hmm well try going to a relaxed place where no one but you and nature are around and play the song and concentrate hard on the peace of your music and itll fill your soul dogg and the vid is loud cuz is audio enhanced they usualy have hidden mics at local places but if you listen to a normal flute jus play it cuz a normal flute is kinda low but it dont materr jus play it :)

@juroku9 If I blow it harder then I will get higher notes, but still the volume is low. If I play it inside a 3x8 room with someone singing, I can't hear its sound.

i've searched wikipedia and it says the xiao is the vertical one and the di zi is the horizontal one. di zi is aka heng di. hths:)

@indigocrystalful yes it is and if you're looking for an instrument to start of I'd recommend a recorder the dizi to start your air off and practice off easy songs first, then you can get the hand of the xiao later on.....-Anthony

It's probably a good idea to get some lessons if you don't have any musical background (actually, either way, lessons are good for you). I don't know about xiao, but I heard that guzheng is "easy" to learn.

Easy or not, I think you should just go for the instrument you like most. : ) It may motivate you to learn and practice more.
