but for 50,000 you have a car, with cheap and reliable LS3 and 500 hp and 2400lbs will blow any super car into the weeds.Put a turbo on that LS3 and you have a reliable 600hp at low boost.
@hdidane00 Yes - but you'll have to budget carefully and do most everything yourself. It's possible to do it in the mid-late 40s if you budget VERY carefully. Start with a junker Vette and use its LS1. 350Hp is plenty in a GTM, but you can always tune it up later and get the power of a LS6 and beyond. Use as much as you can off the Vette - motor, wheels, brakes etc., and don't pay too much for it. Stray off that path and you'll easily spend more.... Good luck.
@Lukeschedel The Malan part is added by a shop which builds GTMs, and you get 'Malan' when you add 'Alan' to GTM - 'Alan' as in 'Alan Autosports'. The car is a Factory Five GTM, and "GTM" stands for whatever Factory Five say it stands for.
Nice bumblebee themed colors. And I agree with the Ferrari comments. It's definitely a car for the true gearhead, and also it's the fastest car you can build in your garage.
Thats not a Lotus, thats a Factory Five Racing GTM200. Its mid-engine'd RWD, has a corvette motor, a Porsche transaxle, and weighs around 2200lbs. Advertised 0-60 is something like 2.9 seconds. Car and driver mag tested one with 505hp, it did 0-60 in 2.8 seconds. A good friend of mine builds these for FFR customers who don't want to build the car themselves... And he took me for a ride in one with 585bhp. It was just UNREAL! You baby the throttle at anything less than 3rd gear and 65mph.
@redghost105 depends on how big the v10 is itself plus youd have to figure out what transaxle youd need and figure out an adapter plate all in all you could do it but it would be far more trouble then its worth frankly id stick with an LS engine the rev limit is much higher with a small block then it is with a v10 best bang would be LS7 with a transaxle from a porsche 911 GT3 that alone would have you beating farrari enzo's
more like the hard working man's ferrari. this car is for guys with the balls enough to make it, the majority of ferrari owners only have the car to compensate for lack of genitalia
@NehpetsK57 its one of my 10 year goals to have a GTM, and i WANT to build it myself just to say i did. but, that said, you can still buy these already built as well. they go all the time on corvette forums, factory five forums, and ebay.
I would love to have one. It looks amazing, it sounds great, it performs like a car 10 times its worth, it has GM Corvette parts and engine so it will be easy and cheap to service and extremely reliable, and I get the fun of building my own car.
I will get either this or an Ultima GTR800 one day. Hard decision. The GTR runs $70,000 and I hear a GTM can be $40,000. The GTM also looks better. They both use Corvette engines. The GTR is a lot faster and looks easier to build with a complete kit.
Geez, you people can be so unobservant. The Red car is the Lotus Exige. The Yellow on is the F5R GTM, a kit car or, rather, a DIY supercar.
GTMs can be outfitted with any engine you can fit into it, though it need modification to do so. They are made to except most current Corvette Engines so they will fit right in.
However, I might be willing to try a TT V6, just for something different.
theJudgeQ8 is right. it's a FFR GTM, a custom car from Facory Five Racing. it's shape is quite similar to a ford GT 40. it has a corvette engine under the hood.
The race electric cars are coming and they are way faster then this cars ..........

@TheOfficialKC
For track days, or track plus daily use? Daily use I'll take the GTM. For just the track I'll take the GTR.

Not poor man's Ferrari, a wise man's Ferrari.
A car that costs $40,000 and outruns $250,000 Ferraris.
Or as NehpetsK57 said, the hard working man's Ferrari.

GT-M stands for GT-Mulsanne.
As in the Mulsanne Straight from the original Le Mans circuit.
TheOfficialKC 2 years ago
@TheOfficialKC
I though that the "M" stood for "midship". I remember requesting one of thier promotional DVDs and hearing that during thier presentation of the GTM.
originaldriver 2 years ago
That could be true. I thought I read it was Mulsanne.
I looked it up and the only website i found that said anything said mid-engine. So I will say you are right.

Reguardless of the acronym, the car is outstanding.
GT-Mulsanne or otherwise, Id give my left nut to own one.
