  • ive been staring at my navel for like a hour.

  • Music in its truest form is demanding, complex, incomprehensible, and inaccessible. Because most people will want to comprehend what they listen to, most music is going to be almost at the complete opposite of the spectrum: it's not going to be demanding at all, it's gonna be simple, understandable, and accessible.

Not saying that simple music is bad. Most of those kinds of songs have a good beat, catchy melody, something to shake your ass to, which in some cases is all people ask for.

  • @FinalBossPwner

Finally, some one who can dig far out music without being a complete hipster about it.

  • HOY HOY

  • This is the real definition of "Hardcore"

  • Better Than The Beatles

  • I find it difficult to masturbate in time with this.

  • @Thevillagepeople777 What makes you so special? Asshole.

  • THE LEAD GUITAR IS MISSING!!!!

  • Just got finished reading Drumbo's book about Don. I laughed, I cried, I got shivers, I had to listen to Trout Mask for the 100th time.

  • I GET IT, I FUCKING GET IT. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS

  • @fat8622 What was it that made you "get it" all of a sudden? Because I was like that too, I didn't understand Trout Mask Replica until over a year after I first heard it.

  • @MoralNihilism Well, I listened to it alot, probably over 100 times. I also started exploring more avant garde types of music (Tim Buckley, Pere Ube, the Residents) so it didn;t sound quite as alien

  • @fat8622 Cool, for me it was listening to it in a depressed mood that helped me understand it better. I think it's more about emotional expression than weirdness for the sake of it.

  • Like all of the Captain's music this is a song for outsiders, a song for social outcasts who don't get the human race, and who are disgusted equally by fat disgusting people and by the 'cool' people who laugh at them, who think of mainstream humans with all their social rules and hypocritical system of morality as totally alien . . . listening to the Captain, we know there's someone else who feels the same. 02:18 is a great catharsis, for someone who feels they were born into the wrong species.

  • @MoralNihilism

I don't agree. I think it's better to just not care about other people instead of loathing them; it makes more sense.

And that whole 'mainstream' garbage is just noise. It just goes to show that you pay attention to classes and other spunk. Personally, I think you're full of shit. But not that you care, right?

  • @MoralNihilism Shut up and enjoy the fucking music man.

  • @MoralNihilism Or, the Captain's music is for elitist music snobs who somehow think that because they listen to Trout Mask Replica, that they're some sort of avant-garde, progressive, non-conformist. By criticizing "cool, mainstream" people, you're trying to convince yourself that you're cool because you like the exact opposite of the "masses"...along with every other disgruntled outcast who wears band t-shirts that no one has heard of and hates the music on the radio.

  • @Nicokid87 Maybe that's what's going on subconsciously in my brain, who knows. But consciously I just like his music.

  • @MoralNihilism If you really do like this music, then I can respect that. Just in my travels, I've come across way too many hipster douches who think that "liking" obscure music somehow makes them better than the rest of society.

  • @Nicokid87 Yeah I really do like it, I wouldn't call myself a hipster douche, lol. There is plenty of obscure music I hate, and I like some mainstream music. I just find that in most cases, 'mainstream' music tends to be manufactured and bland.

  • @MoralNihilism

    You just saved my life

  • Captain, you just blew my fucking mind again!

  • kind of ashamed to admit that I didn't think much of this particular song while the guy was still alive but now it's one of my favorites on the album
