This scene is arguably one of the "top 5" best acted scenes in all 6 seasons of the show.
She scared me the first time I saw this when she smacks the glass out of his hand. I wasn't expecting that from such a mild mannered doctor.... I don't think Ben was expecting that from her either lol.
I just wish Ben would have put his arms around Juliet, it would have been nice to see Ben actually have some sort of physical contact. He had the perfect opportunity! I LOVE Michael Emerson, he is a brilliant acto!
anyone who says elizabeth mitchell is a sucky actress needs to watch this NOW! she is fantastic in lost. don't judge her from v! the writing doesn't have enough depth for her to perform from, gah! I love lost and after tonight its allllll overrrr :'(
This scene is so good. Ben comes across as so genuine. I love how he just awkwardly stands there while she's crying, how terrified he looks when she knocks the glass from him. And Juliet... amazing performance as well. You rarely see her so unsettled, she typically has a more cool, indifferent attitude. Amazing scene from the pair of them. Great work.
Right there, when Julie told Ben he had cancer he had to have known the truth: That the "Island" was just about through with his tenure as leader of the "others". The other notion that must have been running through his insecure, paranoid brain was that the "815" survivors could well potentially supplant Ben's group as they destroyed the Dharma-ites!!!
i was watchin this video while my cousin had the santa clause 2 on tv, and when i looked up, elizabeth mitchell was talking to tim allen....wow had no idea she was in that movie.
I have a whole new prespective on this since we learned Ben never met Jacob...he was lying through his teeth, but Rachel was cured. He didn't understand anymore then she did...he was faking his "promise" so he'd remain superior.
I LOVE the way his head snaps up when he says "I did not lie to you" at 1:23 . There's something great about the way he says it, because it's one of the rare occasions when he's defending something he's said that was actually truthful. It kinda has a "No, this time I REALLY AM" feeling to it, like he's more insistant because it's so rare. I just love it.
i comment too much on this video because it is so amazing. but i finally got it on my tv so i can watch as much as i want w/o waiting for the computer!!! *yay!!!*
This probably will never happen but I wish Ben and Juliet were together! Why the hell does Juliet like Sawyer!!If I had a choice between dating Sawyer or Ben I would want Ben!!!Ben rocks!!!
Well,I kinda didn't know for sure when I said that cause I wasn't right when I said it but I asked my mom lolz I forgot and she told me I'm 5'6 and I'm 12:PI think I stoped growing becaue I already had the you know what lolz....well anywayz I'll stop talking about that so anywayz bye bye:DBen is soooooo hot in this scence isn't he:D
yeah! this might sound pathetic but when i get sims 3 i'm going to try to make one look like ben and one like juliet and make them be bennet! lol *worried face*
I loved this episode! I was like you go Juliet! I really wanted Ben and Juliet to have a thing but they ever did. I want to know who Ben's little kid crush was, will they ever show it?
This scene takes on a whole NEW meaning knowing that Juliet saves his life as a child. Also bravo on being one of the most UNDERRATED actors in the biz Elizabeth.
One of my absolute favorite Lost moments. Juliet is so together and calm all the time. Here she's not and I LOVE that. (And I'm not even that fond of Juliet - However, Elizabeth is a great actress.)
I think this fertility thing is important and Ben knows that. Juliet is not suppose to leave. She has not completed her end of the deal. Ben did. Or shall I say Jacob?
My theory is that IF Ben could let her off the island he would but look in his eyes something tells me he knows this is impossible. Was she not suppose to leave just like the oceanic six were not
I think it's less complicated than that. In 'The Other Woman', we learn he's obsessed with her and says, "Your mine!" Add that to the fertility problem, he thinks he owns her and doesn't want to let her go.
Unfortunately not. She will have to submit a new episode from season 4 next year but I think it's rather questionable that she will get as good material to work with as she did in season 3. Even if she does get good material, I just don't see her getting nominated because of the stupid popularity vote. Popularity seems to be more important than talent when it comes to award shows and judging from the GG and SAG nominations, it looks like Lost is slowly falling of the radar.
Elizabeth and Michael deserved an Emmy for this scene alone. They are both amazing actors and the main reason why I really started to get into the show in season 3. I'm still pissed off at the Emmy commitee that they snubbed her.
@Hamburgo100 That's my case too. I think if it hadn't been for both Juliet and Ben, two of my favourite characters, I had stopped watching "Lost" instead of watching one of the best series ever until the end. Thankfully althouth both Elizabeth and Michael were going to be there for some episodes, they stayed a lot.
Thank God for those two great actors on Lost.Elizabeth Mitchell did a brilliant job in this scene. She displays surprise, anger and sadness in the same scene and all very intensively. This scene makes her act out many emotions in rapid succession and from a wide spectrum. She deserves an Emmy.
I always pick one scene from every season as the best. This is the best of season 3. Season 1 was when Boone was dying, season 2 was when everyone found out about Micheal.
I know, that is so awesome! If she doesn't get an Emmay, I'm going to hurt someone! ..Jk, but she's a great actor. I feel so bad for Juliet in this scene.
Elizabeth Mitchell is incredible.
