nothing like two nice 985's just singing away as you cruise over the water and when you pull the power back a little and they settle into that nice harmony sound,,,,
There is just something about the sound of those engines at take off and normal flight that I can't seem to get enough of.
I have to ask, is it still flying? I've fallen in love with this plane as of a few years ago. Sadly the only version I had actually gotten to get up close to was the one at the Langley airport in BC here. (If you don't count the scale plastic model I managed to track down)
Did you notice that only one tachometer is working? The other one is indicating "0", I am sure the tach generator was inop or wet, I am sure it was deferred by the MEL.
Beech 18's were always my favorite civil aircraft,
thier noiise from those 985's,
and the overall look was really something,
when you pull this one off the waterand then you pull the throttle's back just a little bit , & the engines settile into that nice ranging sweeet sound,
Pure music to my ear's,
the only other planes that do this i know of are the Grumman albatross and the J2F duck,
maybe it the prop's slowing down and cutting less into the wind,
best sound on take off i've heard

looks like one of your manifold pressure guage pointers is busted...but then again, I bet you knew that; how did you set power on that engine?

This one in particular is dismantled on shore for sale (C-FCSN) along with C-GAIV, they do have one operating still C-FGNR.

@Jimfoxyboy A Beech 18 departs over my house nearly every day. I live in Wichita, Ks where they were built. Still a few around here.

I've had the pleasure of flying in an old Beech 18 and it was sweet! Very nice old airplanes, indeed! Loved every minute of the flight.
