Harleys can be pumped up and it can be impressive to see but in truth, they are cruisers. How many crotch rocket bikes can be ridden for 12-15 hours comfortably? I haven't found one yet. They are a blast to ride but not comfy. They are like apples to oranges. My sons have 650 honda and a 750 suzuki to name a few. Very fast, very fun, but I wouldn't take one an a three week trip to the smokies like I did my Harley.

Now, plug the numbers into lb/HP...the highest output cruiser I've ever heard of is less than 200 HP, so let's use that, and a STOCK Kaw'i ZX-10 (2009) is about 145 HP...Results: Cruiser power to weight ratio = 3.25:1 (very fast), Sport bike = 2.76:1 (faster than ANY cruiser.)
this hole rocket harley mix is just stupid. i have more power at idle just about any rocket around. as a rocket has its power up top. you cant compare the two. its not fair. two diffrent bikes. rockets are cool, i guess.. they have there crowd. lil geeks. that think there crap dont stink. then you have american clean good bikes. that last forever and hold its value forever. and when built right. now listin up rocket girls, in the 1/4 mile will smoke a rocket...
One reason that air-cooled Harleys can be built to go that fast is because the dragstrip doesn't require sustained engine cooling. Basically, you're in the gas for only 9 or 10 seconds, and then you shut it off. There simply isn't time for the engine to overheat, even when it's boosted or tweaked to make 200+ horsepower. This is the main difference between bikes like these and liquid-cooled sportbikes that are built to run at full throttle all day long.
Having owned Yamaha and Harley, I must say the Yamaha's will outperform an equivalent Harley any day. But go to sell both, the Harley will retain its value much more than the Yamaha, and the Harley's are far easier to modify. Yet to run into a streetable cruiser that will run with my Ultima 110" turbo Dyna.
haha cool. at my work i got to ride a road glide with a jims 131 and D&D 2-1 and it was awesome. and another 1 was a heritage with a intercooled procharger with a 103 engine. both made about 145hp. stupid fast bikes =)

They weigh each bike and enter the year, make, model in the dyno computer. The computer has a list of bikes and their specs incluiding frontal displacement and uses these in the calculation. My bike and myself weighed in at approx. 1100 lbs at that time. Is it perfect..no but very entertaining.
I know from running this compared to the asphalt strip the dyno drag is about a second or more optimistic so they still wont beat a crocth rocket. Very impessive though, I cant beat it
yeah too bad the ultra weighs about 200+ lbs more than a croch rocket and while riding the ultra classic you can listen to the radio and sit up straight. yaeh .....too bad

Draging on the dyno? How do you take into account the bikes different weights. On the strip inertia has an effect an acceleration!!!
