  • The first time i saw this version of High Hopes, was the time i cried the most in all my life. I cried uncontrollably to the point of ridiculous. Why was I crying? I didn't know why at the time and i still don't. Or maybe I do, but i just want to believe it's the power of the best and most moving band in the world: Pink Floyd.

Thank you Gilmour, Thank you Rick (RIP) and thank you PINK FLOYD.

  • after watching this i have nothing interesting to say. Just the urge to watch this over and over.

  • I truly believe that Gilmour is not from this planet. He is from a planet that people are better and the thrill of music never goes away. Some people call that planet "Heaven".

  • i dislike? was the barret i wonder

  • ogarnij temat, uszanuj widza i wrzuć to wszystko raz jeszcze w jakości HQ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

  • 240p. we meet again

  • i say nothing. its not a point comment sa bryliant song

  • Simplesmente lindo. Esse solo ecoa sentimento.

    Gilmour vc é demais!

  • Gilmour, please, tell me that you are immortal!! Music need you forever!

  • There are no words to discribe the last 2 minutes of this video. What Gilmour does with the acoustic is just magic.

  • Gilmour..Thanks for Everything...Now Our Soul Will Rest Peacefully..

  • You must change the title of the video to: God Live In Gdansk

  • Excellent. Simply excellent. One of my guitar heroes.

  • its been more then magical i've seen it,and i simply went to heaven. I love you soooooooooo much David!

  • Gilmour God of psychedelic Rock!! <3

  • cant get much better than this!

  • someone have tabs to this last solo on acoustic guitar ?

  • David Gilmour is one of the greatest guitar players and artists ever. He lives in a Music Olympus, home of Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, BB King, Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) …

  • 1 person had their high hopes dashed!

  • His name is Mr. David Jon Gilmour and he just kicked ass!

  • Simply genius.

  • One word : shiver

  • 9:03 - 9:10 - this harmony is just so simple and at the same time it so godlike... I love David for his gift, he has never ever run for speed, technique or the notes, he was using them where the music had a need in them no more and no less. God bless you, David, for all the joy you've given to us!

  • he's a ginius, i just bought the box on LP!! (while i have him already on cd) :-p

    INcredible

  • I just watched this concert for the first time tonight and all I can say is I will definitely be buying it on DVD. Holy shit. I have been a Floyd fan for 20+ years and can't believe I have never seen this...where the hell have I been?

  • Завораживает

  • This may be the first song that ever made me cry...

    It's just beautiful.

  • Defintley Gilmour-led Floyds best in my opinion.

  • Some songs are written for a purpose, protest, love, whatever. However some are written and preformed to burn a persons mind forever. This is among many of Floydgenius but close to the top!

  • Electric Steel Pedal guitar...awesome

  • This song is a masterpiece by itself. That guitar bit at the end takes it to a level above masterpiece.

  • Genius pure genius

  • He is... there is no word to describe David Gilmour....

  • awesome !!

  • Kirie (Kyriakos Angelopoulos, Facebook friend) opened my appetite with sounds of greatest guitar masters. I did some research on my YouTube account and found one of the greatest guitar pieces: High Hopes, by Pink Floyd and its face and sound: David Gilour. I got the DVD of that extraordinary concert in Gdansk, Poland, 2006. Even Lech Walesa appears in that DVD (openly claimed he was no longer a man … that is, capable of conceiving kids … like the 8 kids David Gilmore fathered …)

  • that little guitar that gilmour plays slide on, makes me grab the music outta the speakers and rub it all over my body,,,it is just sooooo good,i cant get enough.. i sure hope i can see this man live again someday

  • last part.... magic

  • amazing

  • es muy dificil de calificar esta cancion, impresionante, espectacular, increible, maravillosa, son adjetivos que apenas se acercan... a lo que quiero expresar....

  • I see Richard Wright... The greatest of the greatest!

  • eslo mejor q escuchado en mi vida....

  • just amazing...there`s no other one like gilmour

  • Esto es EXCELENCIA PURA..... no hay otro calificativo.

  • mmmmmmmn. . High Hopes is structured soooooo well.

  • Can someone tell me the reaql meaning behind this song? is this about ROGER or about SYD?> or BOTH?>

  • @DavelovesRealMusic hmmm I don't think it is as focused as that, I think it is a song about the changes in perspective/beliefs we undergo as we all grow up.

  • @Fraeg That is the songs obvious message. But during this period..Giilmour had been writing in CODE (EXAMPLE; TEH GREAT PUBLIUS) as well as using Binary Code on the tour during the song "Keep talking". Further--if you watch the music video for the song--the Three men (A reference to there only being "3" in The Floyd at that time) are pulling a STATUE--the STATUE--looks a bit like SYD and a little bit MORE like ROGER..I am sure it was meant to be ONE or both of them..thought someone might know.

  • @DavelovesRealMusic This song was written about SYD. Roger really thought Syd's eyes looked like little black holes. Syd was THE seeer of visions, and nobody is as clear minded as he was.

  • @Bassjunkie1985 It's actually entirely about David's childhood and life in Cambridge

  • @alijamali7 Davd's life in Cambridge may have inspired the song but ultimately it's about the transition from child to adult.

  • @FlaGuy66 Whatever it is; it's a masterpiece.

  • @alijamali7 Well said, this was the last song written for the Division Bell album. It is the last song written by David Gilmour for Pink Floyd. This is a perfect song to close the book on a brilliant band.

  • @FlaGuy66 agree

  • Absolutely beautiful............Gilmour just knows how to sing with a guitar, whether it's in his lap or in his hands.

  • the most beautiful version of high hopes. the acoustic part in the end sends a chill down the spine

  • Its not just the guitar solos - in which David is definitely the best.

Its not just the songs - which are perhaps the best ever written.

Its not just the way David uniquely manages to blend the songs and his solos with a massive orchestra.

Its THE MUSICAL GENIUS of David which manages to blend all these things into perhaps the most fulfilling musical experiences ever.

  • What a beautiful solo at the end of the song. This is by far my favorite version of the song

  • szkoda ze mnie nie bylo ;[

  • MONSTER !!!!!!!!! THE BEST EVER !!!!

  • breaks my heart-so sad

  • Wow... I couldn't take my eyes off the screen when I started to watch this.

  • It's a shame it got so few viewers. People now days don't appreciate extraordinary music like Pink Floyd, and David. I want this played on my funeral, although I only have 23 years, my choice is for a lifetime.

  • This concert WAS magical INDEED!!!!!!!!! I couldn't stop crying. Every single tune struck my soul with something vivid yet subtle. I grew up on these tracks so hearing all of them live [except these from "On An Island" for in 2006 that was kind of fresh album], was like personal meeting with a parent whose voice was available only on a tape played all of the childhood days.

Extraordinary experience!! One of the kind!

  • my favorite song

  • Just a heads to those who want to get this concert... The Palladia channel (if you get it) plays this show every so often in it's entirety. Set those DVR's

  • The 10 minutes that make you a better man...

  • The reason why David Gilmour is the best! He doesn't have to shred a million notes and whammy a ton of dive bombs. He puts a lot of work in his music and you can tell. He doesn't hurry up and make something to just make something like today's rubbish. That's why Pink Floyd will always be a benchmark in music...

  • @BudtheMainah i think yoy will have to put him 2nd to mark knopfler when it comes to great guitar playing ! 2 legends no question

  • Oh God I wish I was there. Noone like David Gilmour, and R.I P Rick

  • Goddamn right no one "dislikes" this.

  • Este é o solo mais louco do Gilmour!

  • this man changed my life

  • AWESOME!!!!! no more comments... just listen!!!

  • Jawohl ihr gottverdammten Engländer. Das Ding ist der Hammer. Er ist der Beste!!!

  • holy shit, probably the best live song everheard!

  • legendary

  • What the... Divine Bell xD.

    That old man is Legend:D

  • this guy is a legend...

  • GENIOUS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • David simply saved his best for last. This concert must have been magical.

  • David gilmour is one of the most soulful guitar players

  • Does anyone know where I can find the "Live in Gdansk", CD or DVD?

  • @Mead306

You can find it in BestBuy :)

  • the guitar solo at the end is amazing..does anybody know the tabs?

  • the acoustic part is quite easy to find out, try ultimate guitar for the tabs.

  • thanx a lot..but i´ve already got them :-)

  • look it up for guitar pro. I have it, and play it on my keyboard every now and then

  • Jigsaw :D

  • Best slide guitar solo ever!

  • super song nei simply write what

  • 5.45 he looks like "Jigsaw"

  • I've heard many versions of this song, bit this is about the best.

Davids slide guitar sound is a little drier then other versions,I think this sound really adds to the emotion of the song.

  • oscar !! ;D

  • this ending solo deserves an Oscar !!

  • ending solo makes anyone cry its just so beautiful the words his guitar cries out

  • I believe I saw him do this live in toronto here...small venue. grown men of all ages were emotional about the entire concert. seeing this version with the ending as it is, changes everything for this song for me..everything for the better. it was surreal watching him play even at that age. too bad i missed their hey-day.

  • The first time I heard this song I got into a trance, pretty cool.

  • This song has inspirational power; one day, Angie and I were driving and this song came on the radio. She pulled over just to listen to it. After it was over she said it was the 'best song [she] ever heard'.

Within a year we had recorded our first album. Thanks for the inspiration!

  • never hear a more nostalgic feelingful song, fck its like a timewarp, gives everytime goosepimp^^

  • @GregERobertson

Congratulations on the new album. And yes, your wife is absolutely right. I am personally in to the whole Floyd thing and know all about Waters being the writer and the 'soul' of the band and all that. But this damn song is something else. The instruments, lyrics and entire feel is something else entirely. No other song in the world has given me goosebumps each time I hear it. This one does. Some 6000 times and counting.

The Floyd truly will never ever die.

  • Brilliant song.....from childhood memories to the Endless River (Death).....it's all here and what a beautiful song/arrangement and voice....gimour slide solo didn't hurt a thing either......excellent 10+..... TY from deep in the heart of Texas

  • The best Post-waters pink floyd's song..

feels like the song is summerizing the whole of pink floyd career and personal life
