I 've since come across a lesson from totally guitars and over the last week and am having a blast with it. Pretty much have nailed it but would love some variations on it in order to spruce it up even more. If you ever get around to it that would be awesome. Take care.
@HenfieldWill Absolutely an awesome take on this song. I've been looking high and low for a decent tab on this song and saw you playing. Blown away. If you don't have a tab to offer or sell then would you know where I might find one elsewhere thats half decent. Hope your still around.
great playing! Hey ive been thinking about getting this martin and I have a question, is the action low on this guitar? since I see it has no truss rod
I like this a lot. Are the fingerings all yours? I notice you play most of it in 5th. position and beyond on parts where most other guitarists on YT who have covered this play in 2nd. and first. Really excellent playing.
Apologies for having overlooked this question for 4 months! Yes - the fingerings are all mine, as are all the pieces I play on YouTube. I tend to use my ears rather than anything else! :-)
I have the same guitar and love it. I play it only in acoustic. Which string do you recommend? Maybe you did try several different sets , I have it since two months and use the original ones (Martin SP 4100 Phospore Bronze ) .
Hi - thanks for the comments. I stopped using Martin strings as my fingers made them dull. I changed to Elixir coated bronze (.012) but am now using D'Addario EXP .012 coated strings - they stay brighter longer! :-)
Ok thanks for the advice and your very fast response Will. I was also using D'Addario EXP on my previous guitar a Simon & Patrick SP6 , but was not sure it could fit this one. Will certainly try them.
Excellent job my friend. Alvin Lee was also a big fan of Big Bill's and you can here the influence on the first Ten Years After album. Enjoyed listening to your version, thanks for adding it.
Hi. Very nice playing but horrible tone. It doesn't even sound like a guitar. It sounds like electronic mice singing or something. Sort out the tone and it will sound awesome.
Fair comment! Using the Mac Book and Garageband to record stuff is quick and easy but - as you say - loses some tone (sounds better through 'phones). When I get the time, I shall mic the guitar up rather than use the built-in pickups. The Martin has a wonderful acoustic tone! Cheers, Will
Thanks for the comment - all by ears, I never use tab. Yes, I do sing, but have just really concentrated on the guitar playing in the videos (it's also easier to record straight into my Mac Book). But I'll surprise you all one day! Will

@wamb2000 If I get time (famous last words!) I might try and work some tab up for my version. Can't promise soon but I'll try and fit it in. :-)

i just had this guitar and it's certainly my first...
thanks much

The rod is adjusted from inside the sound hole. :-)

It certainly does have a truss rod - you just can't see it! The action can be as low or as high as you want it. :-)

Don't mind me asking you a couple more questions lol :]
Does the non-binding make the guitar any weaker or fragile?
and can I install a pickguard for some hard strumming?
thanks man!

The guitar is as solid as a rock. It's certainly porrible to have a pickguard glued - I'm thinking of getting a clear one put on it.

No - never heard DG's version - and I know most of his work. I'll check it out. :-)

Great !! I like your version closer than the big bill's one ! (I only can play the clapton's version.)
Did you learn this song by ears or do you have a tab ?
Don't you want to sing ? ;-)
