  • We're comin out of a recession and so he needs to feed his children... he was the skiing instructor! He was just about to meet him! :(

  • FAKE

  • The bear disappeared from a circus or a zoo or what ever, if he was really at the Holmenkollen Definitely no polar bears live in Oslo in wildlife. So the vid is a fake. But a funny fake , nevertheless.

  • @tyl0r900 No polar bears in Holmenkollen, yes, in Svalbard there is. But, beeing a Norwegian i acculy forgot Svalbarg beeing a part of Norway.. hehe.

  • @MrSvealf Googling that would have been so much more easier than looking like a moron.

  • meh.. garbage

  • The Bear wants trophy too!!!

  • faker than my date with rihanna last night

  • MONSTER FAKE

  • capital fake... so its FAKE.

  • 98 guys are polar bears

  • polar bear is whiter than snow... that's odd...

  • @vargasenator Yeah, they were hoping people weren't observant. The bears reaction wasn't fitting either, they tried to hide it with camera shake.

  • that looks like the coca cola bear haha

  • 26 seconds lost..

  • TOTAL FAKE you can see all the way

  • In addition to the video-editing details people are pointing out, let's not forget the tidbit that polar bears don't actually live in Oslo, Norway. Nor anywhere on mainland Norway for that matter (only in Svalbard, very far away from the mainland of Norway). They never have lived there.

  • @RainForestTreks haha i know thats what ive been telling people

  • lol people think its real, you just need to know about videos FX and image editing and the light doesnt match

  • SUPER FAKE

  • This is what happens when you dress like a Coca-Cola bottle while skiing

  • @some1iknow1 hahahah!

  • Fake bear is to quit.

compare to other polar videos this as some good looking fur.

  • Fake bear is to quit.

  • YAHOOOOOOO!

  • puto el ultimo !

  • Fake, fake fake. Its a superimposed bear, much like the way they superimpose someone's face on another person's body.

  • ur an idiot if u think this is real

  • Wow. Even thought the bear was obviously in the skier's line of vision the whole time, the skier and the cameraman only noticed it when the camera panned over to it.

Doesn't that only happen in cartoons? Hell, I half expected the skier to say "That's all, folks!" at the end.

  • Damn global warming!

  • Maybe scaped from the zoo! xD

  • and how he notices it right at the it comes into view of the camera

  • It is real. If it's fake, how did they get the fake bear to move. You can see his feet moving and his head turn.

  • @allenbosox

The Bear is real, but he wasn't actually there. Its called Composite and Index. Its where you take something and add it to something else to make it seem like its actually there. The bear wasn't there at that actual time. He probably wasn't even there at all. The Bear is most likely from another video, and was placed in this video with the Composite and Index technique to make it seem as tho he was there. Plus there are things about it that more than suggest its fake and a C&P

  • Besides all the tons of evidence, the bear never looked at the man. It looked a little more to the left but never gave him a direct look, like it was looking somewhere else. It's a good video fooling TONS of people, but the bear looks totally out of place. It's clearly from another video or altogether a fake bear. However, I know some ppl just love to believe in anything and love going against the majority belief JUST to stand out... so ppl will continue to choose to be blind. Have fun. :)

  • LOL! I'd turn around just as quick as that dude did too! lmao

  • I would say its real because if you look at the shadowing at .20 its perfect and if it was fake that is some pretty good lay over editing in my opinion.

  • I captured a SCREEN SHOT when the camera is turning away and the bear is NOT THERE!!! PM if you want to see it...

  • @Emety03 Of course the bear's no there when the camera turns away. That's because the camera is TURNED AWAY. Duh

  • @allenbosox You just had to comment huh? One of those? Ok JACKASS, you have not seen the screen capture, the camera is still pointing to where the bear WOULD be, not like I took a screen shot of the ground! DUUUHHHH

  • Why would someone make a fake video of a polar bear scaring a skier...

man are some of you stupid or what.

  • @deadsheepinwoods You're pretty dense actually. Why does ANYBODY make fake videos?!?! There's fake UFO videos, fake Bigfoot videos fake stuff everywhere!!! You new to the internet or something??? Some ppl just do it to show off how impressive their editing skills are, or for laughs.

  • @deadsheepinwoods

No....apparently you are the one that is stupid. First of all, fake videos are made of even the most mundane things. Secondly, as another person has already stated, at a place like this, other ppl would have already seen teh Bear and an alarm woudl have gone off to alert ppl of the Bear

Lastly, someone even pointed out that there is a person behind the Bear. So what? That person is just there oblivious to a Bear passing him straight? So pls ask yourself now if u are stupid

  • I haven't read all the comments but has anyone pointed out the obvious yet? Pause video at 10 seconds and there is a man standing right there beside a yellow vehicle of some sort. Doubt he would be there with a polar bear in front of him. Just saying lol.

  • Everyone here is just bandwagoning on fake because you can talk out of your ass on the internet. Looks real to me. Fuck all of you.

  • @Nick562318 It's bandwagoning to disbelieve a video that has plenty of evidence of it being fake?? No, the bandwagon is those saying it's real just because everybody else can tell it's a fake. The bandwagon is believing in something not because you really believe in it but because nobody else is. And saying fuck all of you is just inappropriate and unnecessary.

  • FUCK THE POLAR BEAR.....i wana know wats up with that bridge

  • Total bs ! .. but v creative.

  • Agreed with jm2557. I work with video and have to do color correction all the time. The bear is a blue-ish hue and the snow is yellow/orange. Dead giveaway, icecubemedia, sorry...but nice try.

  • @333Spiral All shadow has a blue hue to it

  • @nninflames19 Play the video, pause it. Replay. The colors are unnatural, the bear does not match the foreground or the background. Shaky video is also used as a way to mask composite video and effects. I have been a professional color corrector, but hey, believe what you want ...I think I see Santa Claus just over the hill too :)

  • @333Spiral The bear does not match the foreground or background? Was he supposed to dress to more closely match his surroundings?

  • @allenbosox *lol* Did you see where I said "the colors".... ok you guys, have a nice day :) - you've gotta love youtube!

  • the lighting is really fake, the snow should have some light reflection on the polar bear, and the natural light from the sun

  • Of course its fake...if you're going to make a fake video with a polar bear, it should be drinking a bottle of coke.

  • Despite all the ridiculous comments, it is well done. The sharpness looks a little different which makes me think it superimposed. But more so even is the instant reaction. I think it would be so unexpected that for a moment you would not really know what to do. And the camera follows the skier? I would think either it would stay on the bear or the camera person would haul ass.

  • I'll tell you why it's not real in the simplest terms. Because if a polar walked onto a major skiing training area, witnesses would have already spotted it, and the alarm would be going off, so to speak, way before it got this close to unsuspecting people. The video would be the camera man hearing "there's a polar bear" then he'd run up and zoom at it half a kilometer away, eventually security and animal removal people would be there (about 4 minutes or less). The bear would not go unnoticed

  • FAke and FUCKING GAY!!!!!!!!!! why do people even try this bullshit. We all know what real looks like. Real looks gross and depressing, and yet, it's addictive.

  • there is no shadow...

  • Fake and gay. That is the Coke polar bear.

  • I could tell it was fake when it got distorted at the beginning and even the bear looks fake.

  • bear's fur is whiter than the snow... that wouldn't be the case in the wild. pbears fur is yellowish next to true snow color. the snow in this video is yellow tinted in the sunlight, so I would expect the fur to carry that color tint as well. however, the bear's fur is blueish tinted in the direct sunlight. The highlight color gave it away, but great work otherwise...

  • @jm2557 I noticed that too, I just didn't know how to describe it I guess.

  • I'm not sure if there actually is a person there but the bear looks soooooo fake....

  • fake and gay

  • Whether or not it's real, what the big deal? On this planet (earth), we have both Skiers and Polar Bears. I fail the see the point in getting excited over the coincidental encounter between the two.

In my opinion, however, this is fake. The screen-tear at 00:10 is just a little too 1995; nowadays you RARELY screen tearing is home videos.

  • This is real, just look at the bears reaction. Also if that is a person standing behind the fence they have the roundest head...wait maybe it's Charlie Brown. Not a person in my opinion.

  • Hahahaha

Polar bears are only found one place in Norway, on the island of Spitsbergen. Far above the polar circle.

This is filmed in Oslo, far away from any polar bears.

  • Is that the bear that drinks coca cola? like in those commercials.

  • Oh and why would he be filming it? Obviously to document his adventure in Holmenkollen. That one's obvious. I shouldn't have even said that to you pitiful common-senseless people.

  • @tjrludicke I with you, that reaction looks normal to me, so I say it's possible. Only thing is that guy that says polar bears aren't indigenous to this area kinda makes me wonder. I don't know but It would definitely scare me to death!

  • people's reasoning for why the video is fake don't make sense....not a natural reaction? My first reaction when encountering a bear would be to turn around and go back the way I came from without screaming and yelling,,, lack of explicatives in his reaction? Have you been cross country skiing before? You don't exactly have the extra lung capacity while skiing to spend on yelling and cussing

  • ALSO. Some people argue that the bear has a glowing aura around him meaning he was edited in. Three points:

    1) Editing does not cause glowing.

    2) The dusk's sunlight produces the glow.

    3) The polar bear's clear fur (yes it is clear, google it) highlights the glow.

Also, people argue that the bear has no shadow. I shouldn't even have to explain that. Anyone should know that the shadow goes in the same direction as anything else in the footage.

  • Also, his reaction comes naturally with demographics. If one was an American(as most of you are) that one person would be terrified as he has never probably seen a natural polar bear. However, the skier is most likely a local and most likely has seen many polar bears in his lifetime. His reaction also matches well with his demographics because it is common knowledge to calmly get away from a polar bear or any other type of predator, not to scream and run away(THEN the bear would have chased him)

  • That is funny! And cool! lol

  • Its real.

The bears up there aren't viscous due to the many people around them. The bears eventually become "tame" and wonder around, and not satisfied with killing or attacking a human. If the bear was a grizzly, the man would have been dead before the video started.

Also the person in just an illusion. Think of the "Munchkin Effect" from Oz, or the Face on Mars. We WANT to see a human there because it is natural for us to see features distinguishable on humans. That "human" is our imagination

  • It's in SE Noway, too far south for a wild polar bear

  • The ski jump is located near Oslo, in SE Norway. I doubt polar bears range that far south, even in winter.

  • The bear would have heard him and the camera man and ambushed them to eat them instead of just wandering into the track.

  • thumbs up if yahoo brought you here

  • its fake due to the fact that the bear didn't even look at the guy let alone do what comes naturaly to predators, chase. it is a good vid though

  • its fake but the editting of the video was awesome...nice edit =D

  • fake

  • Fake , the bear has a "glow" about him that makes me think it's a computer effect.

  • Well people were watching this, look at the shadow of another person recording at 0:11 and also looks like there is someone behind on a forklift or something or the sort....possibly the bear came out of nowhere...it's possible it's real...

  • FAKE.

  • looks real to me, either way it's a cool video.

  • April fools day, this should have been posted April 1st

  • I like how the cameras view goes to the sky just as the bear turns his head away.....Think the animal would look away with commotion going on that near?

  • Fake - Why would you record this?

  • Why didn't the guy keep filming?? The guy who was taping didn't even run afterwards? The guy who was skiing AUTOMATICALLY say the polar bear? The bear was in his side view. oh well!

  • its just a big dog ppl =)

  • Looks incredibly fake

  • of course its fake.. the reaction of the skiier is all wrong..if you're gona make a fake video at least put some effort into it. not to mention there's a person standing right behind the bear...what a boring video.

  • Yahoo trying to suggest this is real is about 6 days late...April Fool's Day was last week guys!

  • @cmkelso Also, the shadows cast by the bear don't match those cast by the skier. It is a pretty good fake though. The masking of the bear onto the background and the skier onto the bear were well done.

  • hahahahahaaha, laughed my ass off

  • Faaaaaaaaaake

  • It's sad how a simple video made for fun gets infested by people crying fake as if anyone actually believes polar bears live that far south XP

  • If you think this is real you need to get your retard eyes checked.

  • Viral marketing for Swix? /shrug

  • How stupid does yahoo think we are

  • @nhlgoalie2003 ; if you read the comments on their news stories I think it gives them plenty of proof that a whole lot of us are stupid, haha

  • FAKE!!!!

  • I can't even understand how this clip would be considered anything but fake... it looks terrible.

  • They guy standing behind the polar bear doesnt seem to fazed...

  • Fast food for polar bears.

  • lmao obvious fake.

  • OMG SO REAL! ....not

  • its probably a coke commercial...

  • The bear and skier are real. The Oslo shots are real.

    However the viewers are fake.

    :) I'm not really here. I'm superimposed. :D

  • Comment removed

  • who cares whether it's fake or not?

    it's still funny as hell!

  • the bear does look in his direction but there is the possibility that the bear was put into the video.

  • obviously fake.. i can detect camera effects from a mile away

even the frame skip at 0:09 is fake

  • Special effects glitch at 0:11. Watch the snow below the orange fence.

  • @spacekid1999 Sorry, not orange, but a fence nonetheless

  • for starters the polar bear would've chased, killed & eaten the skiier...and for SURE the camera guy - the only land predator that naturally views humans as food.

Also...Polar bears typically depend on pack ice & seal consumption for their livelyhood. it's HIGHLY unlikely one would be so far inland & at altitude.

  • fake

  • Fast food

  • yeah it's a guy in a stocking cap with a hoodie on under a jacket that's behind the "bear"

besides..if I saw a polar bear I wouldn't take the 3 more full strides in his direction after looking at him that this guy did

chances are the guy in the hoodie is his bookie and he's late paying his bill

  • So fake

  • The polar bear must have shot out of the ass of the guy standing behind it!

  • FAKE!

  • so fake it's not even a question

  • That's so fake... why is there a person on the other side of the barrier... right by the bear?!

  • Nobody made a noise. If you run into a bear in the wild, you'll make SOME kind of surprised noise. Everybody does when they're surprised by something. The cameraman doesn't even mutter. They both just silently decide to run? The bear doesn't look like it belongs there. Clearly edited. The bear gave a sideways glance than a "oh snap a person! Let me run" glance, not a full on stare. There's a PERSON right behind the bear! It's a HUMAN HEAD with a hat, hoodie and coat!! Just standing there!!

  • @QBFOJustin no not necessarily with the noise making, If your running around a corner and run into a man with a gun, in an attempt not to startle or unessicarily alert him, you would run away silently.

  • the guy they said that is a man with winter hat is not a human!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its just a machinery or something!

  • @cityviller LMAO. It's a man with a hoody and a coat on are you blind??? LOL

  • @QBFOJustin DUH!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY IS HE STANDING THERE LIKE A STATUE WITH A BEAR NEAR HIm?!!!!!!!!!

  • @cityviller Gee. I dunno... I guess you're right. It's not a man, it's a piece of machinery wearing clothes... Oh wait, I know why he's standing there! BECAUSE IT'S A FAKE!!!

  • @QBFOJustin YAH FAKE!

  • Seems fake. Polar bear is too bright and its never in focus, and yeah, they shouldve kept filming it for evidence. I know polar bears are white, but unless this one just came from a shampooing at the local vet, it should be a little dingy and maybe dirty on the underside, a yellowish tinge. This one looks almost blue.

  • @tyronebiggums450 the color of the bear is because of the sun reflecting off the snow. You ever been skiiing? Thats not uncommon. Yes the polar is in focus in the slow mo replay. Look at 0:20-0:21
