I think every girl should see this, at my age. and I'm fifteen. It teaches some beautiful lessons of life for every girl. It really helped me get through a lot... really.
Everyone's performances were fantastic...I'm 16, and I can really relate to this, teens today still face the same problems. I'm also a huge Jodie Foster fan now, and I have pretty intense respect for Cherie's ability to portray Annie so well. <3
I saw this movie in the theater, taped the newspaper ad to my bedroom wall, and drove my Mom up the wall watching it dozens of times on HBO. It was the cool rebellious movie for teens at the time.
This movie represents my life in the late 1970's ...escaping disfunctional parents in a time where there was no where and no one to turn to except the streets. Kids have help now and its about time!! Its amazing how I made it to the 80's and not destroyed or worse like so many of my peers back then!! Good movie!! I think its time they revived the movie "Foxes" with Dekoda Fanning staring !!
The best thing of this movie at the time of its release was Donna Summer's song "On the Radio". Apart from that, the film went largely ignored by audiences.
This is what the 80s were like for me and my memories, it doesn't get much more than this movie, the coke can styles, the hair styles, the skateboards with the huge wheels, the Scott Baio hair style etc. People nowadays make the 80s out to be cheesy with lame colours, dancy music etc. but this is what they 80s (early up till 85 or so anyway) were really like: fuzzy, cool rock and roll music on the radio, KISS was IT, drinking, drugs, sex, all that you see here. My fav time period.
@faffaflunkie wow, that's funny. hmm let me see, because it was made in the early 80s?? lolol maybe get some glasses and read my first post that basically said this is what the early 80s were like, I wasn't even talking about when it was made, but it was in the early 80s regardless....I assume you were not there. are you this anal about everything or just tiny little details that you cannot let go of...lol
@faffaflunkie lol dude don't need to get insulting and upset. The persons are not real (it's a movie) BUT it is a good representation of how kids and society were like in the late 70s and early 80s. and btw, just say no didn't work out too well... You can argue all day with yourself here, I'm going on to the next movie, lol. Just tryin to have some fun on youtube here, it's not to be taken so seriously. Have a nice day.
@faffaflunkie dumbass, the late 70s lifestyle lasted well through the early 80s. You are the one mathmatically challenged, 1980 doesnt rep the 70s at all.
@Matlike1 This was really did capture the time very well. Sad how young people nowadays, have lame people to look to for inspiration for the real truth about life. And this one did. Good movie from start to end. A real slice of American life of early 80's life. I thank God, I was there.
@Matlike1 this is how i imagine the eighties when people talk about it. For the 80s themed dance at my school, everyone dressed in the neon leggings and baggy sweatshirts... i wore a leather jacket and went as Joan freaking Jett =)
@LilBpresents1 I really don't want to spoil the movie for those who haven't seen it yet. Her (Cherie Currie's) death at the hands of what could only be described as "L.A. Archtypes" is a shocker. Suffice it to say it is a Jodie Foster movie and if you can find it at a discount (perhaps at "99¢ only" or "Fry's") it is worthwhile.
loved this movie! How ironic that Cherie Currie's life almost mimics the one in this movie. Except she lived to tell her story in "The Runaways" movie.
There were scenes shown in the trailer that were not in the movie itself. Looked like deleted scenes...well, at least some of them. I wish there was an extended version of this.

@Matlike1 Hey genius, by the 1980's we already had Ronald Reagan and "just say no". The persons and events depicted in the film were from the 1970's.
