I saw him a week earlier in Brussels and his voice was in good shape and sounded great (videos on my channel). Fortunately, I chose Brussels instead of Download or later in the tour, as they pulled a lot of gigs due to David's vocal health, phew.
Hey, I've had a good time every time I've seen Whitesnake. The band is killer and Coverdale is a great frontman. I think he has the kind of voice that is difficult to maintain, since he screams with his head voice a lot, so the potential for trouble is high.
i'm a hardcore fan of David & WS, he really sings veery well even today, heard him LIVE recently in Finland. the whole band looks sooo good as you can see. yea i agree very good visual quality here but you cannot judge David's voice by listening to this, buy the record
I've seen WS probably 7 times over the past five years or so, and he's had problems more often than not. This video is about par for the course with Coverdale.
okay i trust a witness comment. anyway, he's got the charisma i love. my ultimate target is to have him on a more intimate unplugged tour before he retires. how about that?
For all of those criticizing this Icon called Coverdale: you really don't know anything about music. This guy is perfect! He is tune all the time and manages to modulate his voice a lot. He sings higher now that he's older than he used to like 30 years ago. If guys want the most complete kind of perfection go listen to Pavarotti!
OUCH! Coverdale's voice has really given up the goat. As a matter of fact, he actually sounds like a goat. A goat with an upper respiratory infection, but a goat nonetheless. Shame.
Ok, previous comment from me was probably unwarranted, after all Coverdale has done so much in the past that he deserves a bit more respect, I was there on Sunday, I was just hoping for a bit of that magic that Whitesnake had delivered so much in the past! I'm just a fan, Coverdale wrote so many of the songs that I've grown up with...and true, on a good day Coverdale is one of the best singers ever, but Sunday wasn't a good day for them in my opinion. Hope to see them at a peak again!
I was there. And although looking at them probably wasn't impressive, but *hearing them* it sounded spot on compared to their songs. They probably were better in the 80's but to me they sounded brilliant and the atmosphere was pretty immense. You had to be there I guess.
Random comment, but I want his trousers! They look amazing :')

That's correct. Don't judge his voice by an unedited live bootleg, judge it by a heavily processed and digitally manipulated studio recording!
Mattbro 2 years ago
well as i said i have heard him singing LIVE, too. actually he was better singing live as the band was better (more versatile) on stage :)

What camera did you use to video this? It looks excellent quality, very clear and sharp! Better than most youtube videos.
Whitesnake rule by the way!! :-)

Coverdale has two types of voices, a girly soft one and a huge gravely one. I like that gravely one!
