The rim shot line is not always the best. My general rule of thumb have I not driven at the location in the rain before, or do not have time to observe another race, is to start with the dry line, then open up about half a car-length at a time.
Some times the dry line is the fastest, sometimes it is the true 'rim shot'. All depends on surface, amount of rubber, corner type, etc.
