Shoot them and if you cannot get a recharge in less than the time your butt is about to be whipped, throw it at them when you charge. Simple, a firearm you have is a tool, kinda like a hammer or a stick.
@canisdormit I'm inclined to agree that these 2 calibers are very underpowered, but you also have to take into consideration, maybe someone can't handle anything bigger. Imagine a 70 year old woman who wants something to defend herself, but can't handle the recoil of a 45, 40, or even a simple 9 MM. A 32 caliber may not seem like much, but I've heard stories of criminals being killed with 22's at a range of 15 yards. Like the old saying goes, better to be armed with something than to have nothin
@centurion205 I really dont buy the "caliber is too big to handle" argument. Theres a video on here of a 90 year old shooting a machine gun from a wheelchair. If you can't handle the recoil of a handgun then one of two things is happening; you have a physical deformity that prevents you from holding a weapon, or you have a mental defficiency that prevents you from using a weapon. And yes, you can kill someone with a 22 and a lucky shot. But let's say you dont get a lucky shot...u die.
@canisdormit I've seen that video, but take into consideration her shots were all over the place. I know people with medical issues that honestly won't shoot anything over a 25 because they don't like the recoil or physically can't handle it. yeah a 22 killshot is rare, but then again sometimes it's that or nothing. And when the only thing between me and possible death is that small gun, I'd fire every last round at the hostile target and be glad of it. Any caliber weapon is better than nothing.
@centurion205 I'd recommend 38 as the smallest self defense round, even a small stature, small handed person should have no problem with recoil if they know how to shoot. The average person could easily shoot a 40 cal semi-auto fullsize with mo recoil problem, if they practice shooting a little.
@centurion205 a .22 rifle is lethal up to a mile, beretta .22 pistol about 50 yards, but accurate up to 25 yards, however if your close to them, it shoots as fast and you pull the trigger with no kcik, so you shoot faster than someone shooting a .38
ehhh i concur ... even a .22 short could be a self defense gun. You'd understand if you have been shot in the torso with one. Fuck...a potato cannon could be a "self defense gun". But yes .38 is probably the smallest round i'd like to carry, or perhaps a 9mm largo...Largo *drools*
@1faSStchevy I promise you that if I shot you in the head, eyeball, the chest, gut, or leg it would knock your ass down. That's not what he was even talking about. He said the .25 is the smallest of the "knock down" guns meaning they are the smallest pistol that can kill you.
@rebelnomo And I can promise you that you'll pay hell trying to shoot me in the head while I'm moving. Now with my .40 or .45 I WILL be able to put 2 shots to the center of mass and that WILL end the fight. I know someone who was shot in the abdomen by a .32 and he never hit the ground. As a matter of fact he was still able to wrestle the guy and arrest him. And another thing, .25 is not the smallest that can kill someone, a .177 pellet can do it too.Don't come at me over a sarcastic remark.

@1faSStchevy Well to be fair, he said it was on "The lower rung of the ladder for knock down power". That is a valid statement because he is identifying it as the low end of power in comparisons to larger calibers. It would be different if he said something like "The .25 and .32 offer substantial knock down power." But at the end of the day, a bullet is a bullet, and I don't want to be hit by any of them.
@Videopwnd i'm pretty sure a .32 caliber will go through someone jus because its small doesnt mean it wont do damage it'll usually hold less ammo the other guns but then again look at a single and double barrel shotgun they only hold 1 and 2 shells but people seem to stop when u point it at em lol
@flameboyab velcity is better then mass eg. small projectail going very high speed will have more enengy then a heavy projectil going half the speed of the high speed small projectil !
@hardman476 i dont quite understand wat that all means because i dont kno all those stats bout guns but all i kno is u only gotta be in a shotguns range for it to rip u apart and u dont have to kil someone with a pocket pistol when u could jus shot em a few times make it hurt and go on with ur day haha
@hardman476 yeah thats true but the 9mm will punch a small self-cauderizing wound and the .45 ACP will go through the vest expand and literally knock them on the floor. I have personal Experience. I've been shot with a 9mm, and have seen the affect of a human being struck by a .45 ACP cartridge. I personally go with the size and weight of the .45 with a slightly hotter load.
soft bullet resistant vests like those made of kevlar worn by police can be penetrated by the larger pistol calibers like .41 magnum and above. they are only designed to stop the most commonly used calibers like 9mm, .45 acp, .357 magnum ect.
@NEONRAPTOR1 they are illegal bro we have the most shit gun laws ever those are considered pocket pistols and the damn liberals delcare that we cant have em suck eaa
@quinnlipotvin depends where you are. In PA you can open carry without a LTCF except in Philly. But you have to walk every where you and you have to stay 1000 feet from a school. The LTCF in PA gives you the ability to carry in a car and concealed.
You folks laught at the small caliber pistols but have you read the FBI's report on how many folks are killed with what caliber guns? I use to say the same thing about small caliber guns not being able to penatrate much but that report surprised me. I still wouldn't trust MY life to anything smaller than a 9mm. Well, actually any caliber starting with the number 4 would be best IMO. It's still great to see Walmart selling fire arms again after Michael Moore's film. What a DICK!
Nothing smaller than 9mm is what I will trust my life on in self defense. Wrong feeling of safety when you carrying the gun that will not protect you does more harm that good.
I carry a 9mm Beretta 92FS with hollow points I wouldn't go smaller than a 9mm. I don't go out of my way to conceal it and no one has ever said a thing to me about it. Last I knew we have no law stating anything wrong with imprinting on clothing here in Kansas but I don't really keep up on any new stuff. Many people I know carry without a permit. I usually wear a vest on warmer days to cover it eventually I will by a smaller 9mm.
These people had guns but obviously didnt intend to hurt anyone. I could do more damage with a good sized rock. 25 ACP? Half the time it wont even penetrate winter clothing. Junk..
Mod 21 is better in .22lr. 950 Jetfire is THE .25acp if you are gonna carry a little mousegun. Any gun can be lethal. Yes, .380 or 9mm and up is best for SD, but not everyone can carry a Desert Eagle everywhere. I carry a LCP on the bicycle and a M&P or .357 elsewhere.
@mrmott44 Agreed, but when it's out of these mousegun barrels, caliber becomes less relevant. For example, the Kel-Tec P32 and the Kel-Tec P3AT, one is .32, one is .380, both end up only producing about 200 joules of energy because of the short barrels. In longer barrels, .380 picks up a lot more velocity while .32 still stays fairly weak.
I have a P32 now because the recoil is almost nonexistent and it holds one more round than the P3AT or Ruger LCP, also has a last round slide lock function.
@TheBgcheez Sometimes it is just not practical or possible to carry a .45 and a smaller gun is better than no gun at all. Carry what you feel comfortable carrying. Be safe.
@anslowp1 why isn't it practical to carry a .45 all the time the majority if not all the states that have Concealed carry also allow Open Carry. So just Open Carry.
@armypenguin .357 has more penetration (way more) and more energy than either a .45acp or .49s&w. Even in a 2-3" barrel 1460fps of .357 sure beats 950fps with a 45. A j-frame .357 is easily concealed in a pocket (only 5 shots though)
@mrmott44 Penetration yes but energy depends on what your talking about are we talking about joules on impact? or fps muzzle velocity? because joules on impact I can't guarentee you but i'm pretty sure that a .45 has more joules on impact and idk aboutt .40 I would assume its probably about equal to the .357. Muzzle velocity yes the .357 wins for certain.
@armypenguin In my state (SC) open carry is not legal, so concealed is the only option if you are not a LEO. On very hot, humid days during the summer here in SC, concealing a .45 can be really difficult if you want to wear just shorts and a t-shirt.
@anslowp1 Well just have a BIG ASS bulge if they don't want to allow oc thats there fault. Yeah that sucks definately. Michigan has some bs knife laws some idiot law makers but we got OC and I take advantage of that whenever I leave my house when going to areas that its allowed.
@armypenguin I don't think you have a grasp on Concealed Carry laws, esp. SC's. "Concealed means CONCEALED." A bulge, or 'print' as it's often called, that is obviously a firearm, visible to others, can be considered no longer 'concealed' and can get you in trouble. This can range from a warning from a cool LEO to a misdemeanor charge/conviction and a loss of one's CWP. It's what many of us are stuck with, and therefore a variety of guns is helpful.
@anslowp1 I think that would be an interesting gun case because it can't be seen you have no clue whats there it could be a something theres no way to tell.
@armypenguin I'm not sure if there have been any cases successfully prosecuted for 'printing' in SC, but the CWP instructors make a HUGE deal of it. Better safe than sorry (and in jail). One can get creative with carry methods, holsters, and clothing styles to hide a large frame auto, but sometimes (ie at work) that is not a possibility, so a smaller gun fits the bill. A 'mousegun' in your pocket when needed is more powerful than the .45 in the safe....
@anslowp1 Well hell even in Michigan the majority of CWP instructors throw bitch fits about OC idk maybe because they think it takes away from their profits? Yeah you can always get creative and your right a mousegun in the pocket beats a .45 in the safe. BTW it doesn't take away from profits you still need to have CWP to carry in alot of places that you would want to carry in.
My problem is i'm only 18 so I can't get a CWP yet bunch of BULLSHIT.
@jdoepel1 yes but were not talking about somewhere where there is no carry at all aloud unless you plan to break the law. If your ccing chances are you can oc. Which is what i plan to do a loose cc as I call it.
@AGeekWithAShotgun I don't think that you know what the word "slave" means.
I'm not even talking about how America has enslaved and discriminated blacks and en-prisoned japanese, but discriminated women, hispanics, gays, jews, italians, native americans, anarchists, communists etc..
But you would go so far as to say your more free than an Australian, just because your allowed to buy fucking guns?
America has NEVER discrimated against races and political groups; only individuals of the nation just like any other.
", just because your allowed to buy fucking guns?"
Obviously you lack the ability to engage in critical thinking when you can't even understand the simple correlation of gun ownership and free will. There is NOTHING free about Aus. Keep paying your carbon taxes over the next couple of years as they scale 2.5% each year and you'll see what I mean.
@AGeekWithAShotgun Fine, the country hasn't discriminated against blacks, just millions of people, the laws, the courts and the system...
Your stuck in the 1700s, it's a different time, which is why it's not wise anymore (or at least it's not slavery!!) to say everyone can't get a weapon.
"which is why it's not wise anymore (or at least it's not slavery!!) to say everyone can't get a weapon."
Did you make a grammatical error or are you saying that everyone ought to have the right to own a weapon? I'm under the impression it's a grammatical error.
This time, more than ever, is the time to own a weapon. 7 billion+ people, dense populations breed high violent crime rates. High violent crime rates produce the need to have a method of self-defense.
But if you want to continue personifying America as if it's some kind of conscious individual of the world society, be my guest, but it won't get you any points. Bigotry is found everywhere in the world.
"anarchists, communists etc.."
McCarthyism died out years ago. Just because I go up to you and state "The redistribution of wealth promotes a welfare-state of laziness and immorality; and the End does NOT justify the means!" doesn't mean I'm discriminating against you.
@AGeekWithAShotgun Canadians are similarly encumbered by government. That might be changing slightly as we are poised to scrap our rifle and shotgun registry!
"In Warm Weather times?" what are we supposed to shoot each other at the right time of season? "Na, niggah is to cold out da kill dat niggah." BWAHAHAH
Why is there a bullet shortage in the U.S.A? Chuck Norris is on vacation....so 99.998% of the united states most violent and vicious criminals stop sweating them. FM Jr miami Fl.
if you have nothing else, a knife handy, then 22 is the way to go, i carry my LCP, loaded w 95 grain JHPs i have done testing on ballistic gel, it will fuck the target up \ up to about 7 yrds, ut then again that's probably the limit of self defense engagement anyways if you are getting robbed, in the winter time my kimber ultra carry 45 /my G26 are better choices, but hot summers in the southeast, throw on some cargo shorts and just slip you LCP in your pocket, feather weight, heavy hitter
you'd be surprised wat a 22 up to a 380 can do. wen they hit you they roll and break apart and cause serious damage. but if u want intimidation and dont want to shoot carry like a miniture 9mm. my cousin has a custom order.
I'm 49 years old, lifelong gunner and CCW guy. I could run rings around nut-n-fancy with my accumulated weapons experience. The one time I used a mousegun to ward off attackers was almost my undoing. It was my BUG. They were not impressed and I almost had to use the silly thing. It would not have saved me from 4 doped up attackers, but the .357 magnum I left in another vehicle WOULD have. There's no excuse for carrying a mousegun these days with TINY 9MMs and 40s available. It's your skin, tho
When it comes to "mouseguns", proponents of them aren't really comparing them to the stopping power or intimidation factor of, say, your .357 magnum. It's obvious which one is the winner there. They are comparing them to the stopping power of no gun at all.
These are for people who would otherwise leave their gun at home due to large size or weight.
@diggingforgold I've heard this bogus argument for decades. It simply does not work, especially when compact, quality 9MMs are available. It's simple lazyness, ignorance and/or incompetence that causes a person to pack a mousegun as a primary
I guess I'm a bogus, lazy, ignorant, and incompetent person. Thank you for judging me for what *I* decide to carry for *MY* personal defense. But at least I'm armed 24/7 with a variety of calibers suitable for the job. There are many people that buy massive guns because of their stopping power alone and never consider anything else such as concealability or convenience. I feel confident & comfortable carrying a Crimson Trace equipped Ruger LCP loaded with top tier ammo in my pocket.
@7pt62manNW so you would count on 6, maybe 7 rounds of .357 magnum to stop 4 drugged up guys. i hope your a good shot and can hit them all in a vital organ within the 1st shot or two, or they would leave u fucked up. good luck with them all coming at u at the same time. high capacity+shot placement+fast follow up shots x moderate sized round=winner.
@bearsfan1294 people have killed bears with 2 shots out of a 3.5inch .357 Mag. Although the drugged up part does effect it. People on PCP have been known to take many gun shot wounds without noticing or it effecting them.
@PingOnThis Not really any more. You need to do research and find out about the gun before buying it. Hi-Points work just fine yet they cost so little. BTW i'm talking new Hi-Points not old ones that had problems.
@gretz11111 I just bought a Raven MP-25 .25 auto (The original Saturday Night Special) from a pawn shop in Texas for $80. You walk in, buy it, they do a background check, and walk out with your pistol. I searched for a tutorial on Youtube on how to break and down and clean it, and she's lookin' brand new. Not bad for under a hundred bucks. Brand new, you can get something like a Kel-Tec for a couple hundred. Brand new is always best because you have warranties and all that.
Pocket pistols and sub-compacts range in price from about $100 to well over $2500, depending on manufacturer, cosmetics, and so on. However, most run between $250 and $850. In this range, you'll find Beretta, Glock, Kel-Tec, Ruger, and similar. If you want to see all your options, pick up a magazine buying guide describing the current models, with the manufacturers' suggested retail prices. This will give you an idea of which fall roughly within the range you want to spend.
Mouseguns.. carry at least a 9MM +P if you're one of the good guys. If you're one of the bad guys, please bring some chalk and a toe tag to save the cost to the taxpayer
The fact of the matter is, these tiny pistols have saved TONS of lives. Watch the video "Obligation of Carry" by nutnfancy here on YouTube if you don't understand.
In terms of what I'd choose, I'd probably put my faith in what the police use. Like an Ithica 37, Remington 870... something 12-gauge along the lines of that. If you get a gun, ur usually best going with what police use. Most of the time, they pick their weapons based upon how reliable they are in addition to being a little less lethal, which is why they have 9mms now, instead of .357s and .45s.
Don't you have to be 21 to buy any kind of a firearm? I thought that was the way it always was. It may have been 18. But this is completely silly and it's the reason liberals try to deny gun rights. That's why we do mandatory background checks. And it's why we need to arm citizens. Had other ppl in the school been armed, it may have saved lives.
No, in most states, the legal age for long guns (rifles and shotguns) is 18. In most states, you have to be 21 in order to buy a handgun. The federal government regulates gun sales from an FFL. However, some states made it legal for 18 year olds to buy pistols from a private sale (not a gun store owner).
Yeah well that's how most people that shouldn't have any guns get them. Through a private seller. Whether it's a garage sale or on the black market. The only check that gets done on them is the one to see if they have the right cash. I don't like buying privately. I buy all my guns new from a licensed dealer so I'm sure I'm not doing anything illegal, but also because I have nothing to hide. I'm a law-abiding citizen so idc if they run a background check on me. I prefer them doing that to all.
If you are concerned about how well you would shoot during an incident, try practicing with your heart rate elevated.. run in place, then aim and shoot.. do that for a couple hours, and use a diagnostic target. You will get better, I promise. Any pistol caliber can be effective it you are a profficient shooter. Even .22 or .25. I carry a .380 or a 9mm depending on the weather (concealability) and I practice often. I would recommend that everyone else does too.
That still won't cut it. I would still want to go with a 9mm. What happens if a dog with rabies tries to attack you? You would need to fire one shot from a decent caliber pistol. 9mm has light recoil and pretty good stopping power. IMO, that is the reason why it is a good choice for a carry gun. Those small caliber arms are too small to handle and the caliber is just too weak.
My dad has a little .22 rifle. It's okay. It's good for shooting rabbits and small game, but we have coyotes around here and a .22 won't cut it when one attacks you unless you get a good headshot. I would still not feel safe even with a 9mm in most situations. I'd prefer a shotgun or else I'd go with a .40 or bigger. My preferred handgun is the 1911 .45. It depends though. A 9mm with good hollowpoints is pretty effective for self defense.
I would definately stick to 9mm though over .45. I am noticing less and less places are carrying .45 ACP ammo which my 1911 uses, and it's getting more expensive where you can still find it. 9mm is common, good accuracy, and like you said, 9mm pistols have low recoil, there are good reliable 9mm pistols like the 92FS or the Glock 17 or SIG 226. I'd even say the Walther P99 is a good CCW. 'Spy guns' are always good conceal carry and the P99 is available in 9mm.
agreed... which is why my ideal ccw is a 1911 .45, not a walther. even if i carried a walther, i'd want a ppk, not a p99 as a ppk is easier to conceal, but the ppk's largets caliber is .380. not as powerful as a .45acp or 9mm.
Well yeah you can still buy it. I'm just saying it's getting more expensive to buy it in large quantities. It's a better deal when you buy the thousand round cans for like a couple hundred bucks than it is to pay for like a box of 20.
Well as for handguns, I think most places require you to be 18. Lots of places won't sell to anyone under 21. And I think the legal age to buy them might actually be 21. You have to have a clean criminal record. No felonies. Idk what they do if you have misdemeanors. I don't think it can be anything criminal. You have to be metally stable. Handguns have a waiting period for a Federal Background Check. Not sure how long that is. I don't think they have that check on long guns.
By long guns, I'm strictly talking about hunting rifles and shotguns. For assault rifles, I don't know if they have a waiting period or not. I'm pretty sure they do a background check. As for cost, depends if you buy it new or used, what band you buy. Colts are my favorite. They tend to be a bit on the pricey side if you buy them new. Ammunition is not very expensive unless you shoot alot. It's hard to buy ammo in bulk, but I have no trouble buying a couple boxes once in awhile to go 2 the range
Like a new Colt .45 1911... I've seen them anywhere from $800 to $1000 for just a plain old Colt 1911 in .45. There are different variations of 1911's too. Like there are Gold Cups. Those can get up near $2k new. HK's guns are also very pricey. But HK is another brand I like because I know that if I pay that extra money, I'm getting a quality firearm. I'd say just shop around and look at some stuff. Maybe go to the range and shoot some. Get a feel. Get what you like.
Over 18 years old, background check is clean (must be convicted of no crimes), and some other things. Different firearms and ammo cost different amounts of money.
If you want to carry a pocket pistol, then what you want is a Boberg XR9 or XR9s.
These are the size of a pocket pistol but shoot 9mm rounds (and can reliably feed hollowpoint ammo, which you most certain should use) and have a full length barrel due to an innovative design.
Those pocket pistols featured only have about a 30% chance of putting a criminal out of commission. A 9mm with full sized barrel and hollowpoints has about a 90% chance....with the same gun size and profile.
believe me i am liscensed to carry concealed.....40 cal and up nothign less...i wanna kill a person if i have to not piss him off...prefer the subcompact glock model 27 .40 cal or even my glock 21.45 cal
I'll just keep my Weatherby thank you very much

@rebelnomo And I can promise you that you'll pay hell trying to shoot me in the head while I'm moving. As a matter of fact he was still able to wrestle the guy and arrest him. And another thing, .25 is not the smallest that can kill someone, a .177 pellet can do it too.Don't come at me over a sarcastic remark.

@1faSStchevy a .32 is alright, anything below that is wack... but like you say, a small gun is better than no gun
jessyrules1000 2 months ago
@1faSStchevy Well to be fair, he said it was on "The lower rung of the ladder for knock down power". That is a valid statement because he is identifying it as the low end of power in comparisons to larger calibers. It would be different if he said something like "The .25 and .32 offer substantial knock down power." But at the end of the day, a bullet is a bullet, and I don't want to be hit by any of them.

@Videopwnd i'm pretty sure a .32 caliber will go through someone jus because its small doesnt mean it wont do damage it'll usually hold less ammo the other guns but then again look at a single and double barrel shotgun they only hold 1 and 2 shells but people seem to stop when u point it at em lol
flameboyab 8 months ago
@flameboyab velcity is better then mass eg. small projectail going very high speed will have more enengy then a heavy projectil going half the speed of the high speed small projectil !
or 90g 9mm more enengy then a 220g .45 acp
hardman476 8 months ago
@hardman476 i dont quite understand wat that all means because i dont kno all those stats bout guns but all i kno is u only gotta be in a shotguns range for it to rip u apart and u dont have to kil someone with a pocket pistol when u could jus shot em a few times make it hurt and go on with ur day haha
flameboyab 8 months ago
@hardman476 yeah thats true but the 9mm will punch a small self-cauderizing wound and the .45 ACP will go through the vest expand and literally knock them on the floor. I have personal Experience. I've been shot with a 9mm, and have seen the affect of a human being struck by a .45 ACP cartridge. I personally go with the size and weight of the .45 with a slightly hotter load.

What a DICK!
spikey614 1 year ago
Nothing smaller than 9mm is what I will trust my life on in self defense. Wrong feeling of safety when you carrying the gun that will not protect you does more harm that good.
yuowatcher 1 year ago
I carry a 9mm Beretta 92FS with hollow points I wouldn't go smaller than a 9mm. I don't go out of my way to conceal it and no one has ever said a thing to me about it. Last I knew we have no law stating anything wrong with imprinting on clothing here in Kansas but I don't really keep up on any new stuff. Many people I know carry without a permit. I usually wear a vest on warmer days to cover it eventually I will by a smaller 9mm.
wolf3001 1 year ago

The Bobcat in .22lr hits harder than the .25
SuperSneakySteve 1 year ago
Mod 21 is better in .22lr. 950 Jetfire is THE .25acp if you are gonna carry a little mousegun. Any gun can be lethal. Yes, .380 or 9mm and up is best for SD, but not everyone can carry a Desert Eagle everywhere. I carry a LCP on the bicycle and a M&P or .357 elsewhere.
mrmott44 1 year ago
@mrmott44 Agreed, but when it's out of these mousegun barrels, caliber becomes less relevant. For example, the Kel-Tec P32 and the Kel-Tec P3AT, one is .32, one is .380, both end up only producing about 200 joules of energy because of the short barrels. In longer barrels, .380 picks up a lot more velocity while .32 still stays fairly weak.
I have a P32 now because the recoil is almost nonexistent and it holds one more round than the P3AT or Ruger LCP, also has a last round slide lock function.

TheBgcheez 1 year ago
@TheBgcheez Sometimes it is just not practical or possible to carry a .45 and a smaller gun is better than no gun at all. Carry what you feel comfortable carrying. Be safe.
anslowp1 1 year ago
@anslowp1 why isn't it practical to carry a .45 all the time the majority if not all the states that have Concealed carry also allow Open Carry. So just Open Carry.
armypenguin 1 year ago
@armypenguin .357 has more penetration (way more) and more energy than either a .45acp or .49s&w. Even in a 2-3" barrel 1460fps of .357 sure beats 950fps with a 45. A j-frame .357 is easily concealed in a pocket (only 5 shots though)
mrmott44 1 year ago
@mrmott44 Penetration yes but energy depends on what your talking about are we talking about joules on impact? or fps muzzle velocity? because joules on impact I can't guarentee you but i'm pretty sure that a .45 has more joules on impact and idk aboutt .40 I would assume its probably about equal to the .357. Muzzle velocity yes the .357 wins for certain.
armypenguin 1 year ago
@armypenguin In my state (SC) open carry is not legal, so concealed is the only option if you are not a LEO. On very hot, humid days during the summer here in SC, concealing a .45 can be really difficult if you want to wear just shorts and a t-shirt.
anslowp1 1 year ago
@anslowp1 Well just have a BIG ASS bulge if they don't want to allow oc thats there fault. Yeah that sucks definately. Michigan has some bs knife laws some idiot law makers but we got OC and I take advantage of that whenever I leave my house when going to areas that its allowed.
armypenguin 1 year ago
@armypenguin I don't think you have a grasp on Concealed Carry laws, esp. SC's. "Concealed means CONCEALED." A bulge, or 'print' as it's often called, that is obviously a firearm, visible to others, can be considered no longer 'concealed' and can get you in trouble. This can range from a warning from a cool LEO to a misdemeanor charge/conviction and a loss of one's CWP. It's what many of us are stuck with, and therefore a variety of guns is helpful.
anslowp1 1 year ago
@anslowp1 I think that would be an interesting gun case because it can't be seen you have no clue whats there it could be a something theres no way to tell.
armypenguin 1 year ago
@armypenguin I'm not sure if there have been any cases successfully prosecuted for 'printing' in SC, but the CWP instructors make a HUGE deal of it. Better safe than sorry (and in jail). One can get creative with carry methods, holsters, and clothing styles to hide a large frame auto, but sometimes (ie at work) that is not a possibility, so a smaller gun fits the bill. A 'mousegun' in your pocket when needed is more powerful than the .45 in the safe....
anslowp1 1 year ago
@anslowp1 Well hell even in Michigan the majority of CWP instructors throw bitch fits about OC idk maybe because they think it takes away from their profits? Yeah you can always get creative and your right a mousegun in the pocket beats a .45 in the safe. BTW it doesn't take away from profits you still need to have CWP to carry in alot of places that you would want to carry in.
My problem is i'm only 18 so I can't get a CWP yet bunch of BULLSHIT.

7pt62manNW 1 year ago
@7pt62manNW
When it comes to "mouseguns", proponents of them aren't really comparing them to the stopping power or intimidation factor of, say, your .357 magnum. It's obvious which one is the winner there. They are comparing them to the stopping power of no gun at all.
These are for people who would otherwise leave their gun at home due to large size or weight.
diggingforgold 1 year ago 2
@diggingforgold I've heard this bogus argument for decades. It simply does not work, especially when compact, quality 9MMs are available. It's simple lazyness, ignorance and/or incompetence that causes a person to pack a mousegun as a primary
7pt62manNW 1 year ago
@7pt62manNW

Brand new is always best because you have warranties and all that.
chris77jay77 9 months ago
@gretz11111

In terms of what I'd choose, I'd probably put my faith in what the police use. Like an Ithica 37, Remington 870... something 12-gauge along the lines of that. If you get a gun, ur usually best going with what police use. Most of the time, they pick their weapons based upon how reliable they are in addition to being a little less lethal, which is why they have 9mms now, instead of .357s and .45s.
hogger129 2 years ago
Don't you have to be 21 to buy any kind of a firearm? I thought that was the way it always was. It may have been 18. But this is completely silly and it's the reason liberals try to deny gun rights. That's why we do mandatory background checks. And it's why we need to arm citizens. Had other ppl in the school been armed, it may have saved lives.
hogger129 2 years ago
No, in most states, the legal age for long guns (rifles and shotguns) is 18. In most states, you have to be 21 in order to buy a handgun. The federal government regulates gun sales from an FFL. However, some states made it legal for 18 year olds to buy pistols from a private sale (not a gun store owner).
mikekazik1 2 years ago
Yeah well that's how most people that shouldn't have any guns get them. Through a private seller. Whether it's a garage sale or on the black market. The only check that gets done on them is the one to see if they have the right cash. I don't like buying privately. I buy all my guns new from a licensed dealer so I'm sure I'm not doing anything illegal, but also because I have nothing to hide. I'm a law-abiding citizen so idc if they run a background check on me. I prefer them doing that to all.
hogger129 2 years ago
Another reason I hate buying used guns or guns that aren't brand new is you never know how well the last owner maintained them.

I would recommend that everyone else does too.
aguyinpostfalls 2 years ago
That still won't cut it. I would still want to go with a 9mm. What happens if a dog with rabies tries to attack you? You would need to fire one shot from a decent caliber pistol. 9mm has light recoil and pretty good stopping power. IMO, that is the reason why it is a good choice for a carry gun. Those small caliber arms are too small to handle and the caliber is just too weak.
mikekazik1 2 years ago
My dad has a little .22 rifle. It's okay. It's good for shooting rabbits and small game, but we have coyotes around here and a .22 won't cut it when one attacks you unless you get a good headshot. I would still not feel safe even with a 9mm in most situations. I'd prefer a shotgun or else I'd go with a .40 or bigger. My preferred handgun is the 1911 .45. It depends though. A 9mm with good hollowpoints is pretty effective for self defense.
hogger129 2 years ago
im pretty sure coyotes dont attack humans

I am noticing less and less places are carrying .45 ACP ammo which my 1911 uses, and it's getting more expensive where you can still find it. 9mm is common, good accuracy, and like you said, 9mm pistols have low recoil, there are good reliable 9mm pistols like the 92FS or the Glock 17 or SIG 226. I'd even say the Walther P99 is a good CCW. 'Spy guns' are always good conceal carry and the P99 is available in 9mm.

Lol, I know that "spy guns" are fun to shoot, but there are many good, concealable guns out there that are not "spy guns".

agreed... which is why my ideal ccw is a 1911 .45, not a walther. even if i carried a walther, i'd want a ppk, not a p99 as a ppk is easier to conceal, but the ppk's largets caliber is .380. not as powerful as a .45acp or 9mm.

where are you from? where i live theres to much 45 rounds laying around people cant afford to shoot them...
MoRRisoNRisiN 2 years ago
Well yeah you can still buy it. I'm just saying it's getting more expensive to buy it in large quantities. It's a better deal when you buy the thousand round cans for like a couple hundred bucks than it is to pay for like a box of 20.

What are the requirments to own a gun in the US. Also how mutch does the gun and ammo cost?

Well as for handguns, I think most places require you to be 18. Lots of places won't sell to anyone under 21. And I think the legal age to buy them might actually be 21. You have to have a clean criminal record. No felonies. Idk what they do if you have misdemeanors. I don't think it can be anything criminal. You have to be metally stable. Handguns have a waiting period for a Federal Background Check. Not sure how long that is. I don't think they have that check on long guns.

u have 2 b 21 n the background check takes about 10min 4 it 2 go thru
