I worked in the wind industry for about 10 years with several diffrent companys(Seawest, enXco,and FPLE.) I've been out for about 3.5 years and I've got an interview with vestas in two days. I cant wait to get back into it.
i would advise anyone who wants a good recession proof job to look into wind. the industry needs people. its growing faster then the number of trained qualified tech coming into the field. thought there no potential for wind in Florida or any of the southern states. i could see you climbing one of these. from every tech that ive talked to they say the job isnt terribly hard and they all love it
A guy I knew from my old job, went to school for 15 months to become a technician. He said they had a couple guys come back to the school, who had graduated a year earlier.
These guys who now had some experience in the field (just under a year) were reporting that they were making BIG MONEY...
Like $20+ dollars and hour and a meal per diem of $80 to $100 a day.
These guys said they were bringing home $1,600 a week, after taxes
@TheLiptonGroup i will keep my subscribers up to speed on how i am doing in the field. i am about to graduate in may. the school is mesalands community in tucumcari new mexico. we have had GE recruiters so far. keep an eye on my channel, i will make videos about it time to time

What kind of money are these techs making ?

Fun fact - the "SKF" logo on the main bearing is short for "Svenska KullagerFabriken". Which translates to "The Swedish Ball Bearing Factory". =P
And I hate heights too which is why I focused on SKF rather than looking down lol.

@SkeptikSnarf
Please let me know how the job market is for this field. How long are your studies, at the school where you are studying ?
Do you guys already have recruiters from GE, Siemens and Vesta coming out to your school ?
What school are you going to ? - What part of the country ?
I wonder if the number of techs in a few years, will start to catch up with the demand ?
Please write back --- Thanks
