum' was readily adopted in the United States, the use of the word in Britain was largely opposed" (p.116)
nah i think its kinda funny lol. the true travesty is when americans say "that guy has na ENGLISH accent". thats like saying a chinese man has a chinese accent when hes speaking mandarin or cantonese
and they just discovered this magnificent way of making a computer!!?? this method has been around for a long time, nothing amazing here. now that apple is the only one using it is a different story

You pronounce it as it was changed, when aluminum was first discovered it did not have a "I" at the end, so therefore americans pronounce it the way its supposed to sound, without the "I" at the end. It was changed to the way you say it in 1812 for the shear fact that it sounds better (in consistancy with the other elements). So learn your history before you talk shit.
If you look at what you're actually paying for: build quality, software compatibility, lower risk of needing expensive technical support in the future + the newest technologies available in consumer/average user level notebooks; you see that the price justifies itself... Go out and buy a PC and you get something with lower build quality, higher probability of running into requiring expensive repairs in the future, and a higher chance of software incompatibility.
don't want to start a Mac vs Pc fight here but some of the things you are saying are completely wrong. Newest technology available, i dont see any gtx280s or 4870x2s in macs. Quality: Macs are very high quality but if you spend as much as you spend on a mac you'll get the same quality. Expensive repairs? I have never paid for any repairs for my PC. Software incompatibility: You're joking me right?
Macs are definitely great high quality products but doesn't mean they're better in every way
I said they have newer technologies in place when compared with other consumer notebooks. Key word, CONSUMER. When would you find a gtx280 in an average user notebook?
If you buy a decked out pc for the same price as a lower end macintosh, you're likely to sacrifice build quality; cheaper parts...etc. It's pretty clear that a larger % of Windows PC users have had problems with their computers in the past when compared with Mac users. oftware/hardware all coming from one source,
lol, you have no idea what you're talking about. a 9400m on a low-end, average user level notebook with the kind of build quality and user friendliness of the new macbook is stunning. The new MacBooks aren't overpriced. They're not top of the line gaming computers, however.
the new macbooks are cheaper compared to previous prices my imac 24in is $2,199 you can get one of the new macbooks for like $1,560 i think and it would be much powerful than the imac. because the most expensive imac has an 8800gt and the new macbook has an 9400gt so i'll think the new macbooks would really boost up in sales
Any intel mac with BOOTCAMP can run windows. You can play PC games on a mac through bootcamp (NATIVE speed) none of this emulataor crap. Plus all windows software. Bootcamp is amazing.
