listen to the developer cometary, and you will see, they had over 7 different ways for Alyx to come in harms way built and in game, they settled on the Hunter to harm her, and for a good reason, go listen to the commentary, you can find out why, and a lot of other cool stuff...

The Half-Life storyline is by far the best in FPS history.

And speaking of Halo. The gameplay is a lot better and more entertaining in the Half-Life games. In halo you just run around and shoot some alien scum in the face. And you do exactly that in ALL THREE GAMES. In the Half-Life 2 games (especially Ep2) you get to fight much more varied and unique battles.

And with the gravity gun (and a hell lot of other things) there are always endless possibilities, and Valve utilizes them to the max.

the error Can't Find materils/models/console/backgr­ound01.vfc means u missing texture to show the moving menu. U can try first to reinstall. It could be that the installer forgot to install some textures. U can send valve a email or look at steam support =)
