  • Ever heard that story about some guy that was tourtured with pepper spray in a jail cell in florida? He died as a result and made me believe that a good percentage of the force is like that. Not ALL, but a good percentage (i would say 1-3%)

  • 0:21 "probable cause" LMAO :)))))

  • dont do drugs kids !

  • the funniest part, at least for me, is when Robert Downey Jr and Woody Harrelson are going to fight in the driveway. That whole scene kills me.

  • jaja

  • I love Freck. He's my favorite character . :3

  • my favorite is barrisis thought bubble in the diner

  • Love how when he pulls in a copper drives past lol

  • So twistedly funny!

  • ylkrad rennacs!!! lmao@ "i dont get it"

  • You have the right to remain silent, till and uh...and anything you say can and will be used against you, when you uh... when... uh... FUCK THIS SHIT!

  • naw lol the best scene is when woody O.D's in the kitchen LMAO

  • Great movie although i would say some ot the other scenes are even better ;)

  • man, fuck this shit, pow - lol

  • lolz, this was a really good movie....

Though i dont think this is the best scene...

the one's with Robert Downey Jr. are!!!

  • @BrianneH123 yeah the ones with robert downey jr are priceless like when hes in the police questioning room, and in the diner with freck. and the one where he gets the bike, and in the car.

  • I think if I watched this movie tripping it would be like all movies I watch tripping, I think the movie is my life. freak out for a while. Come out of it amazed and then when I watch it when i'm sober to realize it was nothing like I remembered.

  • @miceskin You gotta watch this movie while on mushrooms. Seriously. Shrooming.

  • @vassephardi no no you dont have it!..you have to watch this movie while on 2 blotters of LSD,100 x mushrooms,2x mescalin - than you will be at correct state of mind when this movie MAKE A sense!!and you will understand it.!! dude!

  • @killyourego1983

No that misses the point. Philip K. Dick wanted to write about Nixon era paranoia and drugs without either glamorizing or condemning it, merely showing you reality

  • @AScann3rDarkly Now my friend now you are missing my point - what I wrote supposed to be joke...If anyone is posting here coments like -TRY TO WATCH THIS while tripping on blah blah blah its so funny!I just wanna make a joke.I do know a P.K.Dick work and I know in what era he wrote his novels...

  • @killyourego1983

lol, you're fucking stupid. you don't have to be doing any kind of drugs to understand this movie and what it's about.

  • @tokejyn hahaha you are stupid couse what I wrote below said that you dont have to do them...it was joke..you didnt get it couse you are stupid not me.sry.

  • @killyourego1983 Wow these guys are a bunch of bitter @ssholes who can't take a joke.

  • @killyourego1983 thats funny. you are calling someone stupid, yet you can't spell simple words. What the hell is couse? moron.

  • This movie makes no sense when you're sober until..and uhh...but when you do the impairment...uh...after you've had taken a few....a few.....Fuck this shit! *BOOM*

  • Haven't seen this myself. One of my buddy's brought me on to it. Said it would be a nice Movie to triip on. lol

  • lol.. that dudes spun duck

  • FUCK THIS SHIT!

  • PROBABLE CAUSE!

  • Do a YouTube search for "Swords of I-Ching" to see another video in a similar rotoscoped style.

  • is this movie worth 2 buy?

  • actually it is brilliant, 5 minutes before that, the bugs catching and the shower are fantastic too, brilliant film, great character!

  • Best scene EVER!!!

  • I love how he's hallucinating that the bugs are INSIDE his head.

  • When the police dude asks him his name, there's two things going on, both satirical.

One, he don't know his name, haha, he's on that Substance D! :P

Two, The police officer smirking "Probable cause" after no reply for his name is satirizing 1970's paranoia and government monitoring (from the original novel of the same title by Philip K Dick) and thus the present day we live in. It reflects the use of drugs and paranoia we live in today.

  • insects...

  • lol "Man, fuck this shit!" *SPLAT*

  • Great film I remember watching it ages ago, anyone know how it was made? Or have links to anybehind the scenes etc?

  • @Nogert - I think they call it rotoscoping. So far as my basic understanding goes, it's when the animation is made over the top of pre-recorded live action. They used this for some parts of the old Snow White movie believe or not! For rotoscoping more like this, you might want to check out 'Waking Life'. Dunno about any behind the scenes stuff though, sorry.

  • Rotoscoping. Try Wikipedia. There's also a full making-of that explains it on the DVD. Could be up on YouTube.

  • omg people, its a damn anxiety to begin with, and he is only thinking of the worst that could happen. so forget if the cop asked what his name is, he went pass him. did you watch the ending?

  • Oh you don't know your name? Sir i'm going to have to ask you to uh. um......

  • Great movie, Funny and very telling of what our future is going to be like.

  • ha that happens to me all the time.. weird

  • probable cause!

  • An example of tyranny right here, Militarized Police, just pulling you over for no reason, asking you what your name is without even telling you what you have been pulled over for.

  • Care to pay attention and realize it was a fantasy?

  • I do realize it is just a made up story, does not mean that things similar to this cannot happen, infact police all over the country are being militarized.

  • @LavaMountainKat This scene isn't about opression - it's more about drug induced paranoia then anything.

Furthermore, A Scanner Darkly does not intend to say "Government = Bad". It's a piece that asks the question "Is the destruction of one worth the benefit of the whole?"...it doesn't make a point to answer that question.

  • agreed, there exists a paradox: society remains in a state of fear/paranoia due to the drug epidemic, but in combating this by becoming more authoritative and intrusive the government then becomes the source for this fear, not the drugs

  • and shooting your head off!...seriously where are you from, Sudan? what third world country is letting you get on youtube

  • @tyso7540

Lol yep agree, but did you in any event reconsider the movie Judge Dread with Sylvester Stallone? How far away is it???

  • @tyso7540 he ran a fantasy number in his head

  • Comment removed

  • yeah, an officer should not ask someone his name just like that, if I ever got pulled over like that and they asked me my name I would ask them what I was pulled over for first.

  • Comment removed

  • Police states always start with "guilty before proven innocent" why not just get frisked every time you walk down the street? if you have nothing to hide why not let the police go through all your stuff and check your pockets every time you go for a walk?

  • lol, I have no problem with people knowing my name, I have a problem with police officers treating me like a criminal when I have done nothing to provoke them or to even give them probable cause.

  • if you are stopped by the police it's for a reason, maybe you don't know the reason but they do, oh and just because they are asking you your name doesn't mean they are treating you like a criminal.

  • if that wasnt sarcasm, you just suck.

  • i take that back!

  • Freck is awesome, i still love the scene where his sins are read to him by that dude with a million eyes

  • THe film is amazing but you have to watch carefully. Or just watch twice. First time for gneral impression (which was powerful for me), and the second time for these little bits.

  • You have the right to pull out your gun first and silence the...

  • hahahahahaha! Great part! great movie.

  • Where can i get this movie?

    I wanna watch it..

  • Blockbuster, also watch a waking life...

  • waking life is beautiful

  • spell 'scanner darkly' backwards then do a search for what you just spelt.

  • @zliminator what? a find a video that dont let me watch

  • @thodorisgiannakopoul that was a year ago. They probably have taken it down by now. I spelled 'pulp fiction' backwards and found that movie in its entirety too.

  • @zliminator i dont get it

  • @zliminator haha! discounted scanners! wtf??? lolololol

  • this scene really highlights Phillip K. Dick's distrust of the government and the abuse available to those in power.

  • Also the paranoia of a blown out drug addict.

  • ya i agree i think that freck survives but is fucked in the head

  • Is that an Idiocracy cop?

  • definitely not the best scene, especially for freck, the best freck scene is his suicide attempt scene in my opinion...for those who havent seen the movie it is a must see. so go, right now, to the store and rent it!

  • so he didnt die? i was wondering because during a later scene when reves charicter is sent to a "new way" himslef and a group of patients are talking in a group about the dead and the living, when i think i see a bald freck, talking to reves, i was confused and i thought that freck was one of reves halusinations as they were talking about the dead and living, and i assumed by now he knew freck was long dead.

  • I think that he believed Freck was dead, but in reality with the whole "Alien reading his sins" thing, was just a hallucination.

  • yeah haha. "Your sins will be read out to you, ceaselessly, for all eternity" - Worst fucking trip ever!!!!!!!

  • I love Freck

  • eehh um weh fuck this shit! uh...whats the parasite thing i havent seen the movie

  • He's hallucinating cuz he's been really fucked up from using Substance D constantly, and the bugs have been brought up into his imagination since the beginning of the movie.

P.S. Every character in the movie are a little "crazy", but the way they act is exactly what many rampant drug-users are like. I can sorta relate too since I blaze and flip candy lol

  • do you freak out when you pay for an 18 speed bike and then realize it only has 9, i mean, 8 gears, too???

    :))

  • The gears are probably still laying there on the floor... LETS GO RESCUE THE ORPHAN GEARS DUDE!

  • Total total total totally total total... total providence.

  • High five for being a real Scanner Darkly fan. It's one of the best films ever made, I think. Top 25.

  • High five right back at ya. I agree. AMAZING movie. :))

  • research illuminati symbolism in a scanner darkly. Its strange to think that Keanu Reeves, Woody Harrelson, Robert Downey Jr. and Alex Jones are all in this film. On Robert Downeys t-shirt there is a distinct pyramid with an eye in it in the cafe scene. The film is full of symbolism.

  • Well if director wanted AJ in movie he probably knew about NWO and maybe he use symbolism as subliminal massage- spreading awarness of it existence..There are many movies like that..

  • What the fuck are you talking about?

  • Thats true,I agree...

  • No such thing.

  • trippy shit watched it on film4 last night

  • If I was near you, I would slap you very hard across the face.

  • That was basically the polite way of saying:

    IT'S IN THE FUCKING TITLE

and most of the related clips to the side...

  • u like the clip..............fema and the feds will make it your reality soon enough...........FIGHT FOR SOVEREINTY...............every state.........do urselves a favour

  • All scenes with Freck and Barris are hilarious.

  • cualkier semejanza con la realidad.......

  • i laughed too much at this part {:

  • Love this scene but for me the best scenes are the Bob Archer monologues. I love his use of words & the music. It sets quite a depressing feeling which I almost cant help but relate to.

  • I like the scene with the inter-dimensional guy

  • This guy looks like a crack smoker i got high with many years ago... what a freak

  • guys with really good eye brows are gorgeous i swear to jezus

  • Just because your paranoid doesn't mean there not out to get you

  • Whoa... got a little paranoid... lol

  • "fuck this shit! *bang*

  • at 0:40.. splattered roach on the screen.. why?

  • Its all in his head......He is feeling effects of a drug and he is believing that he has insects inside of his head....IDK this is a really fucked up movie...

  • It's just his drug addled imagination at work. Prior to this scene he believes his entire body is infested with aphids.

I would really suggest watching the movie though; alternatively, you can read the book.

  • Yeah, the movie is really good. Phillip K. Dick has a crazy imagination. Unfortunately, most movies that try to adapt his stories fail pretty hard.

  • The sensation of bugs crawling in or on the skin from the abuse of some psychoactive drugs (In this case: substance D)is called formication.

  • @MacPete187 akfak

  • Whats so out of the oridinary about that cop?

  • FUCK THIS SHIT!

  • very well made movie actually i liked it too bad i was on like 300 mgofritalin and about 3 gs o weed XD gotta watch that shit on mush now.

  • You musta been trippin pretty hard.

  • substance d...

  • no bicycle scene

  • Brilliant film!...

Hey! There is Alex Jones there too! :D

Most people i have discussed about this movie, still cant read between the lines and the perspective of this film. I guess they have to be tased first! LoL

  • i lol'd a bit at the cinema wen i saw that

  • Hehehe. Paranoid-schizo loon!

  • wow so he has bugs inside him?

  • why not.

  • it freaked me out lol, it is an awesome movie

  • No, its a drug he does that makes him think he's covered in these flea like creatures all over his body as a withdrawl period.

  • Reminds me of DPH... the spiders... the spiders...

  • You notice police have this new police where they can taser you for not answering questions or showing your ID lately? This is the first step. They want police to use non-lethal force so they can get cops used to tasering people. Later, they'll just shoot you...

  • Albino shape-shifting lizard bitches!!

  • Freck is the best character in the movie, next to Barris.

Every scene with him in it is just epic.

  • Barrriisss!!! Robert Downey was amazing in this:)

  • lol i love that scene

  • very trippy movie and its awsome!

  • this movie is a "BALLS "TRIPPER" its amazing

  • SHIT. what else happens

    good secne. scary movie

  • This movie was sooooooooooo sketchy.

  • The best animated movie ever. one of the best movies ever period. when I first saw this film it blew my mind. Now im hunting for the book.

  • i love that movie. for me, one of the best movies ever. but go and read the book by philip k. dick before you watch the movie!

  • So funny

  • That was creepy.

  • Whats the song does anyone know?

  • it's from the official soundtrack of the movie.

  • the title music of the beginning is "Aphids", but at time 00:18 is that another title or the same?

  • have seen this movie, just great ;-) that guy on this video remembers me of someone, but I never saw him, don't know his movies

  • I think that guy is on CSI Miami... but I'm not for sure...

  • yes he is, I've read it, but I also don't know CSI Miami ^^

  • i still think the funniest part is the missing gears scene.

this is the coolest scene though.

  • ahaha, yeah, or the part when Woody harrelson and robert downey jr. (sry dont remember the characters names) are fighting outside by the car, aha.

Oh, or the whole scene on the road trip to San Diego

  • ahaha, yeah, or the part when Woody harrelson and robert downey jr. (sry dont remember the characters names) are fighting outside by the car, aha.

Oh, or the whole scene on the road trip to San Diego

  • lol

    "what kind of bug?"

"About to get fucked up bug beetle!"

  • hahaha yeah makes sense now, cheers. I just ate a chicken schnitzel and avocado and have work meeting in 4 hours after a shit load of 2 dollar basic spirits. You really did need to know that... cheers..

  • the war on drugs is a farce.

  • this movie is just trying to explain a part of whats going on in America... thats right are country

  • Its dead on.

  • Stop judging people on Youtube and get a life.

  • this movie gives best reason not to do drugs in a land where they are prohibited. simply because the drug dealing part of the government wants. no. needs you to do them. if you think it is a metaphore, or sci fi, or trippy you are right.but on the other hand. it is here, and now, reality, and sobering.
