Man compared to how healthy he looked in 2000, he was not looking good in 2007. I really hope that his decline in health/death weren't drug related. No matter what, Jim is one of my favorite artists. So much inspiration. Listening to him read is like having a good conversation with an interesting person.
I was wondering the same thing, in the cameo he made in the movie his voice sounded shaky. God only knows what he's been thru. I wonder where all his friends are now? I wonder if he's seen Leo since the movie? Him & Makr Wahlberg were awesome in it!
The movie was great. Leo's potrayal was so powerful I watched on DVD when it cam eout and never watched it again. I bought the DVD immediately after I bought and never watched it again. It was too real. The book was amazing and very scary and suprising he's still alive. He's actually very intelligent.
I pity anyone who doesn't know that, who's never seen him live, who is "amazed" that he's "very intelligent" - Where do you people come from? Jim Carroll's aesthetic genius is the Haley's Comet of our generation (not generous Secondlife Twitter Webkins Post-Millenial "we rite lk ths n wii lik it" brats!) Get back to your Second Life sandbox where there's no poetry to freak your minds...
is he shaking a bit? like , is that normal or the after effects of drugs? kind of like parkinsons, can't stand steady, i do apologize if there's nothing wrong with him. It may just be his thing...
i was thinking the same thing. im no doctor or nothing but do ya think that the drugs culd of damaged his nerves? can that happen? if anyone knows let me know.
Yes amazinloud, there are many drugs that can damage the nerves, like ALL of them. For instance I did far too many things that destroyed my central nervous system. I would shake and constantly be anxious, I found that heroin killed all anxiety and physical, mental, spiritual pain. Now I am in recovery and will always battle my terrible opiate addiction as well as other addictions. Suboxone, Klonipin and Lamictal (lamictal is used as a mood stabilizer for bipolar folks like myself) seem to help..

I never thought of it as an after effect of drugs, I personally think it is just his way. I like the way he moves when he talks :)

i love jim carroll. he is soo brilliant, and so rare. very few junkies come out clean and alive and give so much to the world.

He's one of my heroes. I am a bit taken aback by his apparently frail look. Maybe it's just this angle.

To me he has always had that "frail" look, but I think he looks fabulous :)
