I do respect Jacque Fresco, but is he justifying parents killing their children? I don't want to think that he is, but that's how I'm interpreting it at the moment. Never does he insinuate that it's a -bad- thing, just something that happens. I guess it's a remark on the sometimes animalistic nature of humans.

@celestialchik no he is not justifying that, he's trying to illustrate how certain conditions can and have pushed people to do these unthinkable things. Our system of seeking justice by locking them away or killing them may feel good to those who have no understanding of human behavior. But it never destroys a value system, nor does it address the desperate conditions that drive people into killing and violence.

Has anyone ever tried using Jacque's ideas and concepts to form a political party? Where the party would (try to) ferry everyone across and then absolve as it served it's purpose?

I'd really like to know what everyone thinks about this (Jacque in particular) and how I would go about setting up such a project.

@Conibeer he doesn't advocate it that i am aware of. In politics-more than any other business-you would probably have to conform with too many price system constraints to effectively adhere to Jacque's standards.

@Conibeer it really depends on the conditions at that time; if enough people are out of work/not eating/homeless and enough people know about this system then it might be funded through government grants, or NPO's or NGO's. It sounds far fetched i know but consider what they did under FDR-and the wealthy hated his guts-but they avoided a revolution. But in the present climate i can't see how any candidate even slightly outside the dominant values would get in.

It does seem to me, again, that in the same way that we have helped the spreading of communication with internet, and so many behaviors have been reoriented around the existence of such technology, the same thing will happen when Venus Project technology comes to us, so I am wishing that those cities be built soon.

I've never heard of animals eating their young to protect them from predators. I'd like to know what animal that is.

I have however heard of Cichlid fish in Malawi lake (I think it was - in Africa) that holds their young in their mouths to protect them. They don't eat their young, but hold their young in their mouths until its safe to let them out. Could that be what Jacque is talking about?

Anyway, always interesting listening to Jacque. May the resource-based economy become reality soon. :)

Heres an idea to get kids excited: How abou some 'Venus Project Toys'? The kids would want them, they would beg their mommy and daddy, the toy city could come with a bonus Disc describing the new economy.

Next, the parents will be intrigued to visit site, then will want to get involved.

*The disc could be understandable for children see the difference in each economy.

Also, there is an easy way to transcribe this video, by using InqScribe, and if you change the playback speed to 2x slower, it's even easier
