I Love this story. who would ever remember their childhood growing up. I liked how everyone was somehow connected. Button mash X if you dont like this part. Had to put this on Mute >< Osiris's Mindless chatter made my want to Punch a Wall...
been trying to find the little squall in the rain wondering where "sis" went video WITHOUT commentary. especially with this guy who is emotionally scared ^^
I remember this part of the game, it really tested my patience. I just wanted to keep playing/exploring, but nooooo, I had to sit through those surprisingly long dialogues, monologues, soliloquies and what not.
I have to agree with one set of comments below supporting this scene and the game in general. It's a character driven game - not plot driven, and for that I love it. I can forgive this game the obvious flaws like this because it does so much right, and I actually never had a problem with this scene at all - the music is awesome, and I found this scene sad rather than stupid.
That said, I can see why people hate it. But people tend to prefer plots over characters, whereas I'm the opposite. It's
Lmao this was absolutely hilarious! the 1st and last time I played ff8 was when I was 12 and since then I've convinced myself this is the best ff game of all! I recently just started playing it again to wall through memory lane and with the help of your commentaries I've realized how ridiculous this is! Lol you're absolutely right about everything. :]
This was hilarious. I honestly have never even played the games, but I just sat here for this entire video because your commentary was so funny. Maybe I should play some of these games....they certainly look interesting.
Still, you're right on the account that this is the problem most gamers have with FF8. FF8 doesn't tell you everything right away. There's a lot of stuff that you only find out by researching the background, reading stuff here and there in the game, and even then, sometimes these are just hints towards the facts.
FF8 is a character-driven game, not a plot-driven one. It's not about the war against the sorceress, it's about a bunch of 17 years old learning to grow up and depend on each other.
That's why I love it too - I love works in which the main focus point is the characters. It's no wonder I also loved Fist of the North Star and Homestuck's Hivebent arc.
I'm afraid you're not naive enough to enjoy this game to its fullest, dude :d
@ILOVETODANCELOL Hehe, don't worry these two orphanage scenes I did are mostly tongue in cheek... however I really do believe that this part was poorly done. When I was a kid I could let obvious plot holes slide easier, I actually loved this part. But as I get older and replay these games I'm more critical.
Also, meh on Irvine not killing Edea. Had she not shielded herself Irvine's shot would have killed her. And yes, sadly something like this was necessary because of the way they set it up.
The fact GF junctions damages the memory of the user is even hinted at right at the beginning of the game (on your computer), and the SeeDs in Balamb very often use G-Forces: its part of their formation and exam, and even cadets are taught how to use GFs.
GFs ARE discussed in the game - even though we only find that out a bit later with Dr. Odine. The use and junction of Para-Magic (magic you draw from draw points/enemies) is only possible by controlling a GF, which takes its toll on you.
NO RUNNING IN FLASHBACKS DUDE, IT SPOILS THE MOOD.
This part is totally necessary to the game, and to be honest that part of the reason I love FF8.
It explains why Irvine couldn't kill Edea. She was their matron, after all. He didn't tell anyone about it sooner because he was ashamed to be the only one who remembered the orphanage. He thought that that part of their life didn't count any more for them.
"Zell's adopted!" "You can be the side-archenemy!"
How exactly would there be "plotholes galore?"
