  • this man + their drums = one whole thing

  • Great cover! well done

  • he is not of this planet

  • FUCKING BRUTAL!!!!

  • the other night I saw Cyinc in adelaide Australia & I got to hang out with them for a little while & I got my Human & Focus CDs signed by Reinert & Masvidal :) but the best part is I got to talk to Reinert for about half an hour (but it seemed longer) about drumming & stuff, hes a really cool guy & seriously the best metal drummer ever in my opinion & one thing that blew me away was that when I went up to Paul Masvidal he actually reached out to shake my hand first & I couldnt beleive it haha

  • Thankyou Sean Sitka!

  • riff at 3:51 is fuckin killer and the symbols sound so fuckin good

  • I love it when death does those small intros. Like they start playing Land of No Return then they go right into Suicide Machine.

  • Chuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

damn i miss his fucking awesome music

  • awesome classical intro!! and awesome song!!!!

  • damn thats fking amazing! Death forever

  • Amazing!!! without words

  • interesting to note that because this is recorded from behind the drum kit, its the real tone of the drums, not the EQ'd sound that goes out through the PA system. It's still really clean playing and you can hear the slight pitch difference between the two bass drums. I saw them on this tour from close to the stage, I couldn't even see the drum kit with all the dry ice smoke they were using on stage... this video is the next best thing...

  • some1 plz be kind and explain to me : what are triggers ??

  • I'm more then likely wrong, but I believe they're a type of drum mic.

  • Triggers are sensors, placed on the drumheads to send an signal to an processor which can generate a drum sound.

Its used to ensure that the drum always have a juicy sound no matter how hard the drums are played.

  • aha thx alot for the info !

  • Just some additional info that everybody goes into when talking about triggers:

Many drummers say that a drummer is "cheating" when he uses triggers. Hmmm do I think so? I do, but it doesn't mean a drummer is bad if he uses triggers.

  • Well no, there is a point of speed that, even if you are playing incredibly cleanly, the drum will sound like shit. drummers who barely hit the kick drum and have triggers sound when they just tap it are cheating.

  • I did not know that. thx

  • Some more additional info, be sure that all modern Metal Records are pushed with triggers, in the Studio you can add trigger sounds in the computer without using trigger sensors. Compare a cd from the 80th with modern stuff and you know what i mean.

  • Yeah, unfortunately. Every modern record sounds the same. Back in the day, every drummer had his unique sound. Now it's all the same. Sad

  • Absolutely right

  • You instantly knew was it Menza, Benante, Ulrich, Lombardo, Mazurkiewicz etc just to name a few. Apart form their playing style, the sound was distinctive as well.

  • Was Sean with Sabian back then? I mean, not endorsed but is that what he used? I love his ride on Focus and his playing in general.

  • I think he was with Zildjian. I saw a few pics of Death with Sean wearing a shirt with a big K (as Zildjian K) on it.

  • Oh thanks. He would use Ks haha, the damn jazzer!

  • :D I'd rather say kickass jazzer

  • Yeah haha. He was really one of the only guys to push those kind of boundaries.

  • What can I say. His drumming is really innovative, technical and, to describe it with one word, AMAZING. I think he was the first to combine jazz and death metal. Let me tell ya, playing along with Human... It's never boring thx to Sean

  • Yeah I agree. He's the most innovative metal drummer of all time IMO. Some of the stuff he does in "Lack of Comprehension" and "Secret Face" are just amazing. I myself prefer his work with Cynic.

  • I agree. His work with Cynic is astonishing. Great talent he has.

  • haha when my friend and i went to see cynic my friend barged in on him after the show was over haha he was so startled

i got a glimpse on him

    he was puring sweat

with all them rolls and fills of course he was

    best show ever

    seeing cynic is no dissapointment

  • his hair is awesome

  • You cannot compare him to the present days.......he grew so much.......jeez:-)

  • Triggers are used only to get a clearer sound, neither heavier nor faster ,just clearer sound at high speeds

  • Amazing drummer, but so is Gene Hoglan. Chuck had so awesome musicians in his bands, Death/Control Denied. Death basically was Chuck's band, but guys like Sean Reinert who were in Death deserve a big credit also!

  • Human, ITP, and Symbolic were all star lineups. I agree, I think a lot of the past members haven't gotten enough credit. Paul Masvidals influence is clear as day on Human, as well as Reinerts. I think Hoglan brought one of the heaviest sounds to the plate, without going overly technical. I think Andy Laroque was the most overrated guitarist Chuck had, people seem to think he played on the whole record instead of just playing a couple of the solos.

  • It sounds impossible, but he got even better than this, nowadays!!

  • And this is another chunk of proof that DRUMMERS DON'T NEED TRIGGERS.

    Love this sound!!

  • I LOL at you people that think using triggers is cheating. Go learn about how something works before classifying it as cheating. Just so you know, Sean Reinert, the guy in this vid now uses triggers. Made by drumkat.

  • I never said using triggers is cheating. Cheating would be programming the bassdrums instead of playing them. My problem is I don't understand why so many drummers prefer to have ugly artificial sounds replacing their own performances.

As a result drummers develop techniques to use minimal effort to get a fake sound out of their acoustic, naturally punchy bass drums.

My point: There are hundreds of metal recordings with perfectly audible FAST untriggered double bass. You don't need triggers.

  • I'm sorry Peatman. I guess your right, and Sean Reinert, and all the other countless pros who use triggers are wrong. My brother has been drumming since 1983, and we play together quite a bit, he never uses triggers at home when we play, only while he's recording, or live. He doesn't change his style any when using the triggers, and "lightly touch the skins" as you think. His style is the same either way. He used to mic his bass drums, but figured out that triggers are more reliable.

  • hell yeah

  • Bro alot of people use them for super tech shit cos they cant actually hot the skins hard enough, obviously not the reason some more accomplished drummers use em, but i know alot of guys down here in NZ that use em for that reason

  • werd, some people just dont know. Id like to see any1 play this at a concert and have sound half as good without them.

  • Fucking awesome double bass.

  • I mean Sean

  • I would sell my soul to devil to play like Stene!!!!

  • A metal version of Vinnie Colaiuta!

  • thats his main influece he said in an interveiw on sickdrummer you can download it

  • "A request to die with dignity, is that too much too ask?"

  • flawless =)

  • reinert rules.

  • Two geniuses, Bach and Death. RIP Chuck. Concertos Brandebourgeois. Fuck yes.

  • 3.... you forgot reinert

  • @Miguelboz This is not Bach nor the Brandenburg concertos, its Handel.

  • @brunthroath6912 If it is Handel what composition? Thank you

  • @Deviliumrei Look it up its supposed to be in the Concerti grossi Op.6, but i didn't hear it.. If by any chance you come across it lemme know;p

  • @Miguelboz

Bach = Genius. Chuck =Godfather of death metal.

  • Reinert and this album were tops.

Hoglan is the man as well but I feel it was another direction.

    A Win Win

  • I love them both and it's so hard to compare Reinert's uber technical skills and finesse to Hoglan's brutality, power and stage presence. I think they should make a baby together and he will be the perfect drummer

  • The perfect drummer was already born: RICHARD CHRISTY!

  • That would make for a hell of a drummer. But who would be the catcher and who would be the pitcher????

  • @Beefy2k that babys name is richard christy ;)

  • Excellent video! Impressive..

  • Sean and gene cant be compared, different fruits from different tress. Each is on their own level. Sean is my fav although I love Gene too. :) Shared a drink with him years ago at a show, good people. Sean has a style all his own.

  • it would be awesome if you posted more of this concert in reinert cam

  • i think we are all waiting for that...

  • yes, MOAR

  • the best fucking drummer in the planet, really he is ffrom other world.

  • Still think Hoglan worked best. Suppose I'm a little biased, he's possibly my favourite drummer of all time...

  • ...and I just wanted him to check out his other work, like Cynic, which is...I can't fint any words to explain how great it is. And some fucking kid came and told me to fuck off and that downloading is illegal and all that shit. Fuck this shit sökjajadjöaksd.

  • Are you knivjerry on the Cynical sphere

  • No... why?

  • I thought you were since youre from sweeden

  • It's kind of Ironic, he lives in my area :p

  • lol

  • yeah.. I wanna go back to that funny dicussion we had

  • Wow man, you guys over there in america are way too tense about racism. Get a sense of humour and chill the fuck out! jesus... The funniest part is that I lied about everything I wrote to that other dude. Yeah I know... Im an asshole... Ive got the Focus album of cynic right beside me right now and Deaths - Human album too if ur curious. hmm.. But all I wanted to say to that guy in the first place was that he wasny impressed at all with Sean Reinerts drumming in this song....continued...........

  • Atleast im not black :)

  • Download Cynic album "Focus" and you will see something extraordinary.

  • why would you ask some one to download Focus when that's stealing money from Cynic. Buy the CD.

  • I seriously don't care if that is stealing.

Do what I did to Cynic, Download the CD then support them by giving them money (i gave what the CD cost) and everyone is happy. I would never ever listen to the CD if I had it, I only listen through my computer or Mp3-player. It would be totally necessary to make a CD for me, total waste of everything. Better to save the material for making that cd to someone else. bitch.

  • And then of course support them by watch their shows which you probably haven't! Sucks to be american, right? ;)

  • thanks to people like you bands are struggling around the world. And lucky for me to be an American we have cheaper CD prices. and I will see them after the album comes out. And if you don't care if that is stealing then you don't deserve to see cynic. It is way better to own a CD anyways because you get the full sound quality that a crappy internet streamed mp3 file. bitch.

  • Sweet... Im gonna go download all the bands albums that you put into your favorites now! So long asshole!! hahahahaha

  • What about the drum fill @4:00? That's insane!

  • Thanks so much for posting these videos, I really enjoy watching god on drums, Sean is the man.

  • looks like richard christy from the back...

  • His playing style looks very uncomfortable and unergonomic, reminds a bit about Vinne Colaiuta.

But when listening it's hard to match :)

  • just awesome!!!

    god.....

  • The fill he does right before the first verse, at like 2:21...

The greatest moment in music history.

  • Wow...!! THANK YOU.

  • that was awsome! great footage

  • Right..... That's it, I'm giving up, time to put my drumsticks in the bin! He is a fucking legend.

  • the playing fro 3:59 to 4:19 is just ridiculous. More jazz than metal. Soooooooo good. Sean is THE MAN!

  • i dont know why but my brain goes black at 2:37

maybe its a lack of comprehension ;)

  • haha good one

  • watch?v=7cnacIKY540 look familiar?

  • If anyone can tell me the exact title and composer of the classical piece i will put another one up :P

  • yo man... i think it is bach brandenburg no 2... but it could be a different brandburg concerto. since they only used a minute excerpt its hard to say and the versions on youtube are weird :) but i'm sure its one of the 6 brandenburg concertos!

  • put more of these up

  • thats some real man drumming! hard and precise while looking all relaxed.

  • REINERT - GOD in human form!

  • fuck yeah! thanks

  • By the way, Holy fucking hell Sean Reinert was awesome!!! I can't wait for the new Cynic record!

  • The classical piece of the Intro is something by Johann Sebastian Bach. I'm not sure exactly which one, but I think it's from one of the Brandenburg Concertos.

  • Oh my, great! Do you have any videos of Flattening of Emotions? I'd die if I say that.

  • unbeleiveable.

  • Amazing! great upload ... thank you ;)
