i have a limited edition 25r and a 95 peavey predator, have you been able to get a jazzy sound from your speaker cuz im debating weather to get this speaker or an eminence red coat, thanks
I NEED ADVICE...I just upgraded my frontman 25r with the same eminence ragin cajun speaker. It sounds amazing with the volume around 4, but when I turn it to around 6, the bass response sounds horrible, almost "airy" like air is being pushed through. Is that suppose to happen or did I install the speakers wrong or what? please give tips and advice...i'm playing through a fender jaguar btw and this only occur with the neck pickup. please respond
I own one of these... Best practice amp out there!... Don't just believe me... go ahead and try it!!... It is so cheap its a real steal!... so I Upgraded to the same Eminence Ragin Cajun 10" Spkr.... And Man!!!.... now Im in love!!!
i have a marshall amp: 30 W,whithout efects, only 2 lines, 1 clean and the otrer with overdrive, it doesn't have effects but its a great distorsion and it has reverb. I know that my marshall is a good amp, but i want to taste other sounds.
i am thinking in change my amp for a fender 25r. Is it a good desicion?
It's quite a cheap amp , and it's worth every fucking penny . I mean , I find it to be the best affordable practice amp there is. I said Affordable so don't you dare swing your VOX AC15/30 at me.
@lakajd Anything but the line 6....I've had a Line 6 spider, Marshall mg30, Vox Valvetronix vt50....almost gave up on solid state / modelling then tried the Fender Gdec 3 30. Try for yourself but I bet you'll like Fender better..
@pepper684 Clean is very good, reverb is decent,... overdrive is not too bad, used conservatively will render decent sound. Too loud for bedroom practice, but will serve. If you play in a small club it is gigable. You can plug in an mp3 player or any other audio source wich I find very usefull. I have had mine for almost 5 years without a problem. Recently I upgraded the speaker with an Eminence Ragin Cajun... Im in love!. If you are into effects just use a multieffects and youre done!
@pepper684 Hey you probably already got your amp a loong time ago, but, in case you didnt, i have this amp and it plays really well on clean channel, the distortion isnt that great but it's good for practice.
So if you're looking for an amp to practice on , this is a good one, other than that, i think you could find better ones.
@maciverandy I got one of these in a trade, thinking it'd be a little practice amp to make some noise, maybe for my daughter. I was pleasantly surprised - especially the low-end response. It has a very tube-y feel. As long as you turn the treble down to about 2, mid up (8 or 9) and bass about half (5 or 6). The reverb isn't great - it really swallows up the warmth, but nice with pedals. LOUD.
I love this amp! it's got great tone it's light and perfect for practice, the clean channel has the classic fender tone the dirt channel is passable but needs a tube screamer to wake it up and the reverb is top shelf when it works I mean, mine had a defect in the crimp on the 2 pin connector but I fixed it, but I can't complain this amp was cheap. Don't waste your money on any other practice amp, this is it!
for what it is..it does a great job. I replaced the stock speaker with the ragin cajun. Huge difference. Clean side is wonderful.. OD channel is ok. You buy it for the clean and fender reverb. Great little blues amp for the house... Very quiet too for a SS amp. It will take on a boss metal zone if needed..lol. Not meant to but it can handle heavey distortion pedals. For the price..great little amp.
@tommysheffield1992 No, it's not really the best for classic rock like you want to play. I have this amp and you can't use the distortion for anything, it sucks. You can plug some stomp boxes into it but I would just get a different amp.
You can gig with this amp if you mic it right... It has great tone, great distortion and has some great clean sounds. Not a bad way to spend 100 bucks
I have this amp, it's my first amp and it is pretty loud. It is 25 watts and doesn't have any effects besides reverb, but this amp has amazing gain, distortion, and when clean, it sounds amazing!
How loud is this amp. Im confused with wattage but apparently they dont cause the amp to be louder? Anyway I want to run a boss gt10 through it. Will it sound good.
I am in desperate need of a practice amp that handles effects well.
Higher wattage means the transistors/tubes (depends on the amplifier design), can handle higher volume. Transistors cut away the sound when you overstep what voltage they can handle, so higher Watt amps means can handle higher volume, and play it without distortion too. :) Tubes on the other hand distort the sound when they take a volume they can't handle, which is what makes them popular :p
ive been thinking about picking one up since its just $100. I'm noticing the speaker upgrade will cost about $70. Cant find a better practice amp with that power for $170 anywhere.
does the footswitch change the amp from the clean setting to the drive setting or does it turn reverb on and off?? because in the description on musicians friend it say footswitchable reverb so that throws me off.... if someone knows please reply cause i really need to know... thanks
I was wondering cause I am getting a Les Paul , and I wanted to know if this 25 watt. amp was better than a Line 6 spider IV 15 watt. amp´. I mean the quality and which one if better for distortion? or I could get a 15 watt Marshall but they dont have distortion, that what they told me , but wich one is better for distortion , remember one is loudness and other is distortion , so which one is better , Fender frontman or line 6 spider IV ?
if its with a band this should work. for live id get a mic and a PA to work with this cus the 65r would be alot to haul around. just so you know how strong this is i had a ds1 on the lowest distortion setting and the level like halfway and the gain channel on with the gain on 1 (for a little kick ) and my friend told me he heard me from the 5th floor of my apartment building. the volume was on 2. the 25r should be good for a band if you have it on like 5 or 6 for clean or 3 0r 4 for distortion
HI, just wondering if an eminence speaker with 12 inch diameter would fit inside the frontman 25r , can you please suggest an eminence speaker for jazz & blues, can't decide between cannabis rex or ramrod speaker. rajin cajun is too sharp for me/ or is it depend on the setting otherwise I would go for rajin ca speaker.
is it good for playing metallica and megadeth??, i have a great distortion... and also is it worth 130 euros.... and also does it comes with that eminence rajin cajuh speaker, or did you put it in later on??? Please reply all of there questons
Hi - doubtful for q1 - in the bedroom perhaps. New at 130 euros maybe, but probably used for half that or even less - rajun cajun was added later - stock speaker is eminence I think...
Hi - doubtful - at basement levels it can hang with a drummer who listens to the rest of the band. But a heavy hitter is likely to overwhelm it... that said, i used it for practice and playing with friends here and there...so never tested this theory.
@thegrindking180 this thing is really loud you will be able to keep up with the drummer most of the time and if you crank it which I suggest you don't do because it will blow the speaker(done it). It can blow a drummer playing pretty hard not really hard. I played my school with this amplifier filled the cafeteria completely with sound.
Your demo sounded great. Did you have to disassemble it to change the speaker, or did it fit through the opening in the back? I have a similar amp, and I was thinking about swapping the stock speaker for either the Rajin Cajun or the Ramrod.
Thanks! I did disassemble - just four screws - two on each side (near the bottom and from the chassis). Very straightforward - then just unclip the speaker. It might fit though - but on this amp, the baffle comes right out of the front. Good luck - glad this might be helpful.

whats Reverb for??
TheRockOutProduction 2 years ago
reverb is a spatial effect - creates the echo-ish sound...reverberation.
slugball 2 years ago
@TheRockOutProduction When you have reverb on, it simulates the feeling of playing in a big hall, maybe a stage.
It adds an echoe but not an echoe like delay.
