What I like is that in a hundred years none of this will matter, but that a gay person stood up for themselves in a murder trial during jury selection and asked to be let go for homophobia and was, it might be in some future law books. It is now public record...
I was recently at jury duty and made it to the twelve member jury area. They were asking me if I had ever been a victim of a violent crime, and I related my tale of being gaybashed two decades ago. Snickers and hissing came from one corner of the jury area and the judge scolded them for it. I also said that my marital status was no status since I cannot marry in the state of California...
I don't understand how people can snicker at violent crime and then somehow say they are more moral than other people. But obviously it happens.
For marital status, just last week I started to insist people call us "married." We've been living as a married couple for eleven years, we have two kids, and even a marriage license.
I decided that calling my husband anything other than "husband" is disrespectful and dishonest. I'll just let other people figure out how to deal with me instead of v.v.
aaaaaaaaand stay out hahahahah
