  • It's amazing how wonderfully they mesh & yet slightly contrast.

  • This composition is based on the beautiful morning raaga nat bhairav. The compostion is similar to the one composed by Shubhendra's guru Pt Ravi Shankar for his duet with the famous falutist Jean Pierre Rampal in the 1960s. Gao is great. So is Ty's accompaniment. The melody is played pretty much in the north Indian classical music idiom. Shubhen is one of the top sitarists and is known for melodic purity.

  • The pipa player kicks ass!

  • Goood

  • Inspiring and invigorating!

  • Gao Hong is my chinese teacher! YEAH!

  • holy fuck...

  • deadly combo

  • Gao Hong (born 1964 in Luoyang, Henan, China) is a composer and performer of the Chinese pipa (pear-shaped lute).

Gao has lived in the United States since 1994. She performs traditional and modern Chinese music, with her groups Spirit of Nature and Beijing Trio. She has also participated in cross-cultural musical collaborations, performing with jazz musicians and musicians from other cultures, including James Newton and Shubhendra Rao.

  • 看完后, 我对中国的什么琵琶演奏名家为之汗颜, 中国琵琶要到国外才有这样精采的 Mix, 中国五千年文化太沈重, 抱残守缺, 了无新意, greatest performances

  • A perfect fusion of 2 of the greatest civilizations of the World.

  • Wow, must be my lucky day, I'm glad I've stumble into this treasure, it is absolutely outstanding. A W E S O M E.

    amazing!!!

  • a very interesting performance. I happen to like both Pipa and Sitar and have been to many performances. I do prefer them to be separate though. They did an excellent job here, but I just enjoy them separate.

  • Master musicians, amazing and so beautifull.

  • This is one of the greatest cross-cultural performances I have ever seen. It is clear that the performers put great seriousness, care, and time into the preparation of this performance.

  • Absolutely extraordinary!!!

  • So beautiful

  • As someone who loves both Chinese music and Indian music, while watching this video I thought I had died and gone to heaven!

  • Could have used some better lighting.

  • molto, molto bello, grazie di averlo postato

  • makes me feel real good to know music can bridge different races. everytime i watch this, i take a very deep breath.

  • This is a wonderful video. As cheesy as it sounds, all the wars and hatred and racism just feels so silly when you see three completely different people come together to make wonderful music. As for the video itself, my only complaint is that there should have been more parts where the sitar and pipa alternate, because when they play together, the sitar with it's fuller tone tends to mask the sound of the pipa.

  • I just saw Gao Hong live last night, incredible performer, and pretty cool person, too. Get to see Shubhendra Rao in April, should be cool.

  • wow anton that's really deep. what would the world do without your groundbreaking ideas

  • wow,, that's is truly incredible

  • wow.

don't you wish there was more of this and less war?

  • superb talent all around. even more confidence booster to witness 3 races of major differences to come together to speak one language of music.

  • Hope ther is a joint India China concert for the masses.
